Like anything else, it depends what other options he's got.
But living in the house he's lived in for the last 5 years, playing in the Premier League and being on £3m-a-year holds some appeal surely?
And let's not pretend he's top, top quality.
I think there'd be quite a small list of "more attractive" teams who would a.) think he'd improve them and b.) be able to outmuscle Stoke financially.
But if one of those clubs fancied him, he'd go there.
As someone was saying the other week, MLS may even be attractive. They were saying Mexicans have huge appeal in certain markets over there and a megabucks Designated Player contract in the sun would hold a big appeal.

Maybe we'll change the way we play if we sign the players Hughes wants. Maybe we play the way we do because it best suits the players we have? Just a thought like, given we are talking about potential for next season. I think we'd have seen more evidence of a change before now were that the case Dave. We've kept the same system for two seasons now and the players recruited (with the possible exception of Diouf) seem to have been signed very much with that system in mind. This isn't tony pulis we are talking about here with only one way of playing. If we hang our hat on Hernandez we will have to adapt the way we play. However, I don't think we'd get him and I'm not convinced he's any good anyway.

When your creative midfield players are Whelan and n'zonzi, players who don't have a killer pass in them, its hardly surprising we don't play to his strengths is it?

IF Hughes wants him it isn't because he's got a hard on for a player's name without actually having a idea on how to utilise him.

But you don't need killer passes, half aimless balls in the channels would do, instead we play it to him like Crouch is still up there.

But he still has a preferred system that he's used for the vast majority of his time here and most of his signings have fit into it very smoothly. Given Bojan's emergence in the hole I don't see him negating that position by reverting to a front two as part of his main system.

Hernandez only scored about 4 goals last season so he's no great shakes, he'd be lucky to get a Game if we have a full squad nest Season.

I asked CD if 4-2-3-1 was set in stone, and he more or less said yes(apologies if I have got that wrong!). Do you think a change to 2 up front is in order to accomodate Diouf or does that negate the effectiveness of Bojan? Is Bojan a beautiful fly in the ointment?

I'd play him up front on his own but with more play that suits him. I could see a 4-4-2 diamond suiting us though if we wanted to change. Bego
New RB Ryan Muni Pieters
Whelan
N'Zonzi Dembele
Bojan
Diouf Hernandez

As has been said before, if you want two up front AND Bojan in the team, then you're left with little choice but to change to three at the back and play with wing backs in a 3-4-1-2 and I think the chances of Hughes doing that is pretty much zero.

Diouf Hernandez You've not really got any width there though have you? It would have to all go through the centre of the pitch and Hughes seems to love his wide attacking players both offensively and for the cover they can give to the fullbacks.

It'd be my plan B.

Yeah on reflection he probably would and then try and work out what to do with him later. He didn't really appear to know where he wanted to play Bojan in the beginning either I guess.

Don't like the risk/reward here, personally. Fee and wages would take some serious coin, and we would inevitably be bidding against clubs with more financial resources than are currently at our disposal. Seems a little pie in the sky to me.

link"Now it is a matter of what he does next. He’s got offers from the MLS, offers from the Premier League, he’s got a good press in England. “He quite clearly wants to stay in the Premier League, and he wants to play regularly which he hasn’t been able to.”
