Buttler is gorgeous to watch in these conditions, great confidence boost too and should rub off on his keeping.

I love Matt Prior, but god we've missed this from a keeper batsman, won't always be that easy, but bloody hell what a knock.

Text book so far from England - bat 5 1/2 sessions then pick up a wicket in the final half an hours play.
The key to the game is tomorrow. If India bat all day losing just a few wickets a draw looks likely.

Yes a couple of early wickets will be vital ....Broad needs to bowl better in the morning , he was poor in that session , that knee seems to be taking it's toll somewhat....after this test it maybe wise for him to get it sorted out before some really permanent damage is done

Question 1) who is the third best seamer in English cricket?
Question 2) why isn't he playing in this test match
Seems to me we've made a big mistake picking both Jordan and Woakes. Both are, IMO, 4th choice seamers who can bat a bit. Add to that our main spinner is also part time, it would appear we've entered this test with just two bona fide front line bowlers.
Could be a long couple of days.
Edit - unless Broad produces one of his periodical blitz spells of bowling; just picked up his second and England's third wicket. India now 88-3! The main point remains though - I reckon we are at least one, but really two, bowlers light in this team.

I still think that Steve Finn needs to be in the team, he offers something a bit different to the other bowlers we have in my opinion, and most importantly he is a proven wicket taker.

I was just about to post the very same, I am a Finn advocate, if he is anywhere close to bowling well again he should be in the side , pace and bounce and he takes wickets , they appear to be a bit shy of picking him because he gives a few runs away ....well give me a 5 for 90 against a 2 for 45 any day

For example Ben Stokes, took 5 wickets over the course of the second test, which despite his struggle batting should have been enough to keep his place in the team. In my opinion if we are to operate with a 4 man pace attack, I would like to see the 4 being Stokes, Broad, Anderson and Finn, because wicket takers win matches, not contributions of 20 with the bat (Although that does obviously help the team) or being able to be economical.

I'm afraid it seems to be the fashion within the England set up these days , that all the bowlers need to be some kind of quasi all rounder to justify their place ( I was going to say with the exception of Anderson but he now seems to have decided he is a batsman too )

I think we'll see Tim Bresnan back in the squad before Finn now he's fit and playing again.
