It would have been another frustrating draw, yes we won but we weren't totally convincing again tonight. Shaqiri was a class apart today, a bit quieter second half but he looked the ONLY THREAT going forward and obviously the worldy from Jack at the end. Onwards and upwards!

Try playing in those conditions, we did well.

I'm going to blame the conditions. Ruined the game once again.

Good signs when you can play badly and still win.

Nothing about what I've said is pessimistic, saying we won playing shit and we'll be lucky finish top 12 is pessimistic pal.

Two moments of magic from Shaqiri and Butland saved us from embarrassment. Performance was awful tonight. Again.

It's nights like these when you need the likes of Shaqiri, worth every penny.

Think both the conditions and Newcastle's setup were to blame. First half they had no intention of scoring whatsoever. Second they started to play and we began to open them up. Happy with the result.

Well i blame Kitson mesen.
6pts from the last two games and not got out of second gear, we used to lose these kind of games, park the bus at Chelsea and come home with point would finish off a great 8 days.

Bollocks to all your negativity. We have match winners in our squad now - that's what they do, win games of football for you! Educate yourselves.

Two moments of magic from Shaqiri and Butland saved us from embarrassment. Performance was awful tonight. Again. Saved so from embarrassment?? It would have been 2 points dropped on a night where conditions spoilt the game. Embarrassment is losing v blythe Spartans not another premiership team fighting to stay up.

Absofookinglutely - how many times have we been done in the past by one moment of brilliance from a 12-18m player in an otherwise shit game. Well that's us now. We've got the big time players and we'll be getting more of them in the summer, too. The future's ours - enjoy the present...

I dunno why you bothered replying to it, Clyde mate. The shit I've read on here already is pathetic. We've just won, yes WON, our THIRD game in-a-row... You'd never fucking guess it reading the wank on here so far though!

Performance was awful tonight. Again. True, but we move on in 7th place and try to keep picking away for the next 11 games.

So important to win such scrappy games and get the 3 points! Would have taken a 1-0 win before the game without blinkinking! Hard fought victory, good 3 points!

Who gives a shit how we won? No team plays well in 100% of matches, the key is grinding results out when you're shit, that's the difference between mid table and Europa

Not gonna lie, I truly expect us to demolish teams in the bottom 3. It just never happens and it frustrates the shit out of me when we look at the quality on board.

We played shit, but We managed to scrape past a team who were fighting for their lives, a game that, so often, we would lose in the past to give ourselves a chance (albeit a minutely slim one) to sneak a Champions League place, all whilst playing with a patched up defence.

I think the original point is fair.
And I don't think it's pessimistic.
The story of the season is brickbats to the strikers.
Bouquets to Arnautovic Shaquiri Johnson Pieters And affellay.
Those 5 must have played really well to get us up to 7 th with no striker.

We need to stumble along a bit more, get a break in a couple of weeks. Pick up 5 or 6 points from the three games before then and we can get injured players back and fire ourselves to top 6 or 7.
Johnson has been a big miss going forward.

You know when you're playing darts or snooker against someone shit? They drag you down to their level until you can't hit a double or pot a ball and you end up on double 1 or the last black until you want to kill yourself? Fortunately we have Ronnie O'Sullivan and Phil Taylor type players now! Someone said in the matchday thread, how do you play aganst a team that doesn't even want the ball, summed Newcastle up brilliantly! I guess we should take it as a compliment really but, we found a way to win, which is an improvement! And 9 points from 9 is great for a mid table team like us.
