If we needed a manager he would be a contender, I still think we're a very attractive proposal right now.
Not a cut throat chairman, money to spend, fans that will be relatively easy to pleased entertainment wise.

Just seen this story myself. Quite intriguing but PC will have to get his finger out and get the deal done ASAP because I'm sure there will be plenty of takers for the Spanish waiter!
RAFA IN!!!

If pulis was to go I would take Rafa. As I have said I am not opposed to TP leaving as long as we get better. Some names mentioned are frightening.

Of the clubs in the prem with a potential vacancy he could get, apart from Everton, we must be the highest ranked for his project.

I was thinking this at first, in size of support they are a huge club and they still have not won a cup.

You would have to say that he won't be getting any of the top 5 jobs (although I suppose Man City is a possibility if Mancini is on the way out as has been suggested and the bookies have it wrong about Pellegrini).
I would have thought his Liverpool history would count against him getting the Everton job, and he doesn't really seem the type that they would go for anyway.
Not sure what the state of play is with Allardyce at West Ham but if he goes (pretty unlikely) then with the sort of cash that the dildo twins chuck around, and their love of "big names" then you would have to think that they would tick a fair few of Rafa's boxes.
With the right sort of backing Stoke could be about as good an option as Rafa could hope for.

Sunderland only appointed Di Cannii until end of season so may decide against extending? But I think we are in the frame. I believe we have sounded him out and are one of the options he is considering. The big appeal is that we are just down the road from his family home on the Wirral and if he can live at home and take on a project that would take a few years that would be ideal. BM

Dont think hed end up at Newcastle. I think by staying up Pardew has bought himself some breathing space plus it would cost them serious money to get rid of him.

I thought DiCanio was on a 2 year contract? I'm sure that's what was reported in the media? Edit: Here you go - 2.5 year contract. Telegraph

It does seem that things are going on with all the emphasis going on a future of younger players and development. Its as though the club are putting in an infastructure of facilities and backroom personel in preparation for something.

I can't believe people are suggesting Rafa. If he comes here I'll be amazed. People might laugh at him here and call him fat etc, but in Europe he is highly respected. I could see him landing a top job in Europe no problem. If he does come to Stoke I would be chuffed to bits, but I just can't see it happening.

First of all, I think the chances of TP not being in charge next season are slim. Very slim. Wafer thin, in fact. So wafer thin as to be negligible. Even if we'd gone down, which I was convinced we would a couple of weeks ago, I still think he would have been retained.
But I really envy people whose view of the world accommodates the possibility of Rafa coming to SCFC. Their world must look a rosier place than mine. Is it possible? Yes it is. But then it is also possible Clive Tyldesley could deliver a commentary that is listenable to. And, after all, Carlton Palmer was in fact capped for England...
I would love to hear the conversation between Rafa and Senora Benitez as he breaks the news that he is to take on an interesting project.
"Espana, caro?" "No". "Italia? Allemania - Francia?" "No carina". "Everton?" "Er...no mia pequena". "Donde, amado?" "Stoke".
Rafa exits stage left, engulfed by tumbleweed.
Mind you, I was hopelessly wrong about the relegation.

Shame we'll have same old, same old next season though.
And that's not to say I don't value continuity, I do - Fergie being the obvious eg but I don't value the wasted opportunity we've now had with TP in charge of the transfers.
We should be so, so much further ahead in our 'project'.
And to think it needs ano shed load of cash throwing at it next season, I can just see more dodgy signings and trouble at mill with Cartwright in the mix if Jan is anything to go by.

A real opportunity for Stoke to get themselves a top-class manager who could actually take us to be that regular top 10 side we aspire to be, and that I think is where Pulis will always fail. Not massively renowned for attractive football, so a transition to more entertaining afternoons ie better than what we have currently play, would be relatively easy too. Happy in England and loves Liverpool, he could live pretty local. Looking for a suitable project, (which includes plans for academy and stadium redevelopment) whilst our current managers project is floundering. Sound financial backing, doubt he wastes funds in the same manner. Would have excellent European connections to pick players off the continent...etc...etc..There are lots of good reasons why he would consider us! And vice versa. If I was stoke I would do everything possible to ensure he was our new boss.

Stoke Villa Everton Fulham Newcastle
Out of them i can only see it being us or villa, Rafa is very settled in liverpool, and his love for the reds means he will not be going everton. Newcaslte and Fulham are way to far away from his family, and i think Villa will be sticking with their manager.
Come to Stoke please Rafa, and kick Pulis and his dire football to the kirb.

I would imagine he would be a contender for: Stoke Villa Everton Fulham Newcastle Lob us & Villa off that & that looks right.
Jol has been a waste of space and Ashley is bonkers enough.
Actually, maybe Everton too: Rafa might be daft enough to take Everton but not sure Kenwright would be so daft as to take him?
Edit: sorry, take him as in opening a whole can of worms and Liverpudlian footie hatred. Is it worth it?
