A bit of research shows he's come across an ex-Stokie. Ade Akinbiyi played alongside him for 14 games in 2009.

yes but he was on the payroll, and you asked "will he be our first ever player from the US?" next? Do you think, given the current state of the European Financial Market, that the problems could be solved if Germany removed themselves from the Euro Currency thereby relieving pressure on other countries or should the Germans stay in place?

Still no white smoke emerging from MLS HQ by the looks of it... God knows what's taking this time. It seems a simple enough decision to make. twitter.com/OrtizKicksDear MLS, free @geoffcameron. He's worth more to @houstondynamo sold to Stoke City than in H-town. I'll explain why in Saturday's Chronicle.
If MLS doesn't approve @geoffcameron transfer to Stoke City it further shows @stuholden was right to leave on free transfer to Bolton.
If you're a young star like @geoffcameron and @stuholden, why re-sign with MLS if you know they'll hold you hostage. #single-entityDrama
If @geoffcameron saga goes until Sunday or MLS blocks transfer, it'd be funny if fans chanted "Free Geoff Cameron" in 20th minute.

Haven't we been negotiating with the MLS for a few weeks now? or do we negotiate with the club first and the MLS then make the decision ??? If it's the former then they would have surely put a stop to long before now if they were going to reject the move anyway.

www.glenndavissoccer.com/soccer-news/another-day-passes-with-cameron-situation-un-resolved/One can only now start to begin to believe that the Geoff Cameron to Stoke City in England deal may just be dying a slow death. Another business day in England has passed and still no resolution to the situation which hand-cuffs all parties involved. Personally, I am surprised that Stoke City has remained in this potential deal this long and has not told MLS that their offer is off the table.

It's hard to see what's in it for MLS to say no.
The player wants the move. His club wants the move. And even the local Houston fans and media seem to be in favour of it. £1.7m seems in line with what similar players went for and nobody is on the horizon offering more.
If they say no, they'll be left with a very bitter player who'll resent the chance he's missed to make life-changing money

This is Stoke City we are talking about so don't worry.
All of our transfers take months to complete. Even the straight forward ones can take several weeks and suffer from unforseen complications of some sort.
Why should this one be any different?

That Glenn Davis bloke is suggesting Cameron has got "Scottish ancestry".
Presumably he'd have to have a Scottish parent to get a UK/EU passport and negate the need for a permit?

Don't forget that classic quote from sir Pete. He said that one thing to consider with the transfer window in the summer is that if you buy a player early you have to pay his wages during the months / weeks before the season starts.
Obviously not word for word that but I remember an interview from 2/3 years ago.

Doing the rounds on twitter that it's a done deal, will be completed early next week www.yanks-abroad.com/content.php?mode=show&id=9226Yanks Abroad has learned that MLS has agreed to sell Houston Dynamo central defender Geoff Cameron to Stoke City of the English Premier League.
There is still some final negotiations for the exact transfer price but the the two sides are very close and a deal is expected to be reached on Monday or Tuesday.
"MLS has agreed to sell Geoff Cameron to Stoke City," a source told YA on Friday afternoon. "The price is very nearly agreed to but it won't be a hurdle. We expect a deal with Stoke on Monday or Tuesday."
Last week it was also reported that a work permit was going to be difficult for Cameron but there is more optimism on that than before.
"A work permit shouldn't be an issue," the source added. Or maybe not according to the Houston president... twitter.com/OrtizKicksMLS hasn't agreed to sell Cameron yet. "It’s definitely not true that MLS has agreed to sell Geoff to Stoke City," Canetti said. "League officials will continue to talk to Stoke at least through the weekend to see if a deal could be reached."
This much I know is true. Cameron told MLS quite clearly he wants to go to Stoke. Dynamo back move. MLS sent counter to Stoke today.
Stoke must mull latest MLS counter. No sure sign they'll accept. Am hearing Stoke hasn't nudged far above $2 million
Looks like they're trying to squeeze more cash out of Stoke...

To be fair, around $2m does seem a bit on the low side if that's nearer the mark for what we've actually put on the table. Earlier reports seemed to talk of nearly $3m. About £1.2m seems a bit on the crafty side? Quite why we're penny-pinching to this degree when we're happily giving the likes of Tonge new contracts is anyone's guess. The guy who wrote the 'it's finally all agreed' story says he's standing by his story...
