Don't suppose you know what's happened to Sharma mate? Additionally I completely agree, I don't think he should be captain any more, but for every game that he is he'll get my full support during the game.

Cook's batting is a far more important issue than his captaincy for me , England desperately need him back scoring hundreds

I hope he cashes in on it today , the constant carping criticism of him is real beginning to get on my nerves , come on Cooky stick it out and get Ton ! Not all criticism is carping - what Cook has been getting seems fair and reasonable on the whole - both on this board and in the media. But what should also be said is how much cricket punters want him to succeed. How he does that is open for debate. But Cook has done himself few favours combining miserable batting performances with poor captaincy and allowing a culture of "preciousness" to develop in his team. You can point to that test against New Zealand last summer as the start of this surly, defensive England which is most unattractive. You reap as you sow. But once again - the first morning of a test, and what has gone before is in the past. The only thing that matters is now; so once again, it's all behind Cook and the other batsmen. You've got what looks like a great track, a modest bowling attack. Go and score some great runs! Entertain us. Make us proud!

Yes I agree .....I never wish injury on players of course , but if he's out for the next Test as well it will suit us fine

I will quite happily endure a dull and dour 450/ 500 if it wins us a Test ....at the moment being entertained is not the be all and end all , a positive result is all that counts ....and I'm always proud ... Come on England

Maybe it's all those years of Pulisball! Agreed, we just played very sensible, very solid cricket and it yielded fantastic results, our bowlers bowled full and to conditions and our batsmen were conscious at the crease, it's what we need to do now, do the basics well.

I don't think this pitch is as dead as it seems, very peculiar strategy from Dhoni....bowlers seem inconsistent, Jadeja just bowling at the stumps with no flight or turn.

Been so focused on Cook trying to get 100 that I've almost lost track of the fact we're 219-2

Shame for Cook - it was there for the taking.
But a word for his partner who has quietly gone on with his job. Hopefully we'll have something to cheer for Ballance shortly.
Let's be clear - what we need from our batsmen are centuries and big ones at that to reach a first innings score of 500++.
