It's squad naming time so cue all the "he won't pick Ryan so I hope England get dicked" threads and posts.

Then you will probably just about escape the Tower for treachery, but there will be plenty who won't later on in this thread.

Yes of course. And I would stop all English born football fans from ever watching another game of football in their lives if they ever actively wanted an England football team to lose a game of nogger, by whatever means necessary.

Why is it treacherous not to be bothered about the England football team though? My loyalty is to my family, my friends and to SCFC only, I have absolutely no issue with those passionate about their country and if England win a tournament then happy days it's great for the mood of the country. But I'm the least nationalistic person in the world so unless a SCFC player is representing our country I can take it or leave it.....

In my opinion,if you are a football fan born in England then that automatically makes you a fan of the English national team, I don't understand how it doesn't. I here what you're saying and that's fair enough, each to their own and all that but I just don't get all the England hatred (I know you haven't said that but plenty of other do). Again, in my opinion I believe that a lot of the anti England stuff that gets bandied about on here is all down to the manager not picking Ryan Shawcross, which again I find stupid. Should Ryan have had more chances for England? Yes he should, but that shouldn't stop an England fan from supporting his national team, should it? Hodgson is a useless sack of clown juice but again that's not an excuse for an England fan to not support his national team in my opinion. My passion for the England team has diminished slightly over the years but they get my full support when they play regardless of who the manager is or who is on the pitch and I will never understand how any English born football fan could ever want us to lose,it's not right.

What I find weird is not so much that people don't give a shit, which is fair enough, but that some people are absolutely desperate to tell everyone that they don't give a shit, like it's a badge of honour.
Either you're bothered or you're not, no need to do a little dance about it.

I was more pissed off when England got knocked out of the Rugby world cup than the last football world cup, think that says how I feel about the current situation.

I don't think Ryan's played enough football to be called up this time round.
Not that it'd stop the likes of Wilshere and co getting straight back into the squad..
Maybe Jack will get a start in one of the friendlies.

Ray Wilkins said on Talk Sport this morning that he'd spoken to Jack Wilshere last week and he reckons he's fit (despite not being picked for Arsenal yet)........expect Woy to make an inclusion

If he picks that odious little cunt Wilshere, then it'll just further my disdain for the national team, and prove that Hodgson is indeed, a dribbling retard.

Would be sorely disappointed if Wheelchair gets a spot; plenty more central/attacking mids have staked their claim ahead of him this season.

Don't really see or hear that many people wearing their dislike of the England team as a "badge of honour" either if I'm honest. Sid replied to the OP and brought the whole anti-England sentiment up and people are commenting accordingly..

If you're not bothered about something, isn't it counter-intuitive to go to the effort of opening the thread and then posting on that thread to tell everyone how incredibly not bothered you are about it? Wouldn't the committed apathist just, you know, not bother opening or replying to the thread in the first place?

So, someone born in India (like Colin Cowdrey) for example, should have supported (and played for?) the Indian Cricket team because he was born in India? Or the child of the Russian Ambassador to Britain should support England if he or she happens to have been born in London whilst his/her parents where working here? Well, its a point of view I suppose, but not one I share.
