Excellent again last night. The real deal. Yup, two unusually wayward passes in the first 10 minutes then settled into his usual calm and tidy self. Rapidly becoming my favourite player.

I genuinely love watching afellay. He's a brilliant footballer who passes the ball crisply and quickly.
If the rest of our team passed the ball with the zip that afellay (and wolschied) does, that sometimes slow ponderous play would be seen far less often.
He's a fine footballer alright.

Speechless. Afellay was just WOW! today. Goal next week, he's building up for a net boster. Quality.

If only people knew the tune of Kumbayah, then we'd have a great song for him too.
Embarrassing.

Whisper it, he could reach the level of a certain Frenchman.

I'd go as far as to say he's our most influential player. He's another one who needs his contract extending.

His passing is quicker and more positive than N'Zonzi's ever was. The only downside is his lack of physical presence.

MOTM today. But imo he's been contender for it in the last few weeks. He's a class act that's getting better

Firstly Jack helped us realise we weren't missing Begovic - now Affelay has helped us forget a certain elegant, classy player (N'Zonzi) whom we also thought we'd miss but actually.......................

He was a serious driving force at times.
A little sloppy at times but never stopped wanting the ball or looking to attack.
He's somehow gone from Mr Peripheral to Mr Essential in a ridiculously short space of time.
Top class again.

Affelay made a fool of himself in the West Brom game but he learned a very difficult lesson and has been superb since he got his place back. He brings the ball out of defence superbly and is so calm on the ball. He was the catalyst for the "holy trinity" in the Man City and Man United games and has a massive role in the team. A great buy.

The good thing is that Hughes is not afraid to let players (some egos amongst them) on the bench for a while, to give them 'time' to settle in, or to remind them that they need to get up to the required standard, to get a regular stint in the team. It seems to have paid dividends with Affelay now, and I hope I'll be saying the same about Joselu too soon. Like the way LMH doesn't just stick with players regardless, but rewards good performances.

I think because he started out as a winger he's got the knack for taking a couple of players on quite easily. Can't believe the difference in him looking back to August!

Perhaps it wasn't, but you were definitely banging that drum earlier in the season and no amount of denial will talk yourself out of it. I agree about the wide cover by the way
