Will be interesting now how fans react to him Indifferent tbh. He's not a favourite of mine. He can play backup to Shaq (and possibly odem). Happy to see the club not get taken for a ride.

Will be interesting now how fans react to him He won't be cut much slack match day and Jon doesn't react well to that sort of thing does he? Hughes knows what he's doing though, he's had to manage plenty of egos in the past. He probably won't play much.

As long as he continues to give 100% no problem, more time to sign a new contract. Can't blame him for trying to get the best deal for himself

This is why the Transfer Window is daft. Walters has kind of burnt his bridges here with a transfer request that was put in, no doubt, to help speed things up today.
Without the window this could have happened over the course of a few weeks. The club get a fee and an unhappy player off the books and the lad gets his contract.

None of this will affect the way Jon approaches games, if he stays he will give %100 as always because he'll be trying to attract suitors as a free agent at the end of the season, he won't get anything like a decent deal if he drops off the radar and sulks. Even though we'll lose him for free it's still probably the best scenario for both parties as I mentioned earlier

He'll give 100% if he's selected, as he always has.
Glad he's staying and he can handle any of the flack some might want to aim his way.
At least me and Higgy will be happy.

There'd be tactics to unsettle teams and players before certain games, all sorts I reckon. Transfer requests left, right and centre too

So 24 hours ago, he was a tosser who should be made to rot in the reserves, and now he's not so bad after all because he's staying?
Oh the joys of this message board.

Tweeting that he's not going to Man Utd.
Some tweets are funny, others just pathetic, this definitely in the latter.
Stop believing your own hype and knuckle fucking down

Transfer requests left, right and centre too Football got by very nicely for well over 100 years without a transfer window, it would only be missed by Sky. you may not have noticed, but for those 100 years you didn't have teenagers going for fees over £30mill, players publicly stating they're never playing for their chairman ever again and agents that force the hand of every impressionable youngster on their books because of the money involved. footy isn't quite the same as it was back in those days, it's a completely different game both on and off the pitch. whether we like it or not, some kind of window is essential to stop exactly what iwebby is suggesting would happen all season long. should definitely end before the start of the season though

If it makes you feel any better I remain disappointed that lassie is still here. Id genuinely hoped that I'd seen the last of him plodding his way through games. Still, he'll be handy for league cup ties against lower league opposition I suppose.

The cheeky, chirpy scouser routine is wearing a bit thin with me. He tried to engineer a move, force the club to give him what he wanted and then, when he couldn't get his own way, sell him, but failed (he has previous at Ipswich!). I'd have him in the 25, but not the 18, and make sure he's sold in January.
