I've got absolutely no problem with these sorts of comments at all. Jon Walters should want to play, it's what he trains for all week. Whether or not he can force his way into starting contention for next season is really down to him. They're not the comments of a man spitting his dummy out, just somebody being honest with himself and how he wants his career to progress. It's a shame as I'd be more than happy to have Jon Walters warming the bench for us, rather than the likes of Kenwyne Jones last season. If I'm totally honest, I cannot see Jon Walters getting many starts next season but I still reckon he'll fight it out for another year. Pretty much how I see it. But nor would I be surprised if SJW sticks his two fingers up to us "experts" yet again and plays a significant part. In his cameo for Ireland he certainly looked like a man with a point to prove and the tools to prove it. What I really don't get is the clamour for the likes of Diouf and Rivière while at the same time writing off players like SJW as if they're totally worthless. It leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.

Stop Press : Premier League footballer in shocking allegations of wanting to earn his extortionate wage.
To right, so why is N'Zonzi getting slaughtered and good old Jonny isn't?
So you're saying while you think Jon's position is understandable you think other people should be slaughtering him for it?

Not at all. People are entitled to their own opinion and some express it more vociferously.
For me I couldn't care less if he stays or goes.

Equally it pisses me off when people dismiss a player'a work rate as something to be sneered at. Heaven forbid we have players who actually give a shit about playing for Stoke City.

Don't forget to shut the door on your way out Jon. Also don't forget to make room in one of your "undeserved" shit hot motor cars for the rest of the deadwood. Ness,Edu,Shotton,Palacios,Jerome and Kightly.

He cares so much that after 2 months of not being in the team he says he wants out.

You can't really compare the N'Zonzi situation with Walters'.
This is the second (some reports say third) transfer request that N'Zonzi has handed in over the past 18 months. You could perhaps make a case for him being unhappy under TP due to the style of play not suiting him but he's done it again under Hughes, on the back of our most successful Prem season to date. There's nothing wrong in having ambition and if a top team comes in for him then great, let him go. Personally, I don't think handing transfer requests in are the right way to go about it.
Walters is just saying he wants to be playing regular football, which is the attitude you want from any footballer.

Sincere thanks for everything you have done, good luck with your new club, you will be remembered with affection. He will struggle to be a first team starting choice as we have moved on and sadly so must he. Admire his spirit. Yep. I do feel sorry for him playing out of position all season, but he is not exactly prolific as a lone striker. I'd love to keep him as a supersub cum squad player. I can't imagine any other Premier League Club would want him, not even Uncle Tone.

Wasn't the first time when he wasn't playing?
It could be argued both players are getting ideas above their station.

Maybe. I think Walters is good enough to be a useful squad player for us. If he isn't happy in that role, and we get an offer we think is acceptable, then let him move on. If N'Zonzi is waiting for Man City or Chelsea to come in for him, then I fear he'll be waiting a very long time.

Errrrrr......because Zonz is a mardy bollocks who seems to complain at the drop of a hat while SJW has been a model professional throughout his time with us. Oh and maybe because Zonz appears to be angling for a move to a bigger, better club on a bigger, better wage while SJW seems to simply want to play football.

Equally it pisses me off when people dismiss a player'a work rate as something to be sneered at. Heaven forbid we have players who actually give a shit about playing for Stoke City. We don't have any lazy players in our team though. So basically we have a load of hard working players who actually have skill, such as Odem, Arnie, Assaidi, apparently Diouf if he signs, and we have Jon Walters who is hard working but lacks skill. I'm amazed people still buy into the idea that Jon Walters work rate is completely unique and can't be matched. All of our team work hard.

If we end up 'perming' from Diouf, Arnautovic, Odemwingie, Assaidi, Crouch, and possibly Rivière, for the front 3, Jon will probably not make the bench some/most weeks, and neither should he. Shouldn't the players in form be the ones to make the team/bench? Given your amazing ability to predict the future can you tell me the numbers in next Saturday's lottery please. Haha. Like Walters who was last "in form" about 3 years ago?

Sugar coated bollocks. Both think they are good enough to play in better teams than their ability suggests, so both want out.

That and..... ......glowing praise from all the managers who have managed him in that time. ......glowing praise from team mates who've played with him in that time. .....glowing praise from pundits and other managers in the game who have dealings with him. .....glowing praise from any Stokie I know who has had any dealings with him. Maybe I'm just better at spotting the clues than you. Or perhaps you're just a bit thick - in which case apologies.

every team needs a bloke to come off the bench, run around, work hard and maybe contribute by either scoring or assisting in a goal to get back in the game, or keeping things tight when winning.
for that reason with the attitude hes got hes worth keeping
he can be very unspectaculary effective
