I've already said this on two or three other threads. We need a proper goal scoring striker! When is this club (that I love, and want to see win every week), going to realise? I do not care what anyone else thinks. We bloody well need one! Rant over. We have one. He's in the thread title.

Exactly, he misses chances but he gets in positions and his goals to minutes ratio is good, outstanding in our team. 3 PL goals this year out of our 9 in 5 starts which includes WBA and also Arsenal when he was messed around positionally

Diouf should have been on for the last 20 mins. Pace and power sadly lacking

Our best defender this season so far by an absolute mile.

Its 1am in the morning and we have just been talking about that very block.
Fantastic defending from Erik Pieters who is easily one of our best and most consistent players.

We will struggle to score at this level with Walters as our main goalscoring threat.
He's no Jamie Vardy. You need pace at least.

Thought he was terrible today, deserved a start after his goal on Tuesday but posed very little threat to the Newcastle defence, I was praying Hughes would do a straight swap for Diouf no later than the hour mark.

I'm not overly impressed so far this season with what Hughes is putting out, in that I mean he's insisting on playing the possession game but sacrificing any central attacking intent by insisting on a grafter up front.

If only we'd bought Yarmalenko instead of Shaqiri.

Good solid point off a bottom of the table rival woodland take thar all day long 8 games to get 7 poked now to meet the half way target very very tough given they include Chelsea , Man Utd , Man City , Everton Palace and Southampton but for today you woken take it and it's not today or I'm the nedt seven we have made our first half so tough . Player wise neither bojan or Shaq would start for Me next week but Cameron , Walters , shawcross , Adam Diof all would against a wounded Chelsea WTF!!!!!!!!!

Phenomenal block. Two players had no idea the offside flag was up and that was erik and there striker. How he kept that effort out I'll never know. He is going be a Stoke City legend that lad

Who are these rival woodlands? Epping? Sherwood? New? Is this where the gravity crocodile and the air baboon live?

I must say I don't think it was an offside situation from the replay I've seen, but anyway a fantastic block. He made one against Bournemouth too that looked a certain goal!

Pieters is getting better and better. If the back four of Johnson, Ryan, Wolly and Pieters can stay together for a few games we will get results. What concerns me still is that Whelan is playing his socks off but Adam is very hit and miss. Hoped MVG would be the answer but doesn't seem so. Ireland and Sidwell are also hit and miss, don't particularly like Cameron in that spot but he may be the best short term solution as at least he can tackle. I appreciate that Adam has stepped up to the plate to help Glen out this season after being used in his more natural position alongside N'Zonzi in the second half of last season. But I really don't think Adam has the engine to play the N'Zonzi role now N'Zonzi has left. N'Zonzi had the engine to help out the defence and then surge up to join the 3 in front of him time after time during a match. OK, N'Zonzi never scored enough goals for all his surges but his sheer energy gave opponents a lot more to think about than Adam does by remaining too deep to cause them problems. It is ironic that Adam has the finishing ability which would have made N'Zonzi absolutely top class - but in the set up we are playing at the moment, he rarely gets far enough forward to use that finishing ability.

Not really paid any attention to Newcastle until yesterday, so I was surprised to see how awful the back of their new home kit is. Difficult, on a lot of the MOTD coverage, to recognise their traditional black and white stripes, mainly because there aren't any. Has to rate as one of the worst designed strips ever.

He kept going past Ake like he wasn't there, Ake should have been booked for about 4 fouls on him and others but never was. Then he got subbed off and we bought Crouch and we no one on the right to cross to Crouch. It was ace.

The problem is those black and white stripes. It's difficult to come up with a number design that isn't obscured. They have tried red numbers, to little effect. Their best bet would be to copy Juventus and have a black square on the back with a white number in it.

On reflection after 24 hours cooling off I think a number of players yesterday found the game too soon after the Chelsea match and all the adrenaline and exhaustion. They held it together in the first half, but as usual without the "cutting edge" MH refers to. But in the second half the wheels were starting to come off and we witnessed a great goal keeping display.

If only we'd bought Yarmalenko instead of Shaqiri. And you know for a fact that he'd have been an instant hit? If we bought Yarmolenko and he hadn't hit the ground running we'd have had people saying "if only we'd brought Shaqiri".
