I can see coates pulling the contract offer out if he keeps dragging his feet,I think he's just waiting for wolfsburg to offer him that extra year he wants

BildThe poker for a contract extension in Wolfsburg is as tough as chewing gum. Olic (contract runs out) can extend at VfL or switch to Stoke City (England). He admits: "I was last week with my wife in England. We liked it. But I have not decided yet. " I've got a really good feeling about the summer transfer window. We're getting dicked around much earlier this year

Looks like he's staying at Wolfsburg after all that!"My tendency is to stay at VfL," said the striker and explained a little why he has opted for Wolfsburg. "I spoke last week with our trainer and our manager. Both want me to stay. That was beautiful and important to hear. I can imagine being able to finish my career in Wolfsburg,"

Oh well.
Onwards and upwards to the next target.
Still, despite his age, his goalscoring record suggests he could have been a valuable asset for a season or two.
Hopefully the management team have a number of strong links already in place for potential signings and we can hit the ground running this summer with a positive early signing as was the case last year.

At least he got his 2-year deal from Wolfsburg out of this convoluted chase - which is probably what he really wanted in the first place!
And it avoids us going in with a 33/34/35 year-old attacking triumvirate next season.

I can't see us starting with Crouchie either next season so perhaps that average age will be reduced to something we'll all feel happier with We need more than a couple of striking options to make us less one dimensional and Crouch could still have a role to play but my guess is that he'll either move or be phased out come January.

This guy is still fast, scores goals and makes Jon Walters look lazy. Let's see what Wolfsburg offer him...

I didn't really expect him to come anyway. As soon as he mentioned family it seemed unlikely. I suppose we may have been used as a bargaining chip.

Watched Bundesliga highlights last night featuring a 4-1 Wolfsburg win in which he scored and got an assist, looked pretty handy to say the least. Nevermind.

Looks like Hughes retains a bit of hope - but it looks remote.... Hughes at press conference today"He is a player that we like and one that we are pursuing. There have been one or two reports in the media saying this, that and the other, but for as long as we see the deal as one that we could complete then we will remain in the hunt for his signature"German press today"He wants to do it, we want it too. It boils down to that it is a two-year contract. But we still need to get everything down on paper," said Wolfsburg's sporting director Klaus Allofs to "kicker".
Recently there had been a U-turn in the poker between the Croat and the club from Lower Saxony. Olic in the meantime had flirted with a move to Stoke City in the English Premier League, but his whereabouts in Lower Saxony is now considered almost certain.

Is that a hint towards another target in the Bundesliga?
