Clearly ted has missed the point of the banners. Sure, he's the opposition manager, but many people feel that they didn't get an opportunity to say goodbye to Pulis. Saturday was that opportunity, it doesn't mean they wanted Palace to win, what a load of horse shit and I think that's merely an attempt to wind people up or more to the point, undermine people by saying they aren't Stoke fans. Bullshit mate. Fact is, it's the first time Stoke have played Pulis since he left. It was merely an opportunity to wrap up Stoke's connection with him once and for all and with some dignity. Holding up a banner at the start of the fucking match didn't lose us the game, did it? Reserve your blame for the players only, the same shit Pulis legacy beat Crystal Palace earlier this year despite going a goal behind.
Saturday's over and now we move on. We don't forget about Pulis, we remain grateful, but we look to the future. We're not going to have another 'first match since Pulis left', so that's done and dusted and I'm very sure that the next game, the banners won't be present, seeing as that's getting up your nose so much. Yes, the comparisons will CONTINUE, not necessarily by users of this board either. Guys like Chappers regularly make comments regarding Stoke letting Pulis go. For many on the outside, it was a barmy decision, shit football or not. From a completely abstract point of view, he took us into the Premiership, kept us up for 6 seasons, took us to a cup final and past the group stages in Europe. Without context, many would think we were fucking nuts to get rid, so yes, the comparisons will be made, probably until the end of the season.
Writing bullshit like you put Pulis on the level of Arsene Wenger is a load of crap as well. I have a soft spot for Tony, because I'm grateful for what he fucking did. Is that such a bad thing? Is it necessary to scorn polite gratitude in modern football? Give me a break. It doesn't mean I wanted Palace to win, or that I'm a shit fan or that I give a fuck if they stay up. I want Stoke City to win every week, but that doesn't mean I have to hate Tony Pulis, when he is the opposition manager.
Anyway, that's the end of it. The first time he comes the Brit, he'll get a round of applause and that'll be the end of it.

Secondly if you think those banners are the end of his love in from some of our fans I think you are much mistaken. I expect the 'Forever Grateful' Banner and the rest will be there every time we play him. Because next time it will be 'Tony's return to the Brit' et al. H

He isn't on the air to say everything you already know and agree with. Then there's nothing to say is there? "The sky is blue and the grass is green", no. He's put on the air to say things that winds people up and cause debate, usually angry debate. When Pulis is manager, it's : "Stoke are thugs", "Stoke play on the line of whats legal", "They're just a hoof ball team", "Modern day Wimbledon", "Do Stoke get positive discrimination from referees" blah blah blah blah, shit we heard week after week on 606. Of course, when he Pulis leaves, its : "Ridiculous decision to remove Pulis", "Why would they hire such a poor manager in Mark Hughes", "Compare Hughes and Pulis record, you'll see they've got this wrong", "Have Stoke just consigned themselves to relegation in hiring Hughes?" etc etc etc. It winds people up, you, me, and even fans of other teams, who hated Pulis or whatever. It forces debate and ultimately, that's his job.

