This is funny on so many levels, people do believe the shit they spout like gospel truth, I know myself from personal experience they will not let the truth get into the way of a good storey. Another thing is a lot of English people on here quick to jump on the " English thugs" band wagon seem to be the same people as the Muslim apologists that write on here in their defence What's a Muslim apologist? The p.c brigade

Maybe they can't arrest them all because they don't have the capacity too due to numbers and they've been given strict instructions to only arrest if necessary because they need to have officers on the street in case the worst happens and there's a terrorist incident. If they arrested 30-40 for criminal damage, public order etc and were left with little numbers on the street because they were all in stations dealing with our lot who's left to deal with a large scale terrorist attack? Sorry that's nonsense. I hope there is a policeman on this board who can offer their opinion. The tactics used by the french here are seen as utterly ludicrous by our police Ultimately I guess only time will tell as things pan out over the next few weeks. In the end we all want the same thing a trouble free competition and no one (me or you) really know whats really happened as we all have a slant on things (me included). I guess the only way we'll ever find out is talking to a proper sensible fan who's been there. I'm sure there's blame on all sides but it's just sad that it always seems to be us and it's a crying shame. Regardless of your opinion on the press there's people out there giving them the ammunition to fire. Those people have a choice.

Another thing is a lot of English people on here quick to jump on the " English thugs" band wagon seem to be the same people as the Muslim apologists that write on here in their defence It works both ways as we don't know they're innocent of any blame either do we, whether your pro or against the English in France it's just people's opinions. It doesn't need to turn into a slanging match.

From what I have seen, the first bits were of English fans tightly grouped outside a bar with good reason to be there and 'other nationals' throwing missiles towards them, with beer flowing it is going to provoke the English it's human nature. I'd be ashamed to be English if they ran off tbh

Anyone who has ever followed England over Europe will know that the local police forces always use a sledgehammer to crack a nut. When I was one of 100's of England fans deported from Brussels during Euro 2000 the police tear gassed the perfectly respectable bar we were in at the time to essentially root out 4/5 trouble makers they were looking to arrest. Amongst the folk in my cell in the army barracks we were taken to were an Autralian backpacker (who I'm still in contact with to this day) and an American fella working over in Belgium who was very much in the wrong place at the wrong time. So for those quick to judge it isn't always easy to stay out of situations that occur, that said there an element of Lagered up England fans who think it's some kind of badge of honour to go around throwing chairs and beer bottles. The trick is to spend your day trying to avoid them.......
Not really seen the in and outs of the current incidents but it's as predictable as it is sad......

I'm ashamed that the English can't appear to hold their ale. So what would you expect them to do if they are not the instigators? Most normal people don't put themselves in that situation. These fucktards do, time and time again. I've seen it first hand, it's all good natured fun until they've had a sniff of the barmaids apron. Then they get all billy big bollocks and start offering people on. They're vermin.

Let me give you an international perspective, England fans always used to be viewed as thugs, seems like your going back to that these past few days. Some people say they're just having fun, a few pints and being targeted. First of all standing outside a pub for two days straight chanting the same three songs over and over is not most people's idea of fun and secondly even if the locals targeted them, there will be a reason for it, like I said, England fans have a reputation which they are more than living up to at the moment. The way you lot try and defend them is embarrassing.

And they drag the countries name through the mud. I'm pretty sure 90% of the England fans in France right now are decent, normal people. Unfortunately some of those end up getting involved by the scrotes who start the trouble inevitably meaning the police go in heavy handed and, obviously, the normal fans have to fight back. That small minority of dickheads are scum. Plain and simple.

The way you lot try and defend them is embarrassing. Spot on. It's about respect for your fellow human being. Some people class throwing bottles, being abusive about people your in the country of and smashing things up as a "bit of a laugh" or "harmless fun" and some don't. Maybe I'm a bit boring but I dont. It's clearly not all about the football because if I'd had as much to drink as the majority 1) I'm a lightweight so would have my head down the toilet come kick off time. Or 2) Id be to drunk to know what was going on. I've never been to a game drunk as I want to be sober when I'm watching so I can really enjoy it.

Just seems to me a recipe for disaster that could have easily been avoided. England fans, notorious for bad behaviour. Russian fans notoriously racist. Both hated by the authorities. Both hate Muslims. Lets put them in Marseille, France's largest Muslim populated city. Let the English, Russians and Muslims have a right old punch up... Keeps it away from all the " nice" parts of France where people would be horrified. Dunno....Just seemed they knew it would inevitably kick off... You've thought that through. You could be right. I see it as a Parthian Shot. I'm as fascinated by violence as the next man. I heard Durham on TS earlier, there were 15 Russian fans in Marseille attracting attention. I suspect it's largely a media storm. With a few extra piss heads on the streets thrown into the mix. I wouldn't be so flippant if I was in amongst it. Deal with them with a good kebab and a taxi wom. {Cheaper than tear gas.} Headline writers are getting flexed. Be great to go over there and put an emphatic full stop on stuff. Kick fuck out of Europe, grab the Trophy and then retreat back into our own little island. Post Euro, Euros and whatnot. Victorious for Liz. A Parthian Shot. But then agin I'm more Welsh than owt. "I'm as fascinated by violence as the next man. and there you have it, the sole reason as to why the media love to cover it in such detail. Even the most law abiding citizen on the planet cannot look away from wild behaviour i'm far from condoning the actions of some fans, but having worked in the media in the past, i know there are always 2 sides to the coin, and 1 side the media try to shy away from to promote their own narrative that is sold to the general public

yep clyde on SSN earlier they certainly looked like about 250 little choir boys, off to prayer, looking like butter would not melt in their mouths As opposed, to:- sunburned drunken 'thick a pigshit' scummers, with only drunken beer fuelled bravado, confrontation, alineation and trouble on their tiny little minds mind you, some people think Adolf Hitler was actually 'misunderstood' There's a thought that says, if you have to reference Adolf you've lost the argument

Sadly going abroad and acting like a moron has become a national pastime - football doesn't need to be involved. However much we may like to play the innocent victim card - and in some cases it may be true - the simple fact is that a large number of our fellow nationals are over there simply to drink themselves senseless, sing offensive songs, and , if they get lucky, be involved in a bit of petty vandalism. For some reason it makes them feel good about themselves - quite depressing and predictable.
