Whoever we get we're in for a tough match over two legs. And so will our opposition.

This morning driving to work -listening to Talksport
(yeah I know I know) but
as usual, they had their pet bookies on spouting odds as to whose to win the Capital one cup thus:
Citeh = 4/5 on
Everton = 5:1 or 6:1 was it ?
Liverpool = 7:1
(I dont even recall them even mentioning Southampton in the part I heard )
then :-
Stoke City = outsiders at = 9:1
gripping the steering wheel a bit tighter and yelling at the radio
'Wait a minute you bastards - Liverpool aren't even through their semi yet'
just shows you what we are up against - doesnt it ?
and, as for tonight - take a wild guess who Im hoping wins

I wouldn't be too bothered if we had Man City and it was just one leg at the Brit or a neutral ground.
I just fear that at the Etihad we will get blown out of water and put us out of the tie completely.

We seem to thrive with the counter-attacking game right now, and we also seem able to keep clean sheets so maybe a better chance than ever!

True enough -they do actually ring me from time to time
they know Im reasonably lucid - can usually manage to string a sentence or two together and, wont swear on the radio
so Im a safe bet - if they are struggling
mind you - I couldnt get a word in edge ways last night because a certain 'Denis Smith' was holding court
and who am I to try to shout him down ??? ) (a true legend and credit to S.O.T )

I really can't see much wrong with those odds. We have the lowest position in the league compared to the others, so on that alone, you would expect us to have the longest odds - which really aren't a long way off what is being offered for Liverpool or Everton. As for Liverpool not having beaten Soton, well, the bookies have to make a "book" and create odds in order to generate bets. Liverpool seem to be turning a corner under Klopp so the odds are about right.
As mentioned earlier, 9-1 in a four horse race isn't bad. I'm in!

Saints odds were shorter than ours too though, which is pretty crazy considering they'd have the same task as us PLUS beating Liverpool.

Problem we have in the bookies eyes is the 2 legs thing.
We could beat any of those sides except man city in a one off game but over 2 matches we will be far less fancied.

No and they are not much more fancied than us but they are above us in the league table though so the odds make sense to me at least.

No team will put a weakened side out.
Man Citeh and Liverpool are serious dangers. Klopp is spotting a free one in his first season and Pellegrini needs trophies, and even that might not be enough to keep his job.
