Hello all, I know there are a few Donny based Stokies on here but if I can be of any help with info on Donny, parking, pubs etc I will keep an eye on this thread until Saturday & help where I can. From what I have already read a few are concerned about the distance to the ground, it is not too bad a walk (although through a horrific area!) best bet would be a shuttle bus from next door to train station or if there is 3 or 4 if you then jump in a taxi (about £5) before game & jump on a bus back from outside the ground, plenty of taxi ranks around, if you get up the top end of town the Salutation is a great boozer. Those going on the coaches to the Palfreys (2 minutes walk from where I live!), it's a decent place & not a bad pint although not that cheap, if any of you have kids going with you there is a decent indoor soft play area at the pub to keep them entertained. Good luck tomorrow

Palfreys lodge, Cantley doncaster. 5 coaches booked in and minibuses. All welcome. Ring Joe on 07961718546 to book any coach or minibuses. Hello Stoke fans, I'm from Doncaster and the Palfreys is my local. I go in there 5/6 times a week. The landlord mentioned Stoke fans were on with calling there before the game and all I can say it is an absolutely perfect venue for you all. It's a huge pub with a massive function room at the back. It's got a huge car park that will easily fit 10 coaches, nowhere else around us can accommodate so many coaches. It's only 5 minutes from the stadium. Beer prices are all around £3, and I'm sure he'll have food on for you all as well. Best of luck on Saturday and best of luck in the league, you boys are flying.

Plenty of decent pubs in Doncaster, however if you're going by coach, it probably ain't too feasible. If you get the train to Doncaster, I'd definitely recommend getting a taxi to the ground, it's too far to walk.
If you're on a coach, Palfreys is a no brainer, it'll be a great welcoming atmosphere. Loads of different beers on, range from like £2.90 to £3.10.

I'd definitely give Telford a go - maybe subbed on at 60 mins in place of Joselu.

Is that a 5 minute drive though, as it looks longer in distance to the stadium as it does from the train station? Google maps has the train station 1.9 miles away, and the Palfreys 2.4 miles away for the real ale drinkers on here who are going - www.caskcornerbar.co.uk/

A good bet would be park at the Dome leisure centre & walk the (picturesque) route around the lake, 10-15 minute walk to ground. Advantage of the Dome (apart from a bar that does good food) is when you head home turn right at the roundabout then left at the lights & your on the A638 which if you stay on you will hit the A1, don't follow m18 signs as you will be back in the match day traffic

Palfreys is a 5-10 minute drive from the stadium, slightly longer on a match day, walking from Palfs to ground would take somewhere around 45 minutes

Just to keep everyone in the loop, fraught beers/lagers in the Palfreys include...fosters, Carling, coors light, strongbow, Stella, john smiths, tetleys and Guinness off the top of my head. There's numerous bottled beers as well obviously. It's obviously personal preference but it's probably the most suitable, and I imagine you'll probably have it to yourself at that time and as I said its 5-10 minutes away from the ground.

I'm as keen as anyone that we have a good FA Cup run, but after tonight's performance I think a lot of our first choice players need a week's rest before the Norwich match, which is a "must win".
We cannot risk losing again to a poorer team than us so we need our strongest team out next Wednesday. We need the 3 points to keep in the top half Prem hunt, so we should take risk against Doncaster.

Bench; Eve/Given, Wollscheid, Adam, Shenton, Walters/Moha, Diouf, Crouch

Can we have this at the top now please or do we need to do a bit more 'grieving' over a tie that still has 90/minutes left to play ?

Haugaard Bardsley, Shawcross, Muniesa, Wilson Whelan, Adam Diouf, Van Ginkel, Walters Joselu
Main guys need a rest, strikers need games. Joselu can drop wide and cross if needed.
Wouldn't play Crouch or Odemwingie, last thing we need is to cup tie them.

Assuming Given and Diouf injured:
If we want to go for it:
4-2-3-1
JB GJ-RS-PW-EP Whelan-Affelay Shaq-Bojan-Arnie Joselu
Or If we want to rotate the squad:
Haugaard Bardsley-RS-PW-Wilson Adam-MVG Walters-Ireland-Muniesa Odemwingie
Highlights the need to buy a midfielder tho...unless Ireland finally steps up... And the importance of Ryan and Wolls. I have confidence in the squad players and they could all get a run these 3 games. For some reason I fancy Muniesa to do well as an option in Arnies role.

It'll be interesting to see what team we play at Doncaster. It's a potential banana skin, but much of the current first XI desperately need a rest, especially with games with Naaarch and the Arse coming so soon afterwards. I think it will be closer to your squad rotation team, but with Wingie wide right, Walters wide left and Crouch up top. Muniesa may play at the back so one of Ryan or Wolly rests too.
My team for Donny:
Haugaard
Bardsley Wollscheid Wilson Muniesa
Adam Van Ginkel
Odemwingie Ireland Walters
Crouch
Naaarch will come and sit in, so the false 9 system may not help us - we may well need Diouf to stretch the play with his pace or Joselu as more of a target for BMX to play off. The Arse will come to play, so it could work better against them, as it did v the Manc clubs. Can we play close to the same 11 in both games? It worked for the Man Ure and Everton games, but we've looked pretty flat in the two games since.

Give everyone a rest against Doncaster if possible.
After that:
Standard back 5
Whelan Afellay
Shaq Bojan Arnie
Joselu
