So who are these 6 first teamers we're after? A replacement for Nzonzi. A left winger - maybe a backup for Arnie. A backup keeper for Butland. A new right back would be good - but not essential - we've still got the same right backs who got us to finish 9th. Similarly with a right winger. But 6? Really? Goalkeeper Right Back (the manager clearly wants one) New N'zonzi Back up for or the fabled Whelan upgrade Right Winger Left Winger Centre Back We don't need a centre back. Hughes is obviously happy with Wooly. We need a replacement for Nzonzi. We don't need a RB. We have two. We could get a better one. Hughes would obviously like a better one - but it's not essential. Left winger - we need cover or competition for Arnie. Right wing - we could upgrade, but we don't need to. Whelan upgrade - why? If we have 6 new faces plus effectively a new first team keeper - how long do you think it will take the team to gel? It will be back to square one again. Given that we'll have - minus Nzonzi and Bego - the same side available that finished last season strongly - plus Bojan, we really don't need the massive overhaul that you're suggesting. In fact it would set us back massively.

Christ - how did you fuckers cope under Pulis? Or did you find it easier to cope with his transfer policy of only chasing the same 5 players every year and only doing business at 10:55 on the 31st August?

Again have all the deals made before July been made up ? I've got a few razor blades if you want um, you can have them for free, just make sure to mention me in your will. You haven't answered the question... Have we or have we not been able to sign players for 2 months now ?

I think this thread is a shambles. Get a grip. If you don't like the thread why comment ? Or is that too much to ask a full grown man to do ? I'll tell you what, if you promise not to overreact in the future, over something that still has weeks and weeks to run I promise not to comment on a shambles of a thread? Deal? No one is more disappointed than me in losing N'Zonzi but I've started to look at the silver lining...for example his sour faced old man (who never ever smiles...ever) won't be sitting near me this season. See, glass half full.

I always give it a chance mate but we are on the verge of losing the fulcrum of the team in N'Zonzi and imo its going to take a hell of a player to replace him. We are on the verge of losing him mate through no fault of the clubs ....what more could they do ? It's football mutts Not a lot mate i agree but as a set of fans we've become used to keeping hold of our prize assets and not selling them on.I suppose the success we've had brings about these problems.

Goalkeeper Right Back (the manager clearly wants one) New N'zonzi Back up for or the fabled Whelan upgrade Right Winger Left Winger Centre Back Goalkeeper - we have 2 and youngsters We have no keeper good enough to sit on the bench in the Premier League Right back - we have 2 the same 2 that did a decent enough job, a third would be a luxury but not essential The manager wants a new right back more than me and I really, really want one. Whelan upgrade - people have been saying this for years he's still doing a decent enough job and we have back up in sidwell again a luxury to replace him So all this talk about the next level is just hogwash then? thought as much. Left winger - I agree we need cover but have a starter to get by for now Agreedbut we really need one for those three months every year when Arnie's head is on Mars! Centre back - wolly has replaced Huth, we won't sign another. We really, really should though. the nightmare scenario is a knock (certain with Muni) and suspension away.

I for one was a massive critic of our dealings under Pulis and remain so. Pity some others aren't as erm, consistent.

Oh imagine the Forum during the days of 1985/86.... (white flag)
Shambles window? Come on! Would you rather have a Club spunking millions on players who either a) have no intention on joining the Club or b) only use "little provincial" Stoke as a way of a fatter pay packet/better outcome, or just hold back a bit to no doubt buy a player or two whose name has yet to be mentioned.?
Give Wolly a full season & then judge him. Remember Bojan & Diouf 1st few games for us? Did everyone give them the chance & patience? No we didn't! Some people should step back, and have a think about where we actually are.

Thus far this window has been an utter shambles, this after Hughes was promised money is available to sign the next level player. The prospect of losing begovic, nzonzi and Moses ( 3 of our best players from last season) has left us in the position in which we will have to find suitable replacements for those players just to be on PAR to last season . Just on par, not improving. So whilst we face the prospect of having a worse team then last year , our rivals ( west ham, swansea, even palace, Newcastle and sunderland are in the process of making big signings) are actually IMPROVING theirs. After spending next to nothing in 4 windows we should've been in the position to make 3-4 10mill +signings , but instead We're now being linked with free transfers like Glen fucking Johnson. Thus far it seems money is only available to make 1 big signing (shaq).Do people really think that there is a war chest of Funds available, or are we penny pinching again ? We have now a month until the season starts, so the pizza boys and coats better get their asrses into gear. Make no mistake, we now need 5 top class signings to improve of last season you on medication fella...

Ffs grow a pair ....!!!! The window as just opened.. We'll be fine... Do you not think it's wise to sign players before our players jet off to a pre-season tour ? You know to integrate themselves and train and learn Hughes philosophy before the season starts ? No I don't , there's plenty of time

No we could get them to agree, but would have to wait until the window opened to officially sign them, happy with the three we've already signed?

If it's true regarding Given/Johnson it shows our future intent.
At no point have I believed the hype around regarding Kono & Shaqri, complete and utter bull.
So yes up to now it's been a complete and utter shambles taking into consideration we haven't exactly strengthened but lost two major players..
I can see Hughes doing one at this rate.

Nzonzi 6m and Begovic 8m have to be ranked up there with the poorest pieces of businesses this football club has done since Dave Kitson and Dean Whitehead. I don't care if they have one year left of their contract, Cabaye is about to join up with Palace for 10m! Schneiderlein is rumoured to be subject of 20m bids from everywhere, and the most we can scrape together for our player of the season who is 3 years younger than Cabaye is 6m! Cabaye is also rumoured to be asking for 100k a week when he goes Palace, so I hope Coates and Hughes know what it is going to cost to replace him because without a replacement I really feel we will struggle.
The Begovic transfer is equally as puzzling, 8m for a 28 year old reaching his peak, or 10.8m for a 33 year old who only has a few years left in him!

When we settled last years spat with N'Zonzi he should have been given a 4 year contract. He would be worth £20m now! £7m is pathetic Tony Scholes!

If he was happy last year then put him on a fat contract then! Same with Begovic. I'm praying this is a lesson for the future with players such as Bojan, Muni and Ryan to not let them reach the last year of their contract. If someone really wanted Zonz this year we could of got 10-15m easily, same with Begovic. De Gea would go either way, so 8m for a replacement is nothing.

7 million is not a lot considering the player he is and its going to cost in the region of 15 million to replace him, if one good thing comes from this it will be Scholes getting booted out of the club, good riddance.
