I thought we didn't care what these people thought? Or was that only when they were being derisive?
Fuck 'em all off. Stoke City will always been a team of heroes, regardless of their superpowers!

The Mirror is just as bad and apparently Butland's save turned the game suggesting they were all over us until that point? I think we were 2-0 up before he even touched the ball weren't we? Stoke: Butland 7: Superb first half save turned the game Johnson 7: Tough job marking Sterling but stuck to it well Shawcross 7: Different side when he plays, marshalled brilliantly Wollscheid 6: Stood firm as City clawed way back into game Pieters 6: Solid job on left to support midfield out wide Cameron 7: Showed real power in centre to dominate midfield Whelan 6: Important job linking play, and worked hard Shaqiri 8: Pocket battleship, was real influence in game Afellay 7: Some great touches and ghosted through City defence Arnautovic MOTM 9: Took City apart with his incredible movement Bojan 7: Some fine trickery on ball and linked attack well Subs: Joselu 6 (Bojan 71), Van Ginkel 6 (Shaqiri 76), Walters 6 (Affelay 85) City: Hart 6: One magical save in second half, but not best game Sagna 4: Had no answer to the running of Arnautovic Otamendi 5: Booked. Still looks to be struggling with pace of game Demichelis 5: Had no one to mark, and couldn't mark anyone Kolarov 5: Decent enough going forward but poor at back Fernando 4: Amazing he stayed on pitch embarrassed early Fernandinho 5: Struggled with conditions and out of sorts De Bruyne 6: Couple of flashes of brilliance but not enough Silva 5: Never got into game and real anonymous figure Sterling 7: City's only outlet for much of game, skilful Bony 4: Offered no outlet at all, and needs to do better Subs: Delph 6 (Fernandinho 56), Iheanacho 6 (Bony 57), Navas 6 (Silva 62) Mirror Crap

They really enjoyed our game, but will they also enjoy it on 26th this month? Don´t think so.

Joey Barton is an excellent pundit. While I agree his voice is marginally less boring than Owen's or Shearer's (despite his gargling), seemed to me he was just trotting out the same superficial, cliche-ridden pap every other ex-pro does. Plus, he's still a nasty little thug who the Beeb shouldn't touch with a barge-pole.

popping to the shop yesterday I decided to buy the Sun, as I think their football coverage is usually very good.
Having read the report I thought I must share their player ratings with you. Now not having the Sun with me (I'm at work) I am doing this by memory
Butland 7 Johnson 6 Shawcross 7 Wollschied 7 Pieters 7 Cameron 8 MOM Whelan 7 Shaqiri 7 Arnautovic 8 Bojan 7 Affelay 7
for Man City most scored a 6 apart from David Silva who scored a 7..........yes that's right David Silva played as well as Shaqiri, Bojan and Affelay according to the Sun, I did go to the game Saturday and from what I recall Silva hardly touched the ball before being dragged off. If Silva was a 5 that's as much as he was worth, Shaq on the other hand was at least an 8 if not a 9, for me Bojan and Affelay were 8's also. it does make me wonder about the bias in the Sun
Cam had a very good game but MOM performance???
Get it in the oatcake Smudge!! They're positively glowing scores compared to the Mail!

Are the Mirror taking the piss with their assessment of Sterling? 7? The same as Bojan and Afellay? Glen Johnson had one of his easiest afternoons of the season.

Yeah they are having some injury troubles but their back-up players are not Premier League standard.
Otamendi Demichelis Fernando and his twin Fernandinho
So much money spent on middling players and squad fillers.
They need to stop trying to sign Messi and bolster their defensive midfield and defence.

Joey Barton is an excellent pundit. I agree with a lot of what he says, but you can't talk sense one day and stub out cigars in kid's eyes the next. Just have too little respect for the man. I can't take him seriously or respect his viewpoints on anything quite honestly To be fair, that incident happened over 10 years ago. He was about 21. Are you telling me you didn't do stupid shit when you were that age? If we're judging him fairly and not on his history then he's an excellent and surprisingly observant pundit.

Far better than some of the other munchkins on there and seemingly not afraid to say what needs to be said. His reputation goes beyond him but that's a whole topic in itself.

40 years following Stoke and we've probably had better results but I can't remember a better performance. Given the league leaders were the opponents, could be right. Maybe v Liverpool in the 70s did we beat them 2-0 in their pomp?

Strong argument for Cam being MoM in my opinion, he absolutely bossed midfield from start to finish, he set the tempo and his energy allowed the others to play.
We've missed a player doing that.

That was a great watch, pity this type of story does not get more mainstream airtime. A few good recent articles on Coates, Shaq and Stoke in general in the times and telegraph, ( and the Mail!) over the last few weeks that have captured the real story and not the lazy shite you usually get. PS Crooks continues to betray his roots though! To be fair, MOTD2 Extra is "simulcast" on BBC 2 and Radio Five Live so I listened to the show while making some lunch. So I think it's pretty mainstream and a lot of radio listeners will have heard it.

With the exception of Robinson none of them played pro football but they're just so much more knowledgeable than some of the ex pros you get on sky. Excellent listening. Get the likes of Henry, Owen and McManaman off and replace them with these guys and football will be so much better for the changes. Quite. That's why I listen to the Guardian Football Weekly podcast religiously (which Amy Lawrence appears on regularly, and which has the added advantage of being funny as well) and fast-forward all of the "analysis" on MOTD.

I enjoyed reading that tbh, some very complimentary stuff.
This made me laugh
"The wind is against every team that has to misfortune to travel to that ground.
Stoke harnessing the power of the Gods should be against the rules."
