This story is now building into the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard, 2000 Stoke fans turned up at 7.35, there was a lot of chaos, no real mither but we all got in 15-25 mins late. That's it. Should 420000 other fans be expected to wait?

Should 420000 other fans be expected to wait? We arrived at 7.25 and didn't get into the ground until the 17th minute. There were empty turnstiles for the away section (p and q I think) but chaos outside of turnstiles m1-7. There was no way of gaining access to the empty turnstiles, no queueing system and no stewarding or policing other than threats of violence, one officer on horseback repeatedly threatening to "ride my horse through the lot of you if you don't pipe down".

I had two kids with me and I was honestly concerned for their safety in a shambolic disorganised crowd management fiasco As for the question should 42,000 be expected to wait..... Damn right they should if it helped a very dangerous situation outside the stadium escalating further and I'm sure every one of those 42,000 would have completely understood ( maybe the TV company would be less understanding though !! )

Should 420000 other fans be expected to wait? And on a serious note, yes! If making 42,000 fans have to go through the traumatising task of having to wait an extra 15 minutes to ensure the safety of approx 2,000 people outside of the ground then do be it! It wasn't our fault that the coaches were poorly organised, left late and arrived late was it? It wasn't our fault that we were not allowed off the coach until it had traveled an extra 290yards away from the ground and had parked up? Were you in the crowd with young children being pushed and pulled around by grown men with the potential of being crushed?

I'm not defending any of the chaos just commenting about delaying the KO. With extra time and pens we caught the last train home with 5 minutes to spare. Lime Street was pretty dead as well so I'd say it was the last train to anywhere as well. This might be why they didn't delay KO?

We are very lucky at the brit as we have more than enough room ouside the ground! As said before, you would have thought the Liverpool's club police and stewards would have learned their lesson!

I'd like to think you have a point here Winston but sadly it has more to do with Sky and it being shown live in 20 countries. We as paying punters are last in the pecking order and the last people to be considered. This is what needs to be put to the FA, the Police, the FCs and to get them to either admit that our safety and consideration is put below the demands of TV or change their attitude and actions in future. BM Yep, that would have been the bigger consideration! Just saying that now solution is ideal when they cock it up. I'd have been mighty peed off though if I missed the last bit of extra time and pens so other people didn't miss the start of the match! It would have spoiled the whole of the game knowing I was going to miss the end

To delay the kickoff to ensure peoples safety is a small price to pay!

To delay the kickoff to ensure peoples safety is a small price to pay! Proper organisation is the key mate. Not leaving people stuck in liverpool overnight for those that got there late! We considered the official coaches but 4:30 was chancing it too much. we left earlier than that on a direct train. Pub buses left between 3 and 4. Stoke should have left earlier. Should have dropped you at the ground. Police should have opened more turnstiles. Many issues here but none that mean other people should miss the end of the game! Far better to miss 15 mins at the start than 15 mins at the end

I was also right next to the grey Police horse, whose hoof was very close to my left foot. It was a very uncomfortable few minutes. Congratulations to the pissed up moron who threw the remnants of a pie at the back of the copper on the horse. Had he realised, all hell would have broken out.

Liverpool away mid week fixture. Coaches cut it fine and go via the M6. Possibly not the most sensible decision.

"Should 42k people be expected to wait" is exactly how we ended up with Hillsborough.

I was in the ground and nobody in the ground had any idea of what was going on outside, but I'm sure if we did, everyone of us would of wanted a delayed kick off and to be honest when somebody's safety is a concern the game becomes irrelevant. And I'm sure that everybody in the ground at Hillborough would of gladly missed a football match on that day to save the lives of 96 football supporters irrelevant of the team they supported. The police have a very difficult job at football matches the have to ensure everybody's safety and as all us old boys know they still have to be the biggest firm in the country, every football fan in the country knows that Hillsborough was and impossible situation for them. It will be very interesting to hear their version of events

On a funnier note. One of my surreal moments as a Stoke fan was in the Vic pub in the Victoria Ground days when it went off big time. They opened the front doors and a police horse came in the pub. Anybody else remember it
