Am i completely wrong in my opinion of him, i think he is the luckiest bloke to make a living out of this game, he cannot get a free kick over the first defender and gives us nothing, he is again in my opinion probably in the top 5 worst players i have ever seen at stoke, and i can go back 50 years and seen some stunners, my favourite worst players are alex elder, clive clarke and the current encumbent whelan

You go back fifty years and think Glenn Whelan is one of the worst five players you've seen?
Good grief.

I've seen 5 worse today.

He really is stopping us from progressing. The slowest midfielder in the premier league by a country mile. Said it for years and won't change my mind on him. Great effort glen but slow, back passing, no progression.

Spot on my backside. If he's been watching Stoke for fifty years he's seen some horrific results and appalling players. To claim that a player in this team is one of the worst players he's seen because he had a poor game up against players of the quality of Lampard, Ramirez, Hazard and Mata is laughable. Some people need to get a grip.

Great effort glen but slow, back passing, no progression. This. His form has picked up since the arrival of N'Zonzi but today was poor. Slow physically and mentally. Always looks to pass back. Unfortunately it's taken the manager 10 years to get a decent centre midfielder in. It's gonna be a long wait for another.

Not a game goes by when he doesn't gift the opposition at least one chance with a misplaced pass. Today was a back pass (yes another one) early in the game straight to their player running in on goal.

Gerry McMahon, Kyle Lighbourne, Carl Asaba, Vincent Pericard, Dave Brammer, Gordon Marshall, Paul Stewart, Keith Scott, Salif Diao, John Clark. I could go on. You never see any of these play for Stoke? I agree that i dont think Whelen is good enough for us at Prem standard. But i wouldnt say he is in the top 5 worst players.

I can honestly think you have hardly been to watch us over 50 years if you think that. Either that, or you have not learnt anything about the game in all that time. Whelan was not good today admittedly. But he has been one of our best players this season and has made N'Zonzi as good as N'Zonzi has made him look.

He is in a long line of Stoke midfielders who although do a good job breaking things up and stop other teams from playing but never actually create anything or score any goals. Would be interesting to see how many goals Whelan has actually scored in the what seems like endless time he has been with us!!

Never been a Whelan fan but he's been very good for most of this season. Today wasn't one of those times but he has money in the bank with some very good performances. Hopefully he will be back to normal next week (assuming this season is normal now and not just a good run of form)

He's been one of the big positives this season?!
I'll admit it, I was one of those who absolutely slaughtered him after nearly every game last season, and the season before that, and the season before that... But this season, the lad's been a class act. He's like a new player!
Today, he had one of his poorer games. I thought he played well in the first half though, before he disappeared out of nowhere in the second.
Keep up the great job Glenn! Our Irish terrier!

Top 3 Tony Pulis central midfielders have got to be....
1) Steven N'Zonzi 2) John Eustace 3) Glenn Whelan
Fair?
If so, doesn't that speak volumes?
