Affelay YES and ginkel NO to start Saturday ? Agreed. MVG did play well tonight, but Affelay has been playing well for a few games recently and deserves the chance to start. MVG should get the chance to come on over the next couple of games. It's all of a sudden become difficult for the centre mids. Whelan is first choice, Adam has generally played well in DM, Bojan is almost undropable, Ireland has never done anything wrong when played and then there's Affelay and MVG. How did that all happen?

I feel like if bojan was anybody else but bojan just simply because of the hype and last years performances. Affelay would be nailed on. Tonight we definitely saw his best position is also behind the striker. But personally I don't think bojan has offered much recently other than his goal at Southampton.

Not sure you've seen the news but we picked up this manager. Apparently they call him "Sparkly" or something. Anyways he's recommend a few lads to sign. He was pivotal in signing Shakira, she says "...his hips don't lie."

Think you have to remember it was against a weakened Championship side.
Affelay deserves a go but where?

In place of adam, man city may not be the match to try that though. if we go behind, may be a good ploy. I would start joselu in place of walters.

Purely based on performances tonight, Affelay would get a start on Saturday, Joselu might get a start, MVG might also but not in front of Adam or Whelan, John Walters would not get a start. Walters was our weakest link tonight and getting caught offside, as often as he was, is criminal. He needs a good rest.

Cameron was superb as well, not far behind Affelay for MOM.

Has got to be the midfield two.Geoff's been used sparingly in midfield so far but he,s always impressed.Quick and clever on the ball,i think he'd help our talented 3 in getting in better positions further forward.

Think you have to remember it was against a weakened Championship side. Affelay deserves a go but where? I understand Wednesday made 7 changes from Saturday's game but if that weakened their team, then that is very naive management on their part. An opportunity for a semi final and they throw it away? Naive and stupid on their part. Don't know Wednesday's players, so can't really comment on whether it was indeed a weakened team.

Manager must be of the TP mould

Cant understand why he has not put him in there this season - his energy would not go a miss against City too

I'd put him in against City, then bring Charlie on for the last 20 mins.

I think it's time to try Cameron instead of Adam now, it looks like it should be a perfect fit, he's quick and does hold the ball very well
Was also impressed with V.Ginkel tonight, thought he did very well especially when getting forward

Going to be a real tough one after tonight's stroll in the park. I reckon we need to play Whelan and Cameron in front of our regular back 4 to give us a solid base. Arni is the only forward in real form, although Affalay has impressed me with the amount of time he seems to have on the ball and is worth a game to see if can create more chances, but I don't know where? We definitely need speed to hit them on the break, so Diouf has to play. That means a choice between Bojan and Shaqiri for the last slot. I can't believe I just wrote that!!! or ever would write it about a Stoke side.
Playing 2 wide men against ManC seems to me to be a luxury we can't afford. What a quandary? Am I suggesting we drop our record buy?
Butland
Johnson Wolly Ryan Pieters
Cameron Whelan
Affalay Bojan Arni
Diouf

Afellay and Van Gink both had great games, but to be honest a woeful Wednesday side hardly laid a glove on them and they had so much time. Saturday will be a different world

Saturday will be a different world True, but in Afellay's case it was no flash in the pan - he's looked good in each of his sub appearances recently. I'd play him in Saturday in place of Adam who has looked to be off the boil in the last few weeks. Maybe a rest will do him good.

For me right now the only 2 players places in doubt are Adam and Jon. Sat I'd go with Afellay and Diouf respectively

Not sure about this. I see why there's a case for Camerons engine in midfield - could be useful for bringing us forward as well.
I do think Shaq will play though - Man City will absolutely leave space for us to counter, but they're a lot more organised than some.
A real though one. I'd be perfectly happy with a point. But as usual, with these games, I sort of fancy us to win!

I think the team constantly needs a change or two in this league to keep everyone fresh and on their toes , I agree SJW looks like he needs a rest Bojan and Shaquiri could not complain too much if they were left out on current form and that bothe Cameron and Van Ginkel looked strong last night to consider maybe giving Adam a break , Affelay deserves a run in the team for sure . All good problems for a manager

Morning all, looking forward to Saturday. Looks like we may have the rarity of Aguero Silva and De Bruyne playing together , a beautiful sight to behold.
