Good to see Drinkwater has been called up!
As for Ryan, knew he wouldn't but Stones can't get into the Everton team and hasn't had a look in for weeks.
Jags comes back and his partnership with Mori has looked solid and suddenly they stop conceding!

Henderson? I'm better than him, and I'm shit.
Our central defense is a car crash waiting to happen. Our inability as a country to produce top level performers all over the pitch, rather than the odd one here and there, is a national disgrace.

It's just a weird thing to feel the need to share with people. Hi everyone, just want you to know I don't care about this! If you were asked directly about it I could understand. If they were to go out of their way to contribute to a discussion they weren't interested in it's just a bit weird. I wasn't so much directing it at you as the various posters who do this every time there's an England thread. You seem to be particularly prickly about it though, which is funny given your 'indifference'. As I said, each to their own. Have you ever commented on a thread about Sunderland? Or Newcastle? Or Man Utd? Do you care about all of those teams? I have and couldn't give two shits about any of them but it's a football forum and most people just pass comment. Bizarre logic but we'll leave it at that...... Yes but I've commented to give an actual opinion on them, not to tell everyone how much I don't care about them. That's the difference. If all a poster has got to say on a subject is "I don't care" then why bother contributing at all?

I don't think Ryan's played enough football to be called up this time round. Not that it'd stop the likes of Wilshere and co getting straight back into the squad.. Maybe Jack will get a start in one of the friendlies. I agree, and if he does not get back soon and pick up from where he was (strong defensive games, visibly improving the defence in the eyes of the "media") then he will miss out anyway for Euros and I think that is a shame from a Stoke fan point of view. As a DFB fan I would be more than happy seeing the "amazing" Stones in your back four whilst Muller rips you a new one There are far better players on form who deserve a call up but will not by hodgson... It will be interesting to see how we are set up against England or if Lowe is using it to test the rough "1st" team.

Oh so it was a metaphorical dance? Don't really see or hear that many people wearing their dislike of the England team as a "badge of honour" either if I'm honest. Sid replied to the OP and brought the whole anti-England sentiment up and people are commenting accordingly.. That's because it's rife on here and personally I find it disgraceful. Why do you give a fuck?

I might be in the minority here but I quite like Welbeck (For England) *Tin hat on* I agree, he has always performed well for England so it's a no brainer

Welbeck has done well for England, he will be one of the first names on the plane, rightly so.

I still think it's criminal how Mark Nobel has yet to receive a call up but Henderson is seemingly a regular in the squad. I wouldn't have Mark Nobel in Stoke's team! Had a good season doing the very functional things he does of course but England? Really? I thought it was only West ham fans suggesting this. When you see the likes of henderson and lallana in then the op has a point. Nobles been very good past few seasons and upped his game this year. The fact he hasn't even been recognised by woy is just a kick in the bollocks too all players at lower down the league clubs. I mean milner? He hasn't even been starting games when he's fit!

If he picks that odious little cunt Wilshere, then it'll just further my disdain for the national team, and prove that Hodgson is indeed, a dribbling retard. Doesn't need to pick Wilshere to prove he's a dribbling retard!!!

Should Afellay and Pieters be starting for Holland and no Stoke player for England, and seen as it's only a friendly plus my dislike of Hodgson's reasons for team selection, I will be secretly rooting for Holland.....or more to the point, rooting for Afellay and Pieters to have a cracking game.....in the same way I'd secretly be rooting for the RoI (ie, Whelan, Walters and Wilson) should England be playing them!!!
If Afellay and Pieters aren't included in the starting line-up, I don't think I'll bother at all!!!

Do you swear allegiance to the Queen and all that bollocks as well? Yes of course. And I would stop all English born football fans from ever watching another game of football in their lives if they ever actively wanted an England football team to lose a game of nogger, by whatever means necessary. Where do I sign up?

Typical jive talk to appease the fans who's favorite player has not been picked. Erm. What do you expect him to say? "Those left out have no chance of ever playing for England!" That's exactly the point I was making after someone else posted the tweet. This gets said after every squad selection prior to the final squad for the tournament.

Everyone? I didn't, and plenty others on here didn't. The guy is a great footballer, but his defending has been poor for a while. Being able to bring the ball out of defence doesn't make you a particularly good defender. It's being able to match those two abilities, and while Stones looks fancy on the ball and all that, he looks hopeless at defending. That's the difference between Rio Ferdinand and Calum Chambers... both those two players can bring the ball out of defence but only one of them can defend. Could in the case of Rio, but the point stands. The hype over Stones has been typically English. It was Wilshere a few years ago, it was Stones last year, it was Francis Jeffers about 15 years ago. The one thing we're good at, is hyping up young English players, especially when they play for a 'big club' like Man Utd or the bandits. 9/10 these players go on to achieve fuck all. Stones will be a good defender, but nothing has convinced me he'll be anything but a good defender. He'll never be as good as Terry at defending and he'll never be as good as Ferdinand at bringing the ball out of defence, therefore really, he will only be a good defender. The reality is, he's coming up to his 22nd birthday. At 22, Terry won the Premier League as part of Chelsea's back four. Ferdinand also won it at 22, with Man Utd. Is John Stones likely to be part of a title winning back four at 22? No. Is he likely to EVER be part of a title winning back four? Not for me. Not good enough.

If anything, it simply highlights the incompetence of our manager and makes his position slightly more uneasy. I'm not going to root against England in a major tournament, but we're all happy in the knowledge we're going to get fucking spanked.

The prerequisite for being a Centre back is the ability to defend.. which two thirds he has picked can't.

Only one uncapped player in the squad yet Woy claims he's claiming to be looking at a larger pool of players staking to make their claim. How does this work? Shouldn't the time to experiment be in these friendlys. He isn't going to take someone untried out to a major tournament. The mans full of shite

I'm not joking Henderson has got to be the most limited international footballer I have seen , and that includes the shit that played for Enland in the eighties

Ward-Prowse can't be any worse than Henderson, Lingard or Ibe Aren't any worse than Sterling. the main problem is the lack quality out there that is English.

England actually have some half decent young players creeping into the senior set up.
Alli and Barley are real talents.
Also, I love the idea of Kane and Vardy playing as a pair up front.
However, we have an inept manager who can't trust exciting, creative players and won't move away from the "senior pros". I don't hold out much hope for us at the Euro's!

Decent enough side but in June Italy France and Germany won't be too concerned about us.
Same as it's always been. Apart from a few weeks in 1966. And an hour in 1970