Sadly Saturday was pretty much written in the stars from the moment Crystal Palace appointed Pulis as manager. I actually believe no matter how we had played the outcome would sadly be the same. As it happens we were woeful and against a pretty awful side as well. It isn’t just us, it happens time and time again when a manager comes back to haunt his previous club. As I said we helped make it easier by playing so poorly and just allowing his tactics to stifle us. That said I am not going to congratulate him or wish him well for the rest of the season because I am sorry and it will upset some I could care less about Tony Pulis and Crystal Palace, they are rivals in a dogfight to avoid relegation and therefore I want them gone. The problem with some people on here, they would actually prefer Tony Pulis to keep his never been relegated tag if it came to a straight fight with us or that’s how it seems at times. I could care less if he threw himself of Tower Bridge if they got relegated if it was between them and us. For me he is no longer manager of Stoke City and therefore I could not give a damn about him. I support this club I don’t support a manager. I wish him all the best in his private life but as far as football goes he means no more to me now than Wenger, just another manager of a club I could care less about. That does not denigrate what he achieved as Stoke manager and I will always be appreciative of those achievements but time moves on and so has Tony Pulis and we need to do the same. If on the last day of the season he had to win a game to send us down, do those who adore him think he would hesitate to do so, he may love this club but we are rivals now and he would do and not care a damn. I am fine with supporters giving him a round of applause on Saturday but making banners for the opposition’s manager is for me over the top but it’s a free country and people can show their appreciation however they wished. Though I remember some of the same people getting very bent out of shape when a few people went on a weekend to see a previous manager, who was managing a club in another country not the manager of a side we were competing against. That was tantamount to treason apparently but showing appreciation and support for the opposition manager is fine. I don’t object to either it’s a free world but I would not have personally shown support for the opposing manager irrespective of the circumstances. Is Mark Hughes the man for the job that remains to be seen but unless he gets the same backing in the transfer market as the previous incumbent we will never know? You can’t be asked to change direction and soften how we play and then be left out to dry financially. We need pace, we need better footballers and we need them now. There is a lot of talk about legacy over the weekend and what Pulis left behind, well in the most part he left behind an average squad who were devoid of goals, creativity and pace. I am not going to go into all the old divisions. That was there for all to see over the last 2 years he was in charge. I am grateful for what Tony Pulis did as manager second time around. There were far more good times than bad overall but he seemed to shoot himself in the foot every time he seemed to have found a formula that worked. The last 18 months with the odd exception were painful, that was his fault as he had total trust and control from above. The Saddest part for me it could have been so different. For me the legacy will be, he got us into the Premier League, a cup final and Europe and kept us there but it was in those last years at the expense of enjoyment. You left games so many times thinking why the hell do I keep going hoping for better. So his legacy he gave us many wonderful days but sadly left many with a feeling it could have been so much better. Mark Hughes hasn’t really addressed those issues yet, is that his fault or the boards for not backing him with sufficient funds, we won’t really know that until February the 1st. I don’t think we will go down, mainly because I think there are three worse sides than us and we have shown enough to give me optimism for the second half of the season but we need a natural scorer and the defence needs to be organized again, Huth can’t return fast enough. It’s time to put aside all the legacy and who should or should not be in charge, we have a manager he has a tough job to do but we are in mid table not bottom of the league. At the moment we are in a relegation fight but so are 9 other clubs. When we beat Chelsea were the harbingers of doom out in force, nope but that’s football, we win a few games and it will be fine and dandy again. This time last year we were on an awful run and anyone who voiced a concern was told shut up and in TP we trust, the same people tell us now we’re doomed and It’s time to get the road maps to Doncaster out. Of course we should be concerned as any of those other clubs supporters should be. I believe we will survive and thrive in time but Mr Coates has to back Mark Hughes with the same vigour he backed Tony Pulis or in real terms what was the point in changing anything. A change of style and direction will only truly work with players who are comfortable in their own skin. We have a side that despite some really good games are still not sure when they should be playing football and when they should not. I don’t think anyone is asking for 20 million to be spent but enough to get a couple of decent players who can score goals and change the game. I don’t expect people to agree with me and it’s my point of view. I just think Saturdays result opened up some wounds and unless we can just see it as another game and one where we played badly and ignore who was the manager in the opposition dug out, we will all be better off. Agree with every word of this. We should finally move on........... Until he comes to the Brit next season lol

The key bit for me Ted is this 'three worse team than us' statement again
I am not sure there is right now - in fact there isn't. We are 3rd from bottom in the form league, just in front of the two Welsh sides
Palace are actually 11th
Sunderland seem to have some fight back Villa seem to have Benteke getting his mojo back (he kept them up last year) Big Undy is on his way back and parting the waters at West Um and no doubt they will buy someone else Norwich keep winning that vital game Fulham maybe
Also Sparky's statement that his teams get better second half - well not so far - in fact we are getting worse with our defence falling apart
As for the anti Pulis players giving all the 'it is much better playing football under Hughes'. Well it is about time they showed it then, because they were the bloody worst for all of them on Saturday

I'm sorry but the ridiculous accusation continually made by the the likes of RAF and the OP that there are Stoke supporters who would be happy with Palace staying up at our expense are utterly moronic and it's getting pretty tiring. You bring it up in almost every thread about Pulis without a shred of evidence and it's rather pathetic. I haven't seen anything on here suggesting any member would want Stoke to fail if it meant Pulis and his team succeeded. Any chance you could link directly to some posts on here which prove some members think that way? If not, how about you just give it a fucking rest..

