the suns effort today has four columns. The entire first two are about man city and their shortcomings. The other two are a quick summary of the match and a grudging acknowledgement that we played well.
their ratings are a joke. We can't overlook the fact that they lacked toure, company and aguero - essentially the spine of their team, so we shouldn't get carried away. But ALL our guys must have been at least two points better than their opposite number.

Every time someone mentions Sterling, my back comes up. He is a diving little so and so. Said the same when he was at Liverpool.

Mr First game as a 9 Year old was Stoke 5 Arsenal 0 in 1970 and over the years i remember the following matches with some clarity
Stoke 3 Leeds 2 Stoke 4 QPR 1 ( 1-0 down at halftime ) Stoke 4 Luton 4
I was very lucky to see the Potters in the 70's with players like
Banks - Marsh - Pejic - Smith - Bloor - Hudson - Conroy - Mahoney - Greenhoff - Ritchie - Salmons -
More recently
Stoke 3 Liverpool 1 Stoke 6 Liverpool 1
Saturday though was on a new level for me ... The 1 touch stuff was breathtaking ... The defending imperious ... All topped off with a decent atmosphere

One result that always sticks in my mind was Stoke 5 Barnsley 4 in the 93/94 season. Amazing day, Saturday will stick in my mind for many years too I'm sure :-)

What a performance, just watched his Bayern highlights too and there's plenty more to come at Stoke once he's 100% PL fit...

If Shawcross had played for Man City, the result would have been different. He would not have allowed the first one for sure. The second, he would have controlled the situation better.
Shawcross to Man Citeh? Fuck off. He's ours.

Shaq did that at one point, near the half way line. Don't remember Bojan doing it. Could have been anybody such is the flair of our current side. True, the Wolly flip flap was masterful.

I just hope that we replay the performance on Boxing Day! It would be the perfect Christmas present for me! Yeah, I'll be a lot more tempted to read their board for a laugh if we repeat the performance/result.

I thought Atkinson made a great decision when Sterling went to ground after the foot incident, he had clearly seen it but decided to let it go and you can see it in Sterlings reaction.
I think Atkinson really enjoyed reffing the game, as said elsewhere we gave him very little to do, and as from the point as an official it's a joy to watch as part of the spectacle, and you really don't want the Boothen on yer back after the first 15 mins of Man City demolition.

Superb read, thanks. "Coming in from the left, Arnautovic adds an air of maverick insolence – always fun for the neutrals, if not always for Stoke fans – and on his day provides the perfect blend of incision and nonchalance that has made him a cult favourite around the Potteries."

Great article but I dont like him mentioning van Gaal struggling with the aesthetic side up the road at Man United.
It might seem a long shot (and depends totally on Pep Guardiola's preference), but Sparky might be raising a few eyebrows with the Man United board with the flair on show at Stoke.
Hughes has been seen as an attacking manager without the ability to have a solid defence. He looks to be the full package at the moment, and Man United have always preferred homegrown British managers.
Thats the biggest downside of the all the media attention

Thats the biggest downside of the all the media attention I'm not sure you could compare MH's situation with the dilemma that faced Lou at the time he moved. And the ground rules are changing what with previously considered middle order sides looking like challengers.

I love this bit:- It is no exaggeration to say that Stoke’s performance against Manchester City was one of the most exciting and flair-laden of any side this season, and almost certainly the most impressive the club has produced since rejoining the top flight seven and a half years ago.

From Bluemoon forum:-
First Half - swap Demi with Shawcross - and we would not have been so open. Out CH's are like soft cream centre. -
