Everything about him is old school. When the hail came against Man Utd in the League Cup, he didn't realise what the fuss was and was the only one who wanted to stay on.
You can see what managers like about him, and you can imagine he's a big dressing room presence, especially with the old core group of Shawcross, Huth, Whelan, Begovic, Wilko, Crouch....
But can anyone see him making 10 league starts next season?
It'll be interesting to see what'd happen if TP offers £3m. He's 31 in September - but Tone would still move heaven and earth to get him.

I like SJW, and I'd keep him, and it's fine to be seething on the bench and wanting to play. However, I can't stand the 'we'll have to see about the future' kind of talk. He'd have to miss a season at least to get to any kind of realistic 'starts to quality and form' ratio for his time here. Shut up and hit pre-season running (up hill) Jon

He's almost certainly been asked about his future and given an honest and understandable answer.

I fucking hope so.! He knows he's not wanted and that's why he's gradually edging towards a move away to Palace or to one of the promoted teams. I desperately hope he goes ....anywhere ....I don't care.

He wants to play and get his place back. Surely there's nothing wrong with saying that, it'd be far worse if he said he was happy on the bench.
Then again, I remember some on here working themselves up into a real fury when Mama said 'there's more competition now' when we signed Ameobi.

I really don't want him leaving. A very important player. Please tell me you're kidding No, not at all. Incredibly versatile and very hard working. A wet dream for managers. As a squad player that is though.

Otherwise its CHamionship here we come Jon Im afraid Possibly one of the promoted clubs would consider him...?????

Great servant to the club... could still have a bit part to play and he has the attributes to come off the bench and have an impact... But there's no chance he should be a regular starter..... So if that's of no interest to him ( and I can't blame him for that) then it's thanks and goodbye....

What rankles with me is that no matter his limitations as a player, people can be so bloody mealy-mouthed. He's been a great servant to us through good and bad times and has suffered through TP's borderline obsession with playing him at all times. Let's not forget that Hughes persevered with him for a good while too. If he leaves then I wish him well. I'll be sad to see him go and if we are to progress Jon Walters may well need to move on too. Some folk on here are far too disrespectful.

I still think it's nothing you wouldn't expect someone in his position to say and is nothing like the Guidetti situation.

I can't understand why supporters should feel guilty for wanting to see the back of him. Surely the evidence was clear last season when the penny dropped for MH.

Great news. Fuck him off. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Chumslopper using proboards we signed him for next to fuck all and he has done well for us. to tell him to fuck off is an insult to him and every fair minded stoke fan. I personally believe he had become a little complacent his performances after he came back into the side were much improved.its good that we have good quality back up for each position. I am sure he can still do a job for scfc.

If its a toss up between Jerome and Walters coming off the bench I'd rather Jerome every time. He was extremely effective in that role for us before.

someone should show him the stats of assists/goals per minute vs. his colleagues in the position - Odemwingie/Assaidi/Arnautovic.
Having said that he could stake more of a claim in playing upfront. Hes more mobile than Crouch (just about), and he puts himself about, but hes not the finisher you want on the end of chances.
Prefer to keep Walters than Crouch due to his flexibility but he should not be starting next season
