I'm sure if he gets clearance to play over here we'll still sign him. He could just go there until Jan or the summer on a short term contract to keep him fit. Yeah - there's zero chance we're going to let him slink off to Molineux after pursuing him like a love-crazed teenager for 18 months. We must be in very close dialogue with his camp and are waiting to pull the trigger when he gets his passport. Just can't work out what this odd dalliance with Wolves is all about. All their public statements indicate they are looking at signing him on a permanent deal

Our Welsh friend Kenny is doing his Welsh friends a favour. He's just had a look to make sure.

There seems to be varous figures bandied around as the qualifying amount to get this Cypriot passport - I've seen 2.5m euros, 3m euros and 5m euros mentioned. Presumably it would be the buying club who fund it as Agudelo hasn't( at the moment) got those kind of funds knocking around? So the wheels can't be put in motion until he has a guaranteed contract offer from a buyer effectively willing to splash that figure on him? Suppose it's impossible to guess at what stage things are here and where Wolves do/don't fit in - and where we come in? Wonder if it's been done before? It does seem an obvious ploy by rich clubs to bend the rules. Express&StarCyprus has recently relaxed its rules for citizenship in an effort to promote foreign investment. Any applicant investing at least 2.5m euros in the country should be granted a passport within 60 days, and suggestions from the States are that he could receive the necessary paperwork within six weeks.Financial TimesPerhaps the closest comparison with Malta’s plan – which awards buyers an EU passport as soon as their application has been approved – can be found in Cyprus, which operates a direct citizenship-by-investment scheme.
Introduced this year, it allows those who invest at least €5m in properties or businesses in Cyprus or have €5m in bank deposits to apply for citizenship. It includes a provision that applicants must have a house in the country worth at least €500,000

Express&StarThe United States international, who is on trial for a second week, is pursuing a Cypriot passport to allow him to play in England and has told Wolves he wants to sign for them.
Head coach Kenny Jackett said: "The option he’s looking to at the moment is Wolves,. He’d like to make it at Wolves. We’d probably assess a short-term contract at first.
“He’s here, he likes it, he wants to stay and he’d be very interested in coming to Wolves.”
Agudelo wants to play in the Premier League and other clubs are interested, but Jackett acknowledges a short-team deal at Wolves could be the answer for both parties.
He said: "I’m sure the Premier League is his aspiration but a good way to get there is to come to a Championship club, and at 21 he has time on his side to progress to that.
“Would he have other options going forward into January? Yes. I’m sure his agent is talking to other people but the fact he’s here shows he’s open to signing for us.”

I still hold out hope that we can sign him. I've always thought Tony Scholes, as stupid as some think he is, can't be that stupid... he must still be in contact with Agudelo's agent.

Odd quotes from Jackett.
If he signs only a short-term deal with Wolves, who pays the millions of euros to facilitate the Cypriot passport? Not Wolves, you'd think?

You'd think we'd stump up the money for the passport on the back of some pre-contract agreement if he signs a short term one with Wolves. The thing is what sort of short term deal is he going to sign with Wolves if he comes to us in January surely that would only be a 2 month contract. Surely Wolves would want him on something like a contract to the end of the season at least. Edit also doesnt a player have to be inside so many months of their current contract in order to sign a precontract with somebody. So if he was contracted to Wolves until the end of the season legally we couldn't get to sign a pre contract with us yet anyway so we could end up bank rolling a passport for a player who could stab us in the back.

I can't imagine it's that simple there will be some kind of time scale I would of thought other wise people with a bit of cash non EU residents would see this as a quick fix to get into Europe.

Why would they do this at all? Doesn't seem realistic. Great, so Wolves may get a cracking player and then suddenly give him up as soon as we come calling because of some 'Gentlemen's agreement'? Hmmm, I don't think so

Hmmm, I don't think so Can Wolves afford the money he'd need for the investment or what ever it is, we let them have him for free for the rest of the season doing us a favour and in turn them if he turns out to be good enough, personally I can't see us willing to pay a couple of million more on top of what we've already spent on him tbh.

I hope Hughes is questioned on this in his press conference. It seems bizarre that he'll turn down the likes of Werder Bremen and Utrecht to be offered a trial at Wolves?. I'm going to hazard a guess that we have never given up chasing him, that we've been trying to purchase a property for him the whole time in order to get his passport and he's agreed to stay local in the meantime until we've sorted it.

Interesting to note that Juan had a contract on the table from TSV 1860 München that he turned down in September because they wouldn't give him a playing clause. Would Wolves give him one?

Well I don't think that we would entertain a playing clause for any player. Would he prefer to be with a Premiership club or play regularly at a lower level at this point in his career. We may not retain Victor Moses beyond this season (although he would be a great signing), so will be looking for at least one more attacking player
