The manager isn't shit n neither are the players imo mate, 4 points at least out of the next two games n it will all settle down, we dropped a major bollock not signing a holding midfielder but we'll be ok. Wasn't Van Ginkel a holding midfielder? More fight and more balance, Woolly and Wilson at centre half, Cameron alongside Whelan, I'll change that to a proven holding midfielder northwich, we've just been really naive to think we didn't need one. We will be fine though!

What about pushing Muniesa into midfield ?
I agree that the Cameron / Muniesa combination has to change but I don't think Cameron is technically good enough in midfield

Muniesa into CDM instead of Cameron and play Wilson.
Now I think Wilson is an abomination but we'll have to try something, and Bardsley should be resigned to putting the training cones out.

Putting in a few tackles in away games might help a little as 4 bookings in those 3 away games probably shows us.

In my opinion, the solution is something like this
1) Accept that Mark Hughes does not get everything right but overall his track record is very impressive and he will therefore come good
2) Accept that his teams are typically slow starters
3) Accept that it will take time for some of the new lot like Shaqiri and MVG to bed in and it will take time to get Bojan back to his best
4) In the mean time we should persevere with the system that has served us so well before (4-2-3-1) and consider bringing Wilson back into the side to give us more experience and physical presence at the back and Super Jon to give us more balance in the side.
5) Ring out our panties and get read for 3 points against Leicester.

One problem we have never sorted is fullbacks we need some class in this area. Never had some full backs who can get forward with class

I think we've had a lot of changes all at once, and whilst it's always difficult to integrate new players en masse, it's made all the more difficult when your Captain is out injured, and your attempts to strengthen certain parts of the squad haven't quite gone to plan.
Centre Mid and Centre Half are the two areas of concern for me. I'd at this stage probably like to see Cameron stuck in CDM alongside Whelan; and Wilson back in and getting game time; if this means Van Ginkel finds himself on the bench then so-be-it. We are getting over-run in midfield so my first instinct would be to shore-up the CDM positions and get Whelan and Cameron sitting 'properly' to protect their Centre Halves.
We have got enough across the front 4, to save us worrying about the CDMs offering anything going forward. First and foremost, we need to make ourselves difficult to break down. We have become too open, too disjointed in midfield, and it's not just 'because N'Zonzi isn't there', but that is not helping.
I have been a little concerned by the type of signings Hughes has made - in other words, highly technical players are great, but too many of them, without steel, and you'll start to suffer. The Wollscheid signing is one that Hughes seems to be accepting that he got wrong - managers usually back themselves with their signings but on this occasion, he's left Wollscheid out. I think he's made an error here simply by backing the wrong horse. I'm really happy with the signings of Shaqiri, Affelay, but I'm less than convinced that we ever needed Joselu, for example, before we start to worry about whether he is any good. Bardsley's no good, let's face it.
If we come out of the next two home games without a minimum 4 points, we have an issue, that is for sure. It's a shame because we had an opportunity to build on what we achieved last season; somehow it feels a little bit like we've ripped up the transcript, and started again on a different tack.

First off we were awful today. Very bad.
Why?
We are a team in transition - more so than in Hughes' first season. The risk taken this year was that having built successfully on Tony Pulis' legacy he's been given his head to put together his own team. And to be fair he's earned the opportunity - and the time for it to come together.
And
Diouf and Arnie weren't fully fit
The 442 didn't work
We missed Johnson - and Bardsley hasn't had game time to get up to speed
Glenn Whelan (Mister Consistent) had a mare. Due one - and unfair to condemn
Cameron and Muinesa are an inexperienced centre back pairing - and got found out
Affley was having more or an influence on the team that was generally recognised?
Jon Walters is understandably pissed off and his spirit was missed
MVG is a talented young player recovering from injury and not quite up to speed in a position that demands game time and experience
So..
Do we go backwards, scrap the season out with the tried and trusted and cling on to the comfort blanket of season upon season of grim survival?
Or
Do we press on with the changes, accept that we'll have some more rubbish performances, probably do worse then we did last year and hope that if it does start together we might be in a position to challenge for a European place next year?
Scary isn't it.
What do I think we should do?
Keep Panicing and Carry On Experimenting in the hope it comes good....
That or become a permenant resident of BenjiLand...

We're not shit.
The manager's not shit.
We ARE worryingly light in key areas.
We DO seem to currently lack a coherent game plan that suits the players we have.
We DO need to sort it fast to avoid a messy relegation battle.
I'm still confident we have the right manager and enough quality in the squad to ease ourselves into midtable but it's pointless pretending we're not significantly short of the side we all want us to be.

I don't think there's a quick fix. We HAVE to drop MVG on current form and tighten up the midfield. I was ridiculed for suggesting Sidwell earlier in the week but he'd have looked a lot more solid.
Still think there is too many attacking players here and it must be hard to coach, we should try to loan a couple out.

The solution is up to the manager. But he must see that Muniesta's not a PL centre half? Brushed aside again for their first and got nowhere near a simple cross for Albion's goal in the last home game. We dearly miss Shawcross and selling Huth was a big mistake.

What I meant was it is pointless over-reacting to poor performances in September, given that we all know we will be crushing it in March.

You know it's going to be bad when you see Bardsley in the starting eleven. He shouldn't be anywhere near it, whatever the injury situation. The solution is Hughes getting tough, kicking arses, ignoring reputations and dropping people that are not performing, although not sure who he's got to bring in to replace them and then also admitting that we appear to have f***ed up big time in the transfer window (in the main) and ensure he uses the Jan window properly, instead of looking for freebies and rejects. Fasten your seat belts guys, we're in for a bumpy ride.

And I love all those players. Only two are left here, one is injured one is over the hill, overall a shit window as we are witnessing, results do not lie we are the worst team in the PL at the moment for a reason, to many if's to many unknown entities, dice rolled once too often, poor decisions, key players sold on the cheap and not replaced with adequate replacements equals problems end of we are in for a long hard season all self inflicted I am afraid.

Good back to basics. Build a team around 4-2-3-1 (why he changed today must have been a brain fart), and start with players that know how to play in this league andor have shown some spirit so far
Butland Johnson Wilson Muniesa Pieters Cameron Whelan Walters Bojan/Ireland Arnie Diouf
Could do a lot worse In fact we already have.
Let the newbies earn their place.

The only area where I'd say we were worryingly light is centre half tbh. My worry is that we've got lots of options in midfield and upfront but Hughes doesn't seem to know which options are best. Just look at the midfielders he's got to choose five from: Affelay Ireland Adam Shaqiri Walters Whelan Van Ginkel Arnie Bojan. Strikers we have Diouf, Crouch Walters (again) and Joselu to pick one from. I know it's a strange thing to say but I think Hughes has too many options in midfield and upfront.

We keep getting overrun in midfield, with teams creating too many chances against us. Something is wrong, either with the system or the players. We can't control the midfield at the moment(I accept we never do against Arsenal). I realize I am in the minority, but I don't think Whelan is as good as many on here do. Just my opinion.
