Thus far this window has been an utter shambles, this after Hughes was promised money is available to sign the next level player.
The prospect of losing begovic, nzonzi and Moses ( 3 of our best players from last season) has left us in the position in which we will have to find suitable replacements for those players just to be on PAR to last season . Just on par, not improving.
So whilst we face the prospect of having a worse team then last year , our rivals ( west ham, swansea, even palace, Newcastle and sunderland are in the process of making big signings) are actually IMPROVING theirs.
After spending next to nothing in 4 windows we should've been in the position to make 3-4 10mill +signings , but instead We're now being linked with free transfers like Glen fucking Johnson.
Thus far it seems money is only available to make 1 big signing (shaq).Do people really think that there is a war chest of Funds available, or are we penny pinching again ?
We have now a month until the season starts, so the pizza boys and coats better get their asrses into gear. Make no mistake, we now need 5 top class signings to improve of last season

Indeed the whole of the management team have a huge job to do to ensure come August 31st we have not only a squad but a first XI which is an improvement on last season. Considering the huge amounts of TV money and potentially reaping close to 20m for the sale of 3 quality players to not achieve this is bordering on negligence and would bring a halt to our excellent progress.

I don't think the issue is spending it it's the problem of getting them to sign. Moses was never our player.
We still have time but we do need to get more players in soon.

We need at least six players capable of first team football. That's a massive ask and a pretty impossible one for our mob.

Moses isn't our player and has made no noise at all about wanting to return at all either on loan or permanent.
You can't force the other 2 to sign, Begovic was average at best post Christmas and N'Zonzi's old man is the issue.
We'll move onwards and go forwards just as we have in the past 2 seasons. Calm down a piece youth!

Based on last season, Begovic for Butland doesn't feel like that much of a loss. Add in the fact that Begovic seems to be a bit of a mardarse, he can go and rot on Chelsea's bench for me.
Huth we hardly used last season, so again, we'll not be any worse off there either.
N'Zonzi is the big one. We need to get that replacement right. Given our struggle to get 'Grade A' players through the door, it's the one I'm most concerned about. Not sure if Cabaye, Flamini (both available) would fit. Roberto would be immense if we could land him.

Well we could do what many of our rivals do, piss money away on shit just to feed the fans urge for new signings and flirt with relegation all season.
Or we can sign players that will actively improve the areas we need to improve and push on, which I'm pretty certain is what Sparky and the Domino's crew will be doing.
The window has been open a week, a week for fucks sake.

As I said to the other poster saying pretty much the same thing, get a fucking grip.
Also, Moses wasn't our player so how that can be lumped in I don't know, money not available, hmmmmmm the three players we've signed so far, were they free?

To me it has been poor so far also.
They need to step this up. Money was promised to be spent and now with the Nzonzi sale Stoke are up by 2m so where is the money to be spent. Yes we bid 12m for shaqiri but we can't keep bidding for unrealistic targets and players who quite frankly don't have an interest in playing for Stoke

Yeah Moses wasn't our player and you can't force begovic and nzonzi to sign new deals, but that still leaves us in a position where we Havnt retained and are losing 3 of our best players from last season, which we are not close to replacing.

So the signings made before 8 days ago didn't happen then, did sky just make them up? Again do you not think it's wise to sign players before the pre season tour to integrate themselves in the team correctly. I'll tell you what mate we'll just leave all our business to the last couple of weeks of the window ? We'll see how that works out...

However you look at it, be it in blind panic or we will be fine in the long run - it ain't started very well at all and anyone who thinks otherwise is in denial We needed a keeper, we needed a centre back and we needed a striker, so far so good, yes we look like we are losing N'Zonzi but its one player, its not like we've lost half a team.

I'm not worried as I'm sure we'll make some decent signings. My only concern is that where I was hoping to sign a Whelan upgrade for CM, we now need a N'Zonzi replacement and a Whelan upgrade (which I doubt we will get).
Other positions like RB and RW I expect to still be upgraded.
As for Beggo, well, we have Butland and it should be simple enough signing a decent backup.
For the LW, I'm expecting us to get Moses on loan as part of the Beggo deal.
Either way, there's no point worrying about bringing players in as they'll typically go under the radar until the deals near enough concluded.

I dread to think how some would have reacted to the sale of Matthews,Greenhoff,Crooks,Chapman,Bould,Dixon or Pesh, Stein, Thorne, Biggins to name but a few with the internet it would have been a pisser to watch it explode.
