Perhaps it wasn't, but you were definitely banging that drum earlier in the season and no amount of denial will talk yourself out of it. I agree about the wide cover by the way Only ever said that this manager deserves backing to the n'th degree. I absolutely believe he hasn't been, regardless of our position. He's working miracles. He's just spending the money more sensibly instead of spunking it up the wall, which makes it look like he hasn't had it to spend. When in fact he has spent a decent amount.

Money spent does not equate to quality just look at Man United and 250m spent in 2 years. The job of a manager is to have a good scouting team to get quality at the best price. Hes been backed 100% to get the players he wanted on astronomical wages.

Text this very phrase to a couple of mates who weren't at the game. The bloke oozes class. He was part of the worst transfer window for years wasn't he? This was part of one of benji's 'rants' wasn't it??

Well then we are fucked because our wage bill is 70% of turnover and we cant spend any more if we are to comply with FFP. Better get ready for relegation I suppose

Affelay and Johnson have been my favourite players this season.
I've never seen a Stoke player look so comfortable on the ball in tight situations as I have with Affelay.

We cant spend money we dont have. Im sure Coates will open the purse strings in the new financial year that contains the increased revenues from the TV deal. But the BET365 tax year only starts in MARCH, so the increased revenue will only start from next tax year. So to keep in-line with FFP we can only increase our spending again in the summer.

Thought he was magnificent again yesterday. His touch is glorious, it really is. The way he turned their midfield at times was just beautiful.
What a player.

Afellay surprises me. Didn´t expect much when we signed him, cause i know him from Schalke, he wasn´t good there. But he improves every week and is currently the perfect link in the central midfield position. Good overview.

Just watched a bit of the game again this morning. The lad is pure class. I hope we are going to keep him long term. Believe he's on a two year contract at the moment. Great signing IMHO!

Players get paid wages not transfer fees, that is what drives their decisions and behaviours

Where are these figures? swissramble.blogspot.nl/2015/12/stoke-city-let-them-all-talk.htmlexplained in thorough detail in the swiss ramble blog, which Im sure you read as well MOMO. We will have an extra 20m a year to spend for the 2016/2017 season. Realistically we can keep the exact same squad next season and make one big signing of 15-20m plus salaries and still keep out of the red. IF we dont make a big signing in the summer then questions can be asked of the owners for pocketing the profits

We dont have more money to spend on transfers/wages at the current revenue levels. Our lack of commercial revenue and attendance capacity problems do show T.Scholes is doing sweet FA. But we cant really be spending any more money than we currently are. So a lack of backing is complete and utter tripe

Presumably there is scope or quotes from Hughes and Coates are a deliberate attempt to mislead fans?

I'm sure that getting players off the wage bill (perm some or all of Sidwell, Wilson, Ireland and/or Diouf if the rumours are to be believed) is the key to freeing up the wages to pay any marquee signings we make this window.

Do u think we will be looking at getting him tied down to a decent deal ? Maybe 3 years on top of his original 2 years ? Stil only 29 and for me has been our best signings with Johnson a very close second . Would be gutted if we weren't looking at adding to his 2 years.

Let's see how the next year pans out before we're throwing 4 more years into it. He's only excelled in the last 2 months, let's not give out extensions just yet.
