You are absolutely wrong BuzzB, it's not about Butland it's about what's best for the England team.

Why would you want to put Butland in goal tonight when he has basically played 3 PL games for Stoke? Hodgson has him in the squad because of injuries but it gives Butland valuable experience to be there with the full England squad. What would fans say if he had been selected and had a bad game and conceded poor goals? Should we wrap him in cotton wool forever? The manager obviously rates the lad. What better time to give him some playing time, maybe just 45 minutes, in an experimental friendly? The U21s had a game against Germany yesterday. If Roy didn't think he was ready for the full team he should've allowed him to play and develop with them. He'd get more from that than from sitting on the bench and watching the seniors.

I think Harry Kane looked good. Has a very positive attitude, and doesn't mess about. Good future for him methinks.

What would fans say if he had been selected and had a bad game and conceded poor goals? Yes, he's only played 3 Prem games for Stoke plus some Championship games earlier in the season. All the more reason to give him game time in the U21s if he couldn't be arsed to use him in a friendly against Italy. Absolutely appalling management by Woy.

Remember we are ranked 17th in the World and Italy 10th. Were you banging on about FIFA rankings when we played Costa Rica? You are absolutely wrong BuzzB, it's not about Butland it's about what's best for the England team. Surely what's best for the England team is to find out if we have a young goalkeeper who is capable of stepping in should we need him?

Post match. "When I'm talking, I'm preaching to the converted." - Woy Well Smalling, Walcott, Jones, and Jagielka need to be excommunicated after that first half. Thank god for the messiah Carrick.

The England team delilah is not about Stoke City and our fans, it's about fielding the correct team for the game, Butland needs to play for Stoke first, I think you've got this the wrong way round.

Look we've just had a good result against the Italians and are top of our qualifying group, lets give Hodgson some credit and stop trying make an issue about the goalkeeper and centre halves.

how woy cant see Shawcross is better than the clowns he picked tonight is beyond me from a Villa point of view Delph didnt look at all 'at it' tonight, i hope sherwood wakes him up before Utd on sat ! overall a draw was about right, we could of nicked at the end, but hey ho thats England

Ok then my opinion is wrong, sorry I bothered Lord. You're saying he's shit, I'm saying he isn't, why are you crying about it? The new contract suggests he isn't, doesn't it? Just pm a list of who I think is shit then I'll learn from my mistakes.

As bad as the defence were tonight, there are still a lot of positives to take away from the game. (Carrick's performance, Kane/Rooney partnership, Barkley looking good, Walcott NEVER playing upfront again)

England were flat first half mostly and Delph was probably looking for the more experienced players to pick the pace up. He's probably not going to be an international star but he certainly might be a useful player at England level.

Hart
Bertrand Cahill Shawcross Clyne
Townsend Carrick (or Henderson depending on opposition) Barkley Sterling
Rooney Kane
Subs: Henderson Butland Delph Jagielka Jones Walcott
Not impressed with: Smalling Mason ? (too soon)
Rather have two more regular PL center midfielders than Smalling and Mason in the team.

The second one I think you are referring to (from Kanes cross) defender nicked it off his toes, should have been a corner.Good defending. The last one he tried to put it through keepers legs, good save but he should have scored.

The two major problems are 1. Roy Hodgson 2. The back four
Lest we forget, this is the man who played Gerrard as a screening midfielder, in a midfield 2, in the world cup, with Phil Jagielka and Glenda Johnson in the same back four.
This is the man who just said that in games against better teams like Italy, we may play Phil Jones in midfield.
If Woy is in charge for the Euro's it will be the same old story. We not only need to more English players in the prem - we also need more and better coaches with tactical awareness. It is pathetic that we have a manager who is probably the highest paid international manager who does not know what a midfielder is. If Smalling hadn't been injured we would have seen Phil Jones orchestrating our play for the whole game, don't doubt that for a second.
Hart
Clyne Shawcross Cahill Baines
Carrick
Henderson Delph
Sterling Wellbeck/Townsend
Rooney or Kane
For me Barkley has a lot to learn before he plays at this level. I'd use him as a sub. Ox-Chambo would be a threat to Sterling as well as I think Sterling is still very naïve. We are not blessed with midfielders, until Ward-Prowse gets more games under his belt Carrick has to play.
He should stick to one fucking system and play people in their normal position. Time and again we see those teams that keep it simple doing well in international football.

It's no surprise that we looked a better side when Carrick came on and people were playing in their correct positions. Too many times we have players shoe horned into the team for one reason or another, probably because who they are and play for. The introduction of Barclay gave us some flare in the final third and Townsend had a good cameo performance and scored a blinder.
Basically the clown who is our manager hung out to dry Theo Walcott and Phil Jones.

First half was a disaster and it was only because Italy were bang average that we weren't thrashed. If we'd been playing Germany it would have been half a dozen easily.
