Are we going to have this debate every week though?
Some rate him, some don't.
Get over it.

How come none of them got Bego then Smudge? Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool are clubs that tend to get what they want if they really want it. I'm not joining the great SJW debate here, just genuinely curious Spurs didn't get him because he was there for a medical and saw Stipe Pletikosa at the same place so legged it realising he wouldn't get first team football any time soon. The same reason was for Chelsea, he wouldn't be their first choice so he didn't go there. Liverpool went for the cheaper option. So I think what you are saying is Spurs and Chelsea wanted a reserve keeper and Liverpool didn't want him so much they were willing to pay the price. My sense is people don't rate Bego as much as we do at Stoke, we're right and they are wrong but long may that continue

Well to be fair sidi shouldn of quoted you although you did try and justify the question with an answer ! To be frank ,at best its hardly a yardstick to prove or disprove a players credentials, at worst its petty schoolyard stuff to try to prove point !

Liverpool dropped a massive bollock imo. Gutted for them!

dave/sid: I agree with some of your comments. Crouch/Walters has never really worked well here. Jones/Walters worked well but relied on two wingers in top form. I like Crouch and, in the right set up, he's a proven striker. The fact that he hasn't really 'worked' for Stoke is not his fault but, unless we're going to play two wingers and pair him with a nippy 'fox in the box' type striker, he'll never be the answer for us. I don't see us getting the best out of him. Walters always wore the tag of being Pulis' favorite and 'undroppable' and yet we have changed managers for one who talks of making us a more attacking team and have started both games with Walters in the team. With all of the speculation about strikers coming and going, the one thing I am sure of is the Jon Walters is the ONLY striker that isn't in Hughes thoughts to sell.
I have no doubt that, in the coming season, people will be saying "Why can't Hughes see what we can all see" just as they did with Pulis. I unashamedly 'rate' Walters for the job he does but I'd love to see him replaced with someone better. If that happens then I'm more than happy but Walters will still be valued in our squad, I'm sure.

There is a world of difference between Walters and Begovic and well you know it. I honestly doubt we could give Walters away to another Premier League club, let alone sell him. Most other top flight clubs don't even have their own versions of him and that's a fact. We had all this before with Sidibe didn't we.

I happen to agree with you regarding walters but thats not my point , what I thinks wrong is the feeble arguement that because (at this stage ) hes not been linked to other clubs that this somehow proves your point !

The problem with Walters is that his better qualities are the ones when he doesnt have the ball, and for a Premier League striker that isnt good enough. At best he should and would make a decent squad player.

So we all agree then that Walters isn't good enough. You could have saved us all the time if you had stated this earlier

Thought he was magnificent today! Lead from the front worked hard and really was outstanding. How people can slate him I don't know! Well played jonny my MOTM! Oh dear (magnificent + MOTM). Your positive attitude to such a poor player is admirable.

Well I thought he was shite again. I have no other option but to believe he has a clause in his contract, which states 'if fit he must play.'
