That's what he wants to do, stoke won't let it happen. That's why they have told him to go find a club now and gave him permission to talks to clubs But they can't stop him if thats what he wants, they can't force him to move at the end of the day. No but if they know he'll move for free they can bench him and seriously affect his potential earnings and club stature in the future. It might sound daft but 12 months is a long time in football. Strangely, this is the one time when clubs have power.

The only thing Stoke could really do to try to stop him sitting out the last year to get a big signing-on fee is if they threatened to let him rot in the reserves (or wherever players are sent to rot these days). This would seriously diminish any signing-on fee, and reduce his chances of getting a gig with a major club, as basically, he'd become a forgotten man. Hopefully, the relationship hasn't broken down to that extent as neither side would get what they want or come out of it looking particularly good.

The start of July will hopefully bring more answers. I think it's Butlands time, and begovic is ready for champions league.

If there's any truth, you'dhave to maybe think so? It'll be interesting to see what the keeper merry-go-round throws up.If they can get Bego for a fraction of what they get for Lloris, they'd probably have done pretty well

This is the exact situation in the Bosman Ruling that needs amending. Players should not be allowed to leave for free. However if Asmir doesn't sign before kick off then put him in the reserves or whatever they call it and keep him there for the duration

Would love a deal including Bego and Dembele, would be unreal! I'd be interested in Walker, Yedlin, Capoue, Sambouli, Dembele or Paulinho! Spurs have a very average squad to be honest, a lot of players that could be in mid table sides... The pipe dream signing from them which seems physically possible would be Townsend!

No nonsense, straight-talking from Adam. The more I learn about him off the field and the more I see on the field, the more I like him. He's a keeper IMO (no, not a goalie, he's too small).

Once the de gea deal is done it will spark a goalkeeper merry go round i can see asmir being snapped up by the likes of dare i say it please no arsenal.........man u, spurs etc, from what i saw of jack at the end of the season i feel confident that we have a ready made replacement , the key then will be to get as much money as possible which could be used to strenghen in other areas e.g. full back striker rolls, time to cash in? I think so.

Publicly Spurs have categorically ruled out selling Lloris.
Can't see Bego going there.

Publicly Spurs have categorically ruled out selling Lloris. Can't see Bego going there. Nor can I see him going there !! I remember he went to Spurs [ from Pompey] for talks & medical, and saw Gomes there doing the same thing and went back to Pompey before we signed him. Cant see Bego forgetting that

I think he will move and deserves European football. Those saves were worth at least 6 points this season, we will miss him. Butland is ready to take his place but will need time to settle. All the best Bego if / when you do move

I like Bego he is a good keeper and a very decent human being...however methinks he overestimates his ability in the pecking order of top keepers. The likelihood of a club nailed on for the champions league coming in for him(Celtic apart) is only 50/50 and who wants to play in the SPL just to get CL nogger? He will sign a new deal ..thats my prediction. The other reason is ..his missis..settled with her horses and pushing for Olympic selection she won't want to up sticks now. We hope.

Do people want him to sign a new deal? Is that your ideal situation? We have two keepers which are too good to be anything other then Premier League starters, one of them is going to have to move on sooner or later and for me Butland is a more long term solution and I think his attitude is better then Begovic's. For me the ideal scenario is Bego goes this summer for 8-10 million and Butland becomes our first choice keeper, we'd need to sign experienced backup of course and I still would love this to be Rob Green.

I've been a big fan of Bego's over the years but I don't share your hope. We have reached a position now where either Bego signs a new contract and stays - and we upset Jack Butland - or Bego leaves with my good wishes for the future. I find myself hoping that Bego leaves. Bego had (by his standards) a below par season just ended. I suspect/hope it was because his mind was on a move. The last 3 games played by Jack Butland suggested he was ready to step up - just as Bego was ready to step up and replace Sorensen 6 months after we brought Bego to the club. Bego is too young (in keeping terms) to be sat on the bench and Jack is at an age and a point in his career where he is ready for a starting place in a Premier league team. Unlike clubs like Chelsea we can't really afford the wages to keep two keepers of their quality happy. Given the choice of keeping Jack or keeping Bego - my vote goes to Jack. He may not yet be quite as consistent as Bego is now (although he may prove to be be) but he is certainly as good as Bego was at his age. For me it is a no brainer and if Bego finds a club to fulfil his ambitions, I hope he moves on.
