Independent GuardianInteresting that Woy was going to play Waheem in the No.10 role in the last dress rehearsal against Honduras Now that would be interesting. Having someone with his skill set there would be really bold against Italy.

England adult top £92 and junior £48, so a friend has just told me, madness, never bought a replica top in my life and won't be starting now Sports direct in telford has the adult tops at £40, infant kits at £27. Even JD isnt charging £90, dunno where your mate is shopping. As for picking Sterling at no10, i can see woy doing something bold, but i also get a feeling it will be the wrong bold move and go tits up

He really should do this.
Sterling has played behind Suarez and Sturridge at Liverpool this season, as well as playing wide right in a front '3'.
Playing Rooney in the hole is absolutely ridiculous, I've been suggesting playing a '3' of Rooney, Sturridge and Sterling since before the Peru game and I haven't seen anything to change my mind in any of the friendlies to suggest otherwise.
It should be ...
Sterling---Rooney---Sturridge
or ...
------Sterling-----
Rooney--Sturridge
or a fluid (as it would be anyway) interchange between the two formations.

How long before all clubs start doing this i wonder

The £90 ones seem to be sold out online so either they've been popular or just not many have been produced. Hopefully the latter, don't want it catching on.

I own a lot of NBA and NHL tops, ive found over the last few years the quality of the replica's have been getting worse and worse quality to the point now its not worth the money to buy them. I hope to god that doesnt happen over here. Its expensive enough as it is getting kits for 3 kids, make it so you either pay double or may as well not bother and its game over

Italy likley to play 442 (Cassono upfront with Balotelli) so PaulSpencers proposed diamond or 433 formation(s) wouldn't run the risk of being exposed against a 5 man midfield.
suspect he will end up playing that way but not from K.O.

I don't even think Prandelli knows what his best formation is.
www.zonalmarking.net/2014/06/09/italy-world-cup-2014-preview/
And the fact of the matter is, we shouldn't be basing our formation on what he intends to do. Italy aren't actually that strong a side.
We should be taking the game to them from the off, to not start Sterling when Italy haven't even got a decent left back in the squad, would be to squander a golden opportunity to exploit an opposition's weakness.
There is just no need for Hodgson to go safe with Welbeck and (possibly) Milner in my opinion.

How long before all clubs start doing this i wonder yeah it's all bollocks mate...the £90 ones are "Match shirts" with fibre meshy crap to allow you to "Breathe" while you're playing. the cheaper ones are only "Stadium shirts" so they don't have all that fancy technology apparently so in other words, they're twice as much so you can have a "Teabag" style shirt like we did when we were 6 year olds on holiday in Spain back in the 80s!

totally agree Paul most of the media and fans are basing it all purely on the Italy of old and their reputation for "Italian defending" despite the fact they've been a weak side for a while now and simply don't deserve to be feared anymore. Sterling in the side going at them and being direct (as Sturridge and presumably Lallana will be too) will scare the bejaysus out of them. sod being cautious and patient and biding our time etc.....if we were going to do that then we may as well have brought players like Carrick to play with Gerrard, Lamps, Milner and the rest of the old guard. what's the point of looking to the future with young, dynamic players if we're just going to force those youngsters to play the dour, slow football we have done at tournaments for years now? it'd be like buying a player like Crouch, sticking him up front on his own and saying "I know this isn't really how you play football, so i've selected you on the basis of playing completely out of your comfort zone in a style that no-one else utilises for a reason but still expect you to be producing the same results that you have before now" and no-one would be stupid enough to do that kind of thing surely? they've been picked for what they've done at their domestic clubs this season so let them go out and do that for England as well, don't change all that's good and exciting in them!

Beat Italy and we're as good as through. If we base our formation on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses then we're likely to get picked off or stutter to a draw.
Let's get them beaten, try and get something out of the Uruguay game (which then isn't a massive game) and beat Costa Rica comfortably.
Let someone fear us for once.

Amazes me how much the shirts cost, and the amount they are sold and they are getting worse quality, now these 'acutal teabag' shirts are coming its just getting worse. Example i got the new stoke home top les than 2 weeks ago. The Bet 365 square on the front is already peeling off the shirt. Never happened on any shirt ive had before. Before that the shirts seemed to be getting cosier and cosier. bloody shit it is

Rooney on the left? Presumably that's with Sturridge playing in the centre. I just can't fathom that at all, they ought to be the other way around. I've no issue with Sterling in the middle, but I'm not keen on seeing Lallana shoed in on the right hand side.

I'm more bothered that the onus will be on Sterling to keep an eye on Pirlo, if not necessarily man-mark the bloke, which is not going to pan out at all. He wont be interested and no matter how much we want to impress or how much we think the Italians are 'past it', if you give Pirlo time on the ball he will take you to the cleaners without even trying. Just look at Italy's last match against the Brazilian club side when he came on - he's still got it. The man is a genius. Pay attention to him Woy!

Spot on, people on here go on about old players losing it. The only thing pirlo has lost is a bit of his stamina. Im not sure who'd id put on him to be honest, but id make sure it was someone who is willing to do the job. If not the guy will pick our defence to pieces again. For me, stop Pirlo, you stop the Italians
