Great to see a proper striker up top with his arms in the air, constantly wanting the ball knocked up to him. Yep, Joselu was great tonight. He's been watching how Walters does it all season

I've said for a long time that the worse Walters plays, the more likely he is to grab himself a goal. It is actually one of the qualities in him I admire. Pieters is bit the same. He's clearly struggling at the moment but he played himself through his nightmare spell and still did a job for the team.
Today (and indeed Doncaster) were perfect examples of this.
He wasn't alone but I thought he was pretty damn crap tonight, his goal aside.
Joselu, Wolschied and Afellay had decent games. The rest were pretty poor I thought. Bojan was especially poor, again. He's like a lost little boy at the moment.

SJW must play every game between now and the end of the season. That is 3 goals in 4 appearances.

Thanks Tone but we saw for ourselves how well that went for the player the last time you flogged him to death. Lets stick with the Mark Leslie way. Its best for the player, best for the team and best for us supporters.

I don't know if it was a tactic from the management team but he was hardly ever present on the right wing.
I think we need to sign a winger and let Jon fight for a place up front.

He's like a lost little boy at the moment. Agreed. Thought SJW was pretty anonymous and went missing from the wing to put himself into the box; whether that was a tactic so that it drew the LB centrally and gave more space for Johnson I don't know, but it did mean that Norwich could break fairly easily from defence down their left-hand side. Despite them only having 10 men there always seemed a spare man on that side of the pitch for them. But, the fella has a bloody canny knack of popping up with a goal by forcing the issue and hanging around the box which we need to do tbh; sometimes we make it way too easy for the opposition at home by playing it side-to-side in front of their defence. And our little magician has hit a poor patch in form and LMH will have a decision to make for sure. History says that he'll persist playing him and hope he plays himself back into form which can be a dangerous tactic as you can damage the player's confidence as well as frustrate the players on the bench. Personally I think he's worth persisting with; well, for against The Arse at the very least.

He's doing what he's always been capable of when he's recharged his batteries. That is score and create goals and he will be at the top of our Premier League era stats for this for a long time yet.
He also always reacts well when hes got a point to prove, he wont have liked not being in that unchanged starting XI and look what's happened since. 2 sub appearance, 2 starts, 3 goals. Show the man the respect he deserves.

SJW adds that bit of urgency when we slip into overplaying mode.
Against the sort of teams we've been struggling to beat with the false-9 he's perfect.

A great read, Walters is the most under-rated player we've had in the top flight.

Positive article. His lack of showmanship and trickery means the effort, strength, ability in the air, stamina he has are seen as a lesser quality when in reality he has been one of our better players in each of our seasons.
That said it'll be interesting to see if we keep hold of him after this summer; I'd be more than happy for us to keep him as you always know you'll get a performance.

a fantastic article saluting a footballer fans relate to
He already has legend status within the main fan base at Stoke and can only enhance this
Stoke are a club that never forgets players who put in maximum effort
This can be evidenced from the good welcome back to Jerome last night
To all Stokies players and fans alike GO ARNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

A great read, thanks for posting , this part had me laughing out loud - "And on the very rare occasions he has been out of form, he even does that brilliantly. Remember the 4-0 home defeat against Chelsea three years ago this week? Walters grabbed the game by the scruff off the neck - for Chelsea - with two own goals and a missed penalty"

I love how Walters shoves the haters words down their throats every time. He is one of our most valuable player, not in financial terms, but in that he never let's us down & tends to shine when we need it most.
