TP did what they needed him to do last season. Got us the mega bucks for this year, also got us the mega parachute payments if it all goes tits up. Job done as far as Bet365 (probably not PC) is concerned - from here on in they start raking it back in!! Thinking it through though wuzza - it wouldn't benefit the club or the fans if we went down would it? How many years did it take to get back in the big time?

Some of the money that's been invested in the club by Coates family were described in the club accounts as LOANS, when I last looked loans at some point must be repaid, I guess now is good a time as any.

Wasn't last seasons net debt the cost of the academy?

That was BET 365 writing off the cumulative debt from their investment in previous seasons and not the debt accrued in one season. I didn't say it was but it's still a loss nevertheless, Pugs is attempting to treat this years TV revenue in isolation, when we've spent bucket loads on players and salaries since promotion. We will not be spending millions on building the academy and infrastructure of the club every season. The majority of the debt racked up by the club and written off by BET365 is caused by turning the club into a Premier League team from one that rented a stadium and trained on a field with a coupe of Portacabins. The playing side of the club does not make much of a loss. There is definitely a surplus of cash at the club this coming season.

Would never say they wanted us to go down kevan, merely that they could now 'live' with it.
They want their dosh back and for the club to stand on its own feet. Thats their perogative but its a hell of an ask when you see what we have to compete with.

Thats their perogative but its a hell of an ask when you see what we have to compete with. It is going to be virtually impossible for any club to stand on its own feet, until every club adheres to the same spending rules, and even then, it'll be difficult when the rich owners decide to sponsor the clubs socks for £100m a week. However, Bet365 will be making a damn sight more money with SCFC in the premiership than not - do you remember the attendance at the first game at the Brit?........Exactly

Bet365 already have as much out of Stoke being in the Premiership as they are ever going to get - contacts for TV sponsorship deals.
If we went down it wouldnt make one jot of difference to that.
That door is already open.

I would have liked a striker & crouch leaving, but all in all I think LMH has done well. We will see how things go over next few months, but happy at moment

We also paid off TP and employed a new backroom staff.
I wonder if we still pay large signing on fees as well to keep the wage bill down.
5/6/7 signings will also put a good couple of million on in agents fees.

I think it does point towards the 'self sustaining' comments we've heard coming out of he club for the past few seasons.
Personally speaking I think we require new money at the club if we are to progress or risk a return to the Championship. This league is unforgiving a best and in reality we have spent less than 1% of the total outlay in the division and I imagine we are in the bottom three of spenders in this window.

So what if some goes back to the Coates family after the have invested heavily to get where we are now in a risky business. They can hardly be accused of asset stripping or raping the club. We did shrewd business to get us promoted and stay in the PL. We made some big money signings that raised our profile and hopefully we've now done some shrewd bunsiness, bank the reast, stay healthy financially and pick up more cash if we stay up. Just because some clubs are spending a lot of money doesn't mean they'll turn out to be good signings. The more they waste the more we catch up.

Some people are never satisfied...we are beginning to sound like cretins from more established prem clubs...I despair sometimes....Peter Coates should be lorded for his stint this time around..not criticised

Our season tickets are still the price they were before we got promoted, the Coates family has poured bucket loads into the club both on and off the pitch, just because we've reigned that spending in a bit doesn't mean we should ignore all the investment made previously.

This board makes me feel ashamed at times. Just look at where we are now compared to five years ago. We have a chairman who is a true stoke supporter who has invested heavily in the club. He has also been physically threatened in the past (I was at the Birmingham game) . Now lets look forward with increased confidence and the expectation of more entertainment and excitement ! And yes I did support pulis and am still grateful for all he did!

Jesus wept. The running of the club. This isn't FIFA or fm.... It can't all be used for transfers. It helps pay for the acadamey, admin, wages etc etc
Its naivety to think it can all go on transfers.

We've been the third highest (behind only Man Citeh and Chelsea) net spenders in the Premiership over the last five years, yet we've only got a 28k capacity stadium. Wages used to be a big difference too. The likes of Sunderland and Newcastle were paying more than £10 mil a year more. Over 5 years that adds up to about £55 mil more for Sunderland, £85 mil more for Villa or £750 mil more for Citeh. I'm pretty chuffed with what we've got and the Coates family have done great by us so far. I'd love for us to have captured the next Michu or Benteke but this is probably the most excited I've been after a transfer window I've been in ages.

Didn't we post a rather large loss last season? We did indeed. And....we've increased our attacking options immenseley, imo, for £5m. Who gives a shit if it's £5m or £50m, as long as it's improved? I'd prefer the former, if I'm honest. And....there is a significant number of the squad who have shown, thus far, that they are more than capable of adapting to the new demands and have far more quality than many on here ever credited them with. How's that for legacy I'm really very pleased with the window and will happily, now, just turn up to watch some nogger.

TP did what he did and nothing to do with this seasons transfers all clubs do spending look today. He paid the big money wasted or not; he spent the money on staying in the premier league for 5 years which brought big money in. Leave the bloke alone and look at the big picture for what he did. Hughes is our Manager, so stick with him, I'm sure he must be happy with what he's got as PC would give more - PC no fool.
