I was as excited as anyone about this signing but I have been seriously underwhelmed with his performances to date. Today, I felt it was a good call by MH to see what he could offer in what is apparently his strongest role but he just seemed to be a luxury who was easily knocked off the ball, flitting in and out of the game as he pleased, and not offering anything more when he was switched back to the wing in the second half. Has he ever beaten his fullback yet in any game? I was expecting some kind of explosive player who could leave his opponents for dead but we have seen no signs of that at all, giving a performance today akin to those of Bojan from the last 4 games. If we are going to get away with the lower work rate from the Bojans and Shaqiris, which is less a pre-requisite in their former leagues than the Prem, then they need to produce the magic more regularly than they are doing. Otherwise we are effectively playing with 10 men when we come up against the Leicesters of this league.

He offers nothing if you don't give him the ball, Kante is also having a blinder of a season and was obviously told to keep Shaqiri quiet, let's not pretend that Shaqiri hasn't improved our team massively, as a group they're all just not playing well for whatever reason

Put in the best crosses today (bar on from Johnson).

Shaq is without any doubt a top player BUT he isn't doing it on a regular basis for us yet.
He'll come good (he's too good not to) but it ain't happened yet bar a few moments of excellence.
Patience needed here without a doubt but I have faith it'll happen for him.

Not as much as we were hoping if we are honest
Is inability/reluctance to take a man on is frustrating to say the least
Hopefully it will click next season

He's not looking like a £12M player at the mo that's for sure. The drop in form from most is worrying to say the least

Patience needed here without a doubt but I have faith it'll happen for him. We can't seem to find a formation that brings out the best in every player as of yet, every week it seems to change and it's obvious from today that Shaq didn't know where he was meant to be and what he was meant to be doing, we really need to start picking a team based on our game and imposing it and not picking a team based on what the opposition is putting out

Hasn't played since the 2nd of January, but we expect him to come back firing on all cylinders, yeah that makes sense.

We have decent passers in the team who give him the ball quite a few times, but he does not seem to find the space to get clear or get one on one with defenders. I have seen him having enough opportunities this season to beat his man but then take the easy option and pass back to Johnson, who looks more of an attacking threat than Shaqiri most of the time. He has perhaps not been helped with the lack of a left footed midfielder like Charlie playing often enough as neither Whelan or Afellay are bold enough on their left side to ping out any adventurous passes towards him. I think he will get better but he certainly needs to also.

Put in the best crosses today (bar on from Johnson). his corners are shit and that a simple cross All our crosses were bad today - just like all other aspects of our game. We have seen this before - we come out with an apparently different plan, but it seemed they (coaching staff) forgot to tell the players what the plan was.

Who'd want to play for some Stoke City fans? What do you think of his performances then? Sounds like a classic diversion tactic that post. Can you not offer up a better defence of his performances than that?

Who'd want to play for some Stoke City fans? Are we not allowed to pass comment on such a player because he has a European pedigree, an exotic name, and a £12m price tag? I guarantee that if we had spent a £1m on a home-grown player that there would be universal criticism after such a series of underwhelming displays.

Crossing the ball is pointless and we rarely attack in numbers anymore so passing it in and around the box can't happen either, there seems to be quite a few gaps in our tactical approach, i said it somewhere else but we need to start picking our best team and imposing our tactics on the game instead of picking a team with the opposition in mind

I think it's a classic case of a young man, who has shifted from club to club and country to country, after being hailed as the next big thing and it all catching up with him.
He's 24 years old and has played for four different clubs in four different countries in pretty much as many years. The big move from Basel to Munich blew up when a new manager came in. He then moved to a club with a tri polar manager that goes off players faster than I do the wife and then he ends up here playingin a league that does 0-60 faster than a Ferrari.
You have to be pretty special to take that all on board and for it not to affect you.
It's going to take time for it to all sink in and for him to kick back on again.
Be prepared that it might not happen for him here at all though. Not saying it will or won't but its happened to bigger profile players than Shaqiri before now.
Just get behind the lad and what will be, will be.

Bloody Hell he was our hero merely weeks ago. Now he's a bag of shite. Well I'm sure if we tell him that it'll help his game no end.
He's an exciting and talented player and I'm delighted he's here. We surely understand that players take time...sometimes a season or more...to bed in properly. I think he's doing just fine. Today's performance was just shit by the whole team and it's wrong to single individuals out.

I think we need to accept we probably won't see the best of him until next season.
I'm sure we will still see the odd flash of brilliance between now and the end of the season though.

Shaqs out for 3 weeks and comes back into a completely changed forward line, gets man marked and all of a sudden he's crap. What is he offering? Whatever it is, for people like you, it will never be enough. Photocopy your arse, cut a hole, and go f**k yourself.

Most people are just trying to give an honest assessment. At the moment I've been a little underwhelmed with his displays. There have been some great moments and you can see its there but it's been very hit and miss. He's still searching for consistency and we seem to be searching for his most effective role in the team. I hope we get there.

Exactly the same mongy fingers were pointed at Joselu before he got a run in the team. Any player of his nature need a few games starting to get back to their best.
