I'd love Stoke to get to the final and while we are in the competition there is always hope but four horse race or not the odds are to win the competition and the odds should be 16/1 not nine to one. Realistically our best chances of progress are drawing Everton . We would watch two excellent games over two legs. Getting to the final would almost guarantee us Europa Cup football as I see both Man City and Liverpool finishing in the top four. Sorry to be the party pooper but if you are true to your beliefs I am sure you will agree with me!

In fact I think they may have changed it for the FA Cup as well now.

That was the FA cup, different rules here.

Is the draw immediate or do we have to wait for them to stroke Klopp for half hour?

The rules have changed now. Have to win the cup. Not necessarily. A cup win or 5th in the league to do it on our own results alone, but we can finish as low as 7th and get in if other results fall right.

Did we beat Man City when we got in the Europa? We just need to get to the final! The rules have changed now. Have to win the cup. Mr Platini changed the rules, only cup winners can enter the Europa league now, but if the CUP winners claim a champions league spot they then take 6th and even the 7th placed team in the league if both cups are won by champions league qualifiers.

To clarify - as today's Sentinal confirms - the losers of the FA Cup and the League Cup no longer qualify for Europe. The rules have changed for both competitons - a UEFA decision. EDIT: polo beat me to it.

He meant (and specifically) in the context of this competition, ie. you can't qualify for Europe by being the runner up in it.

I'm not sure I'll be celebrating, whoever we get, or wherever we play the first leg!!!
I just want to believe we can do it in the Semi's. If we're 'on-it', I think we can....

To be honest I think is was the qualification for Europe by French non league teams who reached their cup final which brought about the change, and also fecked up the coefficient of French teams as a result

Can't recall the last time the semi finals were an all north west affair. Although we are technically on the cusp.
