In theory, we should be able to rest players and still beat Doncaster. I don't mean any disrespect to them but rather pointing out the fact that our back up players are still premier league standard. Of course it isn't always that straight forward... That's my worry. The better players theory is true, but a scratch side made up of a collection of squad players pulled together for a one off game might struggle against a team with a real understanding. Don't worry, the boys train together everyday, understanding won't be an issue. The only issue will be complacency.

Listening back to the full presser it sounds like Ireland and Bardsley could yet feature. Given and Cameron the only players "definitely out" amongst them.

I wondered when you would spend time discussing the impending game with the minnows . Are you finding it a little EPL on here? Don't be daft lad, we are always happy on our fora to discuss a game with other supporters early doors . Now the day itself is rude. Now I'll piss off and leave you big Premiership boys to discuss how easy it should be to beat a team in form in a cup match with your lads Enjoy your day out, btw it's freezing up here so wrap up warm. lol

A week ago this was the greatest team we've ever had according to some on here. IF we lose tomorrow with what I hope are 11 changes I hope there's a degree of realism. Even so we ought to be able to put a side out to get through but you never know. Suspect I'm pissing in the wind but I can only hope.

I'd easily take a loss tomorrow to save our legs for the more important Liverpool game at the end of the month.
Edit: But we all saw the reaction on here when we put two sides out in the same match in a pre season friendly, so like you say, you're pissing in the wind.

If we're complacent then I reckon a nervy 1-1
If we're at it from the whistle, I reckon 4-1 to us. 2 from walters, 1 from crouch and Ryan to open his account (and score from a corner too!) with them scoring either from a corner or a 30 yarder that gets shown over & over again on MOTD FA Cup highlights for decades

Tommorow is important just to lift morale after the last game and obviously give ourselves a chance in the cup. Personally a completely different team from any of the last two games would be great. My team would be:
Haaguard Wilson (Not sure if he's injured) Texiera (Not sure if he's on loan at Fleetwood still) Wolly Bardsley Sidwell Adam Moha Odemwingie or Diouf Ireland Joselu or Crouch
Assuming all of these players are fit or still at the club haha!

I wondered when you would spend time discussing the impending game with the minnows . Go on then, give us the low down on Donnie. Are you guys goal-crazy at both ends under Ferguson or was that just a trait of his Peterborough side? Yep we are but perhaps that is a trait of Ferguson's teams. His mantra is 'we will score one more than you and will fight to the very last minute'. Now that could play into your hands should your lads have too much ball up front. The manager is maturing and still learning and if anything is far more tactically astute than when he was managing the Posh. He knows what to tweak and who to tweak it with and has got rid of a couple of players that stunk the changing room out . They partially caused the demise of Paul Dickov who apparently couldn't control the team. His additions are strong and the squad is getting stronger by the day and of course he is the son of Ferguson and knows the game both as a player and a coach not unlike Mark Hughes ( for the record one of my favourite players - I once sold him a car in Stockport too ). Nice bloke. He is likely to play a 3-4-3 line up with very fast midfielders supporting both the attack and the defence. Believe me they are fast and strong up front and currently full of confidence. We have big match players that should impress you combined with our own youngsters and Premiership loanees.

Will Andy Williams be up front tomorrow mate?Last time he played against us I'm pretty sure he scored twice when Swindon knocked us out of the Cup at the Brit.

If you're saying the games between now and the 2nd leg don't matter I disagree Yes obviously, but IF OFFERED BY SOME DEITY I'd personally be ok with losing every other match (between now and then) if it meant winning the Liverpool one. Obviously just hindsight and one that won't be shared by anyone at Stoke city.
