We needed an extra man in midfield and we had two centre forwards on the pitch. Joselu offered more mobility. Right decision.

Good win at a team who had a real go though the way O'Reilly was bigging them up you'd think they were Brazil. We were rusty but lets not forget half the team have only played 1 or 2 games the whole season so just wont be match fit and have not played in that formation or together on a regular basis (I'd be surprised if Bardsley, Wilson, Crouch and Diouf have played more than 10 games between them all season). So a job well done as we're through and our best players have been rested. I thought the ref was dreadful and where that added time at the end came from at the end I'll never know. If the ball hadn't gone for a goal kick he'd have carried on. Agree about the ref some of your defenders got away with murder today. Pleased you remarked on it. Absolutely seething at our end of the ground at the way our players got constantly man-handled , the blatant penalty that he decided not to see, Tyson also got a sneaky elbow in the face whilst in the penalty area. I will concede one point the way you got the job done and kept 11 men on the field was miraculous. There were 6 subs in the 2nd half and 2 players that needed attention......5 minutes in anyone's books unless you are wearing rose-tinted glasses. Cheers for a good game and your magnaminous attitude. .

Fun and games row S (back) below corporate boxes, next to dividing screen. Group of about 10/12 lads joined soon engaged in banter with several mature but clearly inuberated tossers from above obviously having enjoyed a nice lunch decided to ask our lads of their parentage especailly after their equaliser. Nothing really nasty understand we supplied them with some loose change and coppers kept order no-one thrown out. Went quiet after Jonny's goal. Although Donny management may be sad at result they did give us a clap at the end (and counting the cash and no doubt their income from the pies and ale) from 13000 crowd. Good day out! In-uber-ated? Were they ordering taxis with the loose change you "gave" them

We are brilliant at digging up keepers.

Haugaard looked good
Walters has the presense and mind to score.
Whelan can calm down a game from the bench.
Joselu looks good.

Keeper making his debut, full backs hardly played all season, 3 of the front 4 out of their favoured position and playing regularly, we did look like a team thrown together at times but managed to get the victory in a good hard fought game, I was hoping odemwingie might get 5 mins at the end and not sidwell.

Another positive for me, which I mentioned after the Liverpool match and compared to this time last season, is no obvious significant injuries.
Walters has paid back his resigning fee with today's goal taking us through to the next round.
Comments on MOTD that the lower clubs in a relegation fight will be interested in Crouch after today's goal. That's positive if we can trade him for a better player.

Sponsors are usually to pissed to give the correct Man of the Match mate but he looked a very assured player today.Your team did you fans proud mate and surely you'll be challenging come the end of the season? I hope so SM our fans have had a yo-yo last 15 years from paupers to kings , finals at both the Millennium and Wembley stadia and promotions/demotions in between. They deserved that and hopefully many of the 'glory' fans will think there was enough to entertain them. It was just a shame that we were short of 3 of our better players but that's life. ( Wellens, Coppinger and Forrester) A few of your lads put a good shift in but overall Mark Hughes will no doubt feel disappointed I used to live in Donny. I did not expect anything less than a full blooded cup tie. Rovers fans are just as passionate as Stokies. I think it gave a few of our players a wake up call. The whole experience today was great. I think Mark Hughes will sleep well tonight knowing he has negotiated a difficult cup tie, against a passionate and committed Rovers team, and rested a few players. For what it is worth I thought we were lucky to come away with a win, a draw may have been fairer. Overall this away game was a much better experience than the normal premier league one, and much easier on the pocket. Good luck for the rest of the season you should at least make the play offs and maybe make automatic promotion. Enjoy your football and good luck.

Not sure how Crouch got closer to 100 Premier League goals but you're dead right about Joselu and Haugaard oops (Crouch) Crouch's 2 goals in the cups this season (1 in each) take his overall Stoke takedown to 44, meaning that he has now scored more goals for us than any other club (42 with Liverpool). He's also played more times for us than any other club.

6) Hughes's impression of our support
All managers clap their fans of course, but the second the game ended and he was done with the handshakes, he looked out to our supporters and clapped... and kept clapping. It did not seem like just a gesture, I think he was genuinely impressed with you guys that went today, kudos to you.

What Tyson did on Woolschied would probably have seen a Stoke player sent off for in the PL, I've seen this penalty decision and still can't see it.

We were absolutely shite.
But I thought we did enough to deserve the win just as it never felt uncomfortable.
Haugaard and the front 4 did well. Shawcross was ok. Bardsley and Wilson were their normal selves. Adam, MVG and Wolly were fucking atrocious.
Tyson should have walked for his kick in the bollocks of Wolly.
Wolly was probably lucky not walk for his pathetic push early in the first half.
2 fantastic goals and we're into the next round. Good stuff.
