Mike Pejic in Sentinel....
As our thoughts turn inevitably to the summer and new signings, I'll throw the name of Javier Hernandez at you. Some might scoff at the very possibility of signing a player on loan at Madrid from Man Utd. But he's not getting much game time out there, and we could certainly offer him more of that here in Stoke. And let's not be shy about the greater pulling power we have these days. Finishing 8th would only add to the attraction of a club that's already raised the right eyebrows by signing the likes of Bojan.
I don't know the figure United would put on his head, but maybe a season-loan could be arranged? I'd love to see a player I liken to Gary Lineker here. He loves getting behind defences and is a constant threat in and around the area. His willingness to work and ability to anticipate will always generate chances, just like Lineker in his pomp.
His movement off centre-backs and ability to get in behind certainly reminds me of the ex-England man. The pair of them thrived in that 6-12 yard area and I bet he'd get 15 league goals if used in the right way. I'm sure Hughes would play to his strengths and not commit the mistake we saw from Roberto Martinez with Lukaku the other night.

Excellent, excellent player.
But....can he play as the one up front?

'Playing to his strengths' would mean changing how we play surely? Another one who's never a lone striker in a million years.

No chance. He seems happy to sit in a big clubs reserves, as he's done for years now.

He really isn't very good whenever I have seen him play, cursed with a family of United fans and for someone with the pace he has he does fuck all running around... Often completely anonymous!
Who knows though, could all change at a club where he is #1

The 'little Pea'has certainly made a nuisance of himself a few times down at the Brit. Knows where the back of the net is.

I think he would be perfect for us.
Big P and Little Pea up top works for me!

If you can sign Hernandez, sign Moses, get Bojan fit, and get Odemwingie fit we would have some superb options

Tbh no he isn't a realistic target. Even if he did become available the likes of arsenal and liverpool would be in for him. Even teams like soton and everton would have more chance of getting him. We wouldn't be able to afford his wages of about 100,000 on top about 15m for the player

I think he would be perfect for us. Big P and Little Pea up top works for me! I think our team is better with one man up top on his own, 2 wingers/wide men a man in the hole/10 position and 2 deep midfielders, whoever Sparky buys must be able to operate on his own up top IMO

Plus side: he's an excellent poacher and finisher
Negatived: his all round game is rubbish, he's usually anonymous, we'd be expected to indulge his ridiculous nickname.
It's a no.

Free spirit, wherever he wants, but essentially just behind the two of them. With who in midfield? I'd play 4,3,1,2. Bardsley, Shawcross, Muniesa, Pieters Walters, Nzonzi, Moses Bojan Crouch, Hernandez Bardsley and Pieters are good enough to overlap, and Walters and Moses are willing enough to put a shift in.

It would but not with those players! And as a plan B I think a formation like that or a diamond is something that we can develop.

Excellent player, not a lone striker though. I would love him here. Still only 26? Feels like he's been around forever.
