Having (lovingly) touched on Australia's miserable performances in the test series with Sri Lanka (a 3-0 whitewash let us remind ourselves with a suitably broad smile) earlier in this thread, a grudging mention of their T20 game seems only fair noting they posted a new record score of 263-3. Maxwell was the main man scoring 145 of 65 balls.
Not surprisingly, they won the game.
On this occasion - respect to the Aussies. Awesome stuff.

It's most definately a grudging acknowledgment though !

In that format Maxwell is one hell of a player though isn't he - even if he is an Aussie. I've seen him play some superb quick fire innings in the IPL as well.

Well, that's the summer done!
Final international - the T20 - is done. And we get done. Well and truly.
Overall though, the Pakistan tour has been an excellent one. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Next stop. Bangladesh.

Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales decline to tour Bangladesh due to concerns over security , Jos Buttler will Captain the side , not surprising as Morgan has been prevaricating for some time as to whether he would go or not .....the good news in this respect is that it allows Bairstow into the side should he choose to tour , could this spell the end for Morgan's career ....possibly , Hales no doubt will return to the one day side sooner than later I'm sure ....the Test side is surely another concern though ?

I've mixed feelings about this. Disappointed the captain won't go but happy because I don't think he should be the captain. There are much better players not playing to accommodate him in the side.
Hayles decision may have repercussions on his test spot which is hanging by a thread. His lack of support may be reciprocated by the selectors. His ODI future is assured.

I'd be tempted to rest Broad and Anderson so we can have a proper look at the seamers, and I'd go heavy on the spin options as well in case one is getting it wrong on the day.
Something like this would be more than interesting:
Cook Hameed Roy Root Barstow Stokes Ansari Ali Woakes Rashid Wood
With Ball, Buttler, Ballance and Borthwick waiting in the wings.....

I don't see how Morgan can possibly hope to get selected for the Indian tour after this , a serious error from a career angle by him I think , Strauss appears less than impressed by him .

Maybe there is something going on behind the scenes.

Thats the end for Morgan I think. Form is sketchy at best anyway
Wouldnt be surprised to see Root promoted to captain next summer in ODIs to get him ready for the big job when Cook eventually stops
Hales I am surprised by, surely they will give the young lad at Northants a bash (Duckett) as been in sensational form all summer for both county and Eng Lions
Agree both Bairstow and Buttler in the ODI middle order is ace - along with Stokes, Woakes, Ali, Rashid, Plunkett thats a fair tail!
Roy Duckett Root Ali Stokes Bairstow Buttler (c, wk) Woakes Rashid Plunkett Willey/Dawson (conditions!)
Give Broad and Anderson a break altogether until the tests Jordan/Billings in reserve

Just one minor change - switch Bairstow and Ali around in the order and use Butler in a floating position - get him in around the 30 over mark even if we are only one or two down at that time. That was one Morgan innovation that really worked.

Not convinced by Willey if I'm honest yet, his bowling has been hit and miss and his batting which was awesome at Northants at times has been very poor....

Good point about his bowling ....Does he still get time at the crease up the order now he's moved to Yorkshire ? Not sure that he does in their line up ?

Don't think he's had much time at the crease with them to be fair. Jordan is another one, stunning fielder but always flatters to deceive with ball and bat.....

Jordan could be such a good cricketer for England , it's a shame he can't just can't get his length right ......he can be destructive with the bat too , he's without a doubt a superb catcher particularly in the slips where I remember him taking some stunners the last time England were in the West Indies ...could still be time on his side yet though.
