I'm glad he's back. I know there's been some money nonsense but the player's only part of what goes on. You wonder about the Borini transfer. Turned down Sunderland for 14mil, going to Harry Redknapp for 10.5mil. That QPR stuff is weird. SO much going on behind the scenes with the agents and clubs. It's what worried me about Hughes when he came here and I'm so happy he's proved me wrong and done some really good business so far.

So around 5 mil spent in total (including the signing on fees) and we have no doubt strengthened the squad and first team whilst all around us are spunking money left right and center... Very happy with the window, lets push on blend the group over the international break and shove some of the cash down the idiots throats when we dick em! Shit hits the fan we have a nice warchest to play with in January! Suspect we have spent a damn sight more than £5m altogether. Moses loan fee must have been £1m minimum, easily double. Bojan and Diouf signing on fees could be huge too.

Will be interesting to see how quickly he's able to figure in the first team.
One start since January (the Fulham game) and invisible during Liverpool's pre-season (do we know if he has had any to speak of - he certainly has not featured in any game for any of their squads, even the U-21s?)
Oh well...Could be worse.

Hughes pretty much confirmed we had a good think about Lennon but signed Ossie on the basis we knew he would fit in and the legwork had been done.
I'd suggest he was being diplomatic in answering the rather direct question Will.
He could hardly have said that he'd have preferred to have signed Lennon.
True but for a man with a permanent poker face he seemed to give it away. All in for me based in that interview.

Loan deal done. Hughesie is still smiling about beating City. Sorry if already posted, but I've only just found out. I've also said before that this lad (barring injuries), could become one of the best wingers in the Prem, and I still think so.

Amazed at the level of negativity on this thread. He's not Aaron Lennon but he's a talented player who's known to us and gives us extra options, and who scored a couple of belting goals for us last season. Fuck whatever we've heard about his demands, that's football. Deserves a bit more respect from the Stokies!

I'm not really getting the downer some have on Assaidi. We don't really know the full details of what's gone on over the summer, but the long and short of it is that the manager is happy to have him here and he's a good option to have in the squad.

Maybe we were always going to sign Assaidi. The transfer window at times is like a poker game and Liverpool started bluffing ages ago with their valuation of a man who couldn't get into the Liverpool squad and of course the unfortunate "injury" on Saturday adds a ned dimension to the game

A safe signing I think! Not rock the city but better then nothing to be honest, slightly disappointed but I think maybe that's because me and a few others set our sights a little too high!

I am also a bit puzzled about all the negativity.
It has been obvious from the length of time that we spent trying to set up a deal that Mark Hughes really wanted him and that is good enough for me. The deal may not be what was expected at the start of the summer but in this day and age it looks a good one.
The injury to PO means we need a "winger" with an eye for goal which Assaidi has shown he has.
Mark Hughes now has the option of 4 different types of player for the wide positions (quick & direct, mercurial, nippy & tricky or duracell bunny). We have all the "horses for courses" options covered.

I can't be arsed with him now. If he really wanted to come to us, he would have done before the season started. Instead his ego kicked in and he demanded silly money. He has a long way to go to prove himself again

Not sure if this has been discussed but Odemwingie was a right winger and Assaidi a left. Is the plan to switch Moses to the right or can Assaidi play there. Sorry if this has been covered but can someone clarify for me. Cheers

Now mark Hughes has his man back for a lot less than the permanent price , let wait and see on the completed assessment of peter odemwingie and hope his injury is not as bad as first thought. If it's worth saying once it's worth saying three times hope to see Peter back in a Stoke shirt soon

Yes, the fact that we have got him for a year at a fraction of the cost of the permanent deal we were offered (both fee and wages) is good news. By the end of the season we'll know if he is worth signing permanently - or whether Yarmo (who will by then be on a free) still wants to join us. The Yarmo situation does seem remarkably similar to that of Diouf. Make a sensible (but not excessive) offer for a player and if his club won't play ball, sign him on a free a year later!
