A bit bizarre that one nothings changed since his last permit application was denied.

If this actually happens what was the point of denying him the permit in the first place???
This whole thing stinks and it will be just our luck if Wolves pull this off :/

Fair play to Agudelo if he gets himself a Euro passport.

Seems like if he buys a house in Cyprus he may get in to the EU via the back door and the European football world becomes his oyster.
It doesn't feel right, and it's not, but personally I never had a good feeling about this signing anyway so I am not too stressed about this.

Do we? His loan spell when was signed with us didn't exactly fill me with confidence about his ability.

Juan's work permit denial was, and continues to be, a mixed bag for me. If he could have come here, I don't think he would have seen much playing time. He's simply not as good as what we've already got. So, we surely would have tried loaning him out for a while, like Chelsea and Arsenal do with all their promising youngsters. I doubt he would have ever made it as a regular player for us though. For all purposes I think we dodged a bullet.
But... I don't like how we were the club to be used for setting a precedent. Also, the whole concept of homegrown players is so flawed! It's weirdly nationalist, and yet it doesn't matter where you're from as long as you were a youth player in England? Then, teams like man city have a bunch of homegrown players that rarely see the pitch? So very stupid IMO.
Oh well, If Juan does get another shot at a permit, good for him, and I hope Klinsmann picks him for some of the US friendlies. Fuck wolves though.

Irrespective of how good he is why do fucking Wolves know how to get round the system while we piss about playing by the book?

we still need him - based on what ? Is he any better than what we have? He didn't exactly hit the ground running during his loan spell in the eredivisie, so it was never likely that he was going to set the premiership on fire

So we've just given up on a player we pursued for well over a year and thought was a potential £10m man a few months ago that we can now seemingly pick up for NOTHING? Odd, to say the least. Express&Star - Wolves trial American striker“I don’t think the work permit is an issue. Everything looks OK,” said the boss.
“We haven’t applied for one because we haven’t decided to sign him yet but the enquiries we’ve made so far suggest everything will be fine if we want to take him.
“He’s 21 so if we do sign him we’ll be looking to make him a first-team striker. He’s been on trial this week so we’ll have a look at him in the game and then we’ll talk.”
“He’s over here full stop – he’s not waiting to go back to the States, he’s very keen to get into English football,” said Jackett.
“He’s very strong and a good finisher, and in training he looks quite mobile - he has a bit of everything.”

Could we sign him if we wanted to? He was a free agent when the transfer window shut, so surely we can - although he wouldn't be eligible for league games due to the 25 man squad.
Surely, if after working with him in training MH still wants him, then we could sign him and loan him out to Wolves.
The other scenario is - LMH wasn't impressed, and isn't fussed.

Surely, if after working with him in training MH still wants him, then we could sign him and loan him out to Wolves. The other scenario is - LMH wasn't impressed, and isn't fussed. Yeah, as you say, looks like anyone could sign him immediately assuming the permit is not an issue (and Jackett seems to have been given assurances that it isn't?) Maybe the Cypriot passport can be acquired as and when he gets the contract offer? Can't get my head around this one. Hughes and Scholes were both seething after both permit decisions, Hughes went over to watch him in Holland on a couple of occasions and he spent a couple of months training with us and got glowing praise from Hughes. It makes no sense for us to give up on him when it seems we could again scoop him up on on a free transfer immediately? It'd make sense if this Wolves trial was with a view to getting a loan there for the rest of the season from us - but Jackett seems to be giving the impression he's on trial there with a view to a permanent deal with them. “We were surprised and bitterly disappointed when our application for a work permit was rejected by the appeals panel – as were many other people in the game.
“It’s still our view that Juan is a great talent and is a player that Mark Hughes would like to join our squad. We have therefore decided that we are going to reapply for a work permit at the earliest opportunity.
"We are disappointed by the saga, but you must multiply that frustration by 10 for the player, who will now probably play for a decent team in Europe somewhere.
"The irony is that he will probably be a success there, and in a few years a Premier League club will be prepared to pay a few million pounds for him.
"English top flight clubs are always being criticised about high transfer fees. We are told the Germans are better, and the Spanish and the Italians.
"Well, Juan Agudelo can go and play in any of those three countries now because he'd get a work permit there.
"Clubs over here may have to wait until he's proven himself in Spain and then pay £10m for him."

Who can blame him for trying. Be interesting to see how he does if he goes Wolves. If he turns out to be brilliant, we've shot ourselves in the foot.

What is the point in having a trial at Wolves? He's been turned down twice by the FA and he's trying again at wolves?. I can't wait here Hughes' comments on this.

Very strange, It'll surely embarrass Scholes if he does sign for them. We must be fully aware of the apparently 'new' situation with the EU passport though. If he doesn't sign for us, it'll surely be our decision not to pursue him - which makes zero sense given the way we've pursued him over the last 18 months. Given the option of signing him for nowt, I just can't see how we would explain saying 'no' at this point?

I have a lot of time for Ether's. Whenever I saw him play for us, he gave nothing other than his best. Would love to see him finish off his career with a good club, and gain some success. Good luck to him in all he does! I also had the good fortune to have my photograph taken with him on my 60th birthday, and couldn't believe how slim he was. Ditto this.
