I went in before the Hugh Cornwell gig, friday night. It wasn't very busy, a good selection of drunks and old faces from up Town 20+ yrs ago amongst the few. An older crowd. Probably about 8 handpulls, half of them stouts/porters. What I tried was well kept and unless I was undercharged on my round the Bass was less than three quid. Well worth a visit. {It's posher than the old Woodman, no jukebox.} Only been in once since the renovation, nice place, good refurb but I found it a bit odd that the screen had music videos playing but the sound system was playing different music to what was showing.Yeah, a decent skinfull can make me think things like that too

Bearing in mind recently done Chester Shrewsbury. Done Liverpool a few times. Anyone knows good day session places in the sun. Easy to get to from Stoke or Crewe? Try Lancaster 1hr on the train ale trail going on there about 15 real ale pubs

Had a LAINE mangolicious pale ale tonight - really tasty but instant headache territory.

You tried the beer emporium in Sandbach ?
Great selection of bottled beers, from local micro breweries to the larger commercial breweries. They usually have a decent selection of stuff on tap too so you can sit in and sample a few.
Well worth a visit 👍

I've had that. Not a big fan, there's loads of flavour but it's very boozy. Sometimes these strong beers can just taste like somebody has put a cheap vodka double-shot into a normal beer (like Thornbridge's Jaipur X), this wasn't like that, there's enough flavour to make it worth trying, but you can tell it's strong - the best strong beers have deep, complex flavours without the ethanol taste. One of the best >13% beers that I've had is released once a year and is available this week. www.beerhawk.co.uk/goose-island-bourbon-county-stout-2019Tuck one of them away for Christmas.

Mine came yesterday! Gonna have it tonight with the match 👍. Ok let us know how good it is. It was a nice beer mate. Thought it was quite sweet actually so if it's something with more of the yeasty taste you like, then this will be different. Nice and smooth though, but it made my shit horrible. Aside from that, a cracking beer.

The nuts were Big D I think.

Now we've seen people whooping it up in NZ, how do we feel post-lockdown the bars would be? I've been nervously considering what we might expect come, err, October say. Let's consider a route of mine, let's say it's 8.30 and Friday in 'Castle. - Approach Cask bar opposite the "Mu". Sorry mate we've already got 3 tables full please try later. - Ok over to the "Mu". Sorry mate, you don't have a gas mask on, try elsewhere. - Right back up to the Greyhound as you can only get Prosecco FFS in the Alma nowadays. Finally you're in, but there's a few provisos... gloves must be worn and you must be sat in a plastic surrounded area at all times. Please only go to the bar when only called - or only table served. - I forget the Hop Inn and go in another plastic surrounded taxi home.
It's not a great picture, tell me I'm wrong. As, as it stands I don't want to go back to the "new" pub any time soon.

The thing is you can have special serving and payment arrangements, limited attendance time, social distancing and client seperation, intake volume limits, PPE, hand washing and enhanced hygiene regimes, even UV light protection and a standby ambulance, but if you're not 18 or over they're not going to serve you.

Had a pleasant surprise this morning. Mar lady asked me to pick up a package from her place of work on my way in ( she's working from home ). As my firm often does work for hers I assumed I was picking a job up. Was given a package marked fragile. Non the wiser I opened it at work to find it contained a 12 bottle selection of Wincle Breweries finest including three of their 8% strong ales! Rang to see what was afoot only to be told " well if you can't go to the brewery let the brewery come to you!" It must be love! 💘😋👍
