Amazes me how people are so against him. Got leicester up, and kept them there, left and turned things around at Celtic (where Rangers were by far the better team. Left to look after his wife. Did an amazing job at Villa according to the Villa fans i know (and being in Telford, there are shit loads of em). At all the clubs he's been at he's used youth and experience together. Sunderland it went totally tits up, but i think the manager is the least of the problems sunderland have.
He's not the manager id dream of, but having said that, out of all the candidates id say he fits Stoke better than most others

Never been relegated ? the way Mon manages he is exactly the sort of gaffer who takes a team down then gets his arse back on the tv sofa confusing people with his analysis.

The facts about MON: Great C.V. Decent guy. Good with the press. Not old in football management terms. Safe pair of hands. Vastly experienced. Never been relegated. Hugely respected in the game. Both him and Hughes are good managers, but for some reason not popular with Stoke fans. I agree Mon and Robertson, I would take tomorrow.

I'd genuinely rather have Pulis back. Even having MON as manager will move us forward light years. Well, he didn't do much for Villa or Sunderland. Tony Pulis, and I find it hard to believe what I am saying myself, looked a better bet than some names being bandied about, MON and Hughes being two of them.

I just don't understand why him, if it's true. He really isn't that much different to TP. Does he even do much with the youth squad?

not talking shite about your club, you have discreded yourself and you wont vanish because like your 2600+ post show you are realy a Stoke supporter but you tell every one in Bentilee your a sunderland fan because you want to be different.. another thing I learn something new every day, if I don,t its been a bad day, but ones thing is for sure there is nothing you could teach me MON will also going back to you so called club to bring a few players to Stoke Listen very carefully mate..Captain Fishpaste IS a Sunderland supporter and regularly writes articles on the club. You're making yourself look very very foolish.

To anybody bitching about Hughes and seemingly willing to accept Martin O' frigging Neill, you're mental.
Pre 2007 he'd have been a decent choice but he's nearly 60 and an in no way, shape or form is he ANY different than Pulis. Sunderland should be his last high profile PL job unless a newly promoted team wamted him. He represents the absolute opposite of a change in direction and is about as far away as "yoing and vibrant" as you can get.
Hughes IN if this is his competetion.

I don't seeing being O'neil even if he is the favourite - favourites change all the time, until all bookies suspend the market and we have a club announcement there is no clear certainty who the manager will be.

Haha .... your all such mard arses! MON is a massive step up from Tony, your only crying because he failed at Sunderlona. This time last year everyone was creaming in the pants at the thought of MON replacing Tone. MON is not going to be a hoof merchant, he is solid, Sunderland dont have the passion in the players as Villa / Stoke have, and he did awesome at Villa if u ask me.
So calm down, ask mommy for a new dummy it will be ok.

He wouldn't be my choice, but I'm not surprised at this, I've believed from the minute TP left that O'Neill would be our new manager. Glad I backed him at 16/1.

A lot would be down to his coaches for me , still a good manager but it sure went wrong at Sunderland for him but I think he would relate better to the fans than the others on the list

Not sure his age has got anything to do with it, look at Ferguson, Bobby Robson (RIP), Wenger - in fact his experience can surely only be a plus, contacts in the game etc And on the subject of odds shortening, betting being suspended, what a great way of sucking punters in. If I was a bookie I would shorten odds drastically on markets such as these just to get punters talking on message boards such as these, and blindly throwing their money at something that looks like a good thing. It won't be MON

I'd genuinely rather have Pulis back. Even having MON as manager will move us forward light years. Care to explain how, exactly?? This bloke's ship sailed ages ago. Made his name at Wycombe then won a cup with Leicester (which btw is no great achievement nowadays). Since then his two bid appointments have seen supporters glad to see the back of him. He's just a different type of dinosaur. Shit at Sunderland. His CV is actually worse in some respects than Hughes'. I cannot believe that we have dumped TP and this is the way forward. No chance would anyone at the club be this dumb.

I agree, if this is the extent of the change there was no point doing anything at all This is all happened very quickly though so there must be something to it I'd genuinely rather have Pulis back. Remember, careful what you wish for.

I posted something along these lines yesterday. I don't think we will get a foreign manager and we will stick British. I don't know why and hopefully I am wrong but forget your Poyets, Martinez etc etc
Hughes, O'neil, McClaren those types I reckon. I hope I don't know my arse from my elbow and I am wrong.

4-4-1-1, big men up top, crew cuts, tracksuits, stopping them playing.
4-2-3-1, inside out wingers, high pressing, diving, false nines, hair bands, overlapping full backs, Armani suits and latino accents.

Well Oddschecker still has Hughes as favourite everywhere.
O'Neil plays Hoofball and fills his team with animals. He is a cheque book manager who doesn't play kids, how does that help the Academy of which I have a Son at the early stages of.
I have already renewed and would have kept even if Pulis has stayed.
I ain't going if he comes.
