I just don't get the gloom. We have plenty if options up front (too many according to some) and didn't expect us to sign anybody today. So the addition of Assiadi on loan is just a low risk, extra option, bonus. Is he really low risk? He had injury problems himself last season. This smacks of a last minute panic to me. One we don't need to make. I feel it only seems like last minute panic because if Odem hadn't have gotten injured we wouldn't have been in the market at all, instead the club are reacting to a gutting injury sustained during Saturdays brilliant win, and I don't see Assaidi as bad cover for the season at all, I think he is going to prove alot of doubters wrong just as he did last season.. The pace in our forward line on the counter once he signs will frighten alot of teams!

last minute panic buy for a player we've been trying sign for months? Signing for 1m for the whole season instead of for nearly 5m it would have cost. Yeh. Doesn't make sense! So why did we sign Moses instead? don't you mean as well as?

Assaidi can do-one as far as Im concerned. Priced himself out of a permanent move allegedly due to greed and now wants in through the door again. Is he worth being one of the highest paid in the club (allegedly). The answer is a sure-fire no. Personally, I would rather stick with Moses / Walters / Arnie than bring billy big bollocks in who is a featherweight and easily bullied by centre-backs There's a lot of allegedly in there. So until you know the facts don't judge people and talk bollocks. In black and white (with no allegedly's) Assaidi has long been Plan A for Hughes after impressing on the flanks in the second half of his season-long loan from Liverpool in 2013/14.
But failure to strike an agreement with Liverpool initially stalled a permanent move, then Assaidi's own wage demands added a second obstacle. Hughes and Stoke City's hierarchy have since grown increasingly impatient with Assaidi and his representatives.www.stokesentinel.co.uk/Stoke-City-Mark-Hughes-steps-chase-Norwich-s/story-22518523-detail/story.html

I'm quite pleased with this. Assaidi adds another string to our bow. OK, it not a rock the city signing, more of a shake the village...but its AOK.

I'm most interested to see the actual deal and wages. I hope we haven't succumbed to his demands in desperation. Having said that, I'd love to see him back on SCFC terms

How do you know what we are paying him why he's here and if we're paying all of it?

I rate Assaidi as a player, I just don't like the fact that he chose to hold out for silly money.

If Assaidi had signed up as soon as we went after him, people would probably have been saying he's a good signing. IMHO he is. O.k. he pissed some of us off holding out for what he wanted, but that doesn't mean he's any less a good player. If we sign him, I'll be quite happy to see him in a Stoke shirt.

Glad he's on his way. It won't be a big outlay and gives us a little lift after the terrible news about odemwingie. The thing with assaidi for me was the way he improved so quickly. He isnt the youngest but you get the feeling the more time he gets on the pitch he will become very useful at this level. His superb performance against everton last season showed what he can do, and you just know that he'll give us a couple of point-stealing 'worldies' coming off the bench

Expensive, unwanted liverpool cast-off about to sign for Stoke city, lets all rejoice on the payment to the player and his agent for a rip off very well done. I believe Stoke city should have left him to rot in the pool 3rd team

He wanted £45k+ a week if you believe what you read, and he'll be getting what he earns currently and not a penny more. And without a pre-season he'll have to fight his way past Arnautovic, Bojan, Moses, Walters etc. His agent might not admit it but I'm sure Assaidi wishes he'd just signes on the dotted line weeks ago

Are the exact details known regarding why Assaidi didn't sign in the summer or are the lemmings just assuming he's a greedy bastard.

Worried at how the crowd will react knowing that Assaidi wanted more money from us so we're opting for another loan.

Good situation to be in for us. I have a question mark regarding the games he missed with niggles and knocks last year. Maybe it was just teething troubles or an inevitability with the type of player he is. Therefore another loan to 'test' this is preferable to spending £7mil on him. He is very right footed, but I don't see this as too much of an issue. He wasn't used much on the right, but he was played as a 'chalk on the boots' right winger vs Tranmere {I know!} last year in the C Cup and was impressive. His improvement over the season overall was impressive. When he returned to the team at the end of last season he looked fantastic, he was awesome against West Brom {I know!}. I was disappointed that his loan {and the season} ended.
So welcome back from me.
If we can help him to maintain his fitness, which I'm sure we will with some rotation,{the medical team already know him} I look forward to plenty more magic Assaidi moments. In games where we can predict less need for loads of 'tracking back' or as an impact sub like we've witnessed he'll be great. He may or may not, with the encouragement of his agent, have shown his arse over negotiations, it's what happens to all Clubs. I pr theesume there'll be complicated recall clauses about injury and ACN in the loan contract. Perhaps he now has a bit more to prove.

Regardless of Odemwingie's injury I think it is fairly safe to say that had Assaidi been available on favourable terms, we were always going to take him regardless of how early or late in the window that was.