Good post but doubt it will make any difference TP was a truck driver MH is a racing car driver our side is a truck.
Whilst TP was finished for me due to being unable to reach the next level I do feel we needed an inbetween manager to take us forward with MH we are trying to miss out the middle ground so it's a big climb for our players instead of a gentle slope. I hope we can make the jump and I'll certainly back him as he tries to achieve it after all we have seen signs of much better play and entertainment which is what the vast majority asked for.
Having watched Man United fans burn their scarves in the Stoke end and get relegated I do know no one has a right to stay in the Prem no matter who the manager is. If players at our club fel they are being slowly squeezed out how hard do you think they will fight for us and make no mistake we need them all to fight.

'You and your ilk' Yet again, you fail to link to any post that remotely implies anyone wants us to fail and Pulis to succeed. You always bang on about how so many of the fans who liked Pulis now want him to do better than us, but you only seem to ever mention Tazi specifically. Any reason? If he makes so many posts proving this point of view, how about you link just one of them? I'm struggling to find any..

I want Stoke City to win every week, but that doesn't mean I have to hate Tony Pulis, when he is the opposition manager. Anyway, that's the end of it. The first time he comes the Brit, he'll get a round of applause and that'll be the end of it. Firstly the same twats like Chappers were the first ones to castigate Pulis for his poor football, woeful tactics and legal thuggery on the pitch when he was our manager. It's utter bollocks of course but it didn't stop them, especially when it was against their favourite teams. Secondly if you think those banners are the end of his love in from some of our fans I think you are much mistaken. I expect the 'Forever Grateful' Banner and the rest will be there every time we play him. Because next time it will be 'Tony's return to the Brit' et al. H I think the media will perpetuate the comparisons/contrasts in this match-up for quite some time, especially if we both stay up. I disliked the predictability of TP at times, but now find myself disliking the unpredictability of LMH, and I'm super nervous about the future. We all love Stoke and want success, its just a very awkward time for us.

The fucking irony. When Pulis was in charge you are your ilk were accusing those that did not like Pulis that they would rather Stoke got relegated than see Pulis succeed. What wasn't fucking moronic or pretty tiring about that because it happened for nearly ten bastard years. Just have a look at Tazi's posts for one if you want to see suggestions of wanting Pulis to succeed more than us, and there are other posters who can barely hide their joy. If you were at the game on Saturday you would have seen it first hand as well. So how about you give it a fucking rest. H No, because you're the only one talking shit. I never suggested that anyone on here wanted to see us fail to prove a point while Pulis was in charge and I thought those sentiments were equally moronic. 'You and your ilk' ::) Yet again, you fail to link to any post that remotely implies anyone wants us to fail and Pulis to succeed. You always bang on about how so many of the fans who liked Pulis now want him to do better than us, but you only seem to ever mention Tazi specifically. Any reason? If he makes so many posts proving this point of view, how about you link just one of them? I'm struggling to find any.. Well you can't be looking very hard. If you had been at the match you would have seen it and heard it first hand. If you choose not to believe me I couldn't give a fuck. I find it rather rich from a poster with your history accusing someone of talking shit though. H

And another post that avoids the question, most likely because there are no such statements from Tazi or any other members. I might believe you if you could just link a quote that proves your point. Unfortunately, you seem unable to do so.

Both sides of this tedious boring monologue of monotony need to get a fucking grip and a life. In many cases a fucking job.
How many times do we have to cover the same pigging subject....?
I'd rather talk about port vale or linda lusardi than a slow lingering death of boredom.

I'm not the only one on this message board who thinks the same. I take it you couldn't even be arsed to read Tazi's history then? H

The fact you avoid the point in hand (namely that you're talking utter bollocks) by saying you 'don't give a shit what I think' only further proves my point. If you really didn't give a shit then you'd just stop replying. The real reason is because there's no evidence to back up your hilarious claims. I've read plenty of Tazi's posts and while I don't agree with a lot of what he says, I've never seen him say anything to suggest he wants Stoke to fail and Palace to succeed. I think I'll just leave it there as it's really hard work getting anywhere with you.
