I get it totally. I just think its a totally bankrupt way of looking at a new signing and pretty irrelevant to the overall picture. Its a nothing signing based on the overall football community? What? Still, keep banging your head against the wall... I'm not even talking about my perception, but the general perception, and you're attributing it to me? Clearly you understand my point. I know its not your personal opinion foster. I just think the notion that he's a nothing signing in the eyes of the overall community is more than a bit dim. It means nothing.

I still don't see how 'general perception' in this instance matters. If we were signing a Vale reserve and trumpeting him as the future of the club, or reduced to signing well-known journeymen like whoever the modern-day equivalent of Danny Dichio is, I could understand it a bit more. But this guy is an unknown quantity and it's still pretty early in the window, so I don't really see what there is to judge unfavourably. It's the kind of calculated gamble that most top flight teams indulge in. Am I judging him unfavourably?... Where have I criticised him Rob? You and Seddon seem to want to argue for the sake of arguing, attributing how the general consensus of fans is, to me. I agree that we don't know anything about him and shouldn't judge, so stop making out that I've said otherwise. I'm not saying you are, but by the same token I don't know what your point is?

Rob, I'm not going to start debating with you because you'll just question me to death. I've seen enough of your debates to know that getting into a drawn out debate with you is likely to cost me my weekend. I was saying how it generally is from a fans perspective. Something which I realise is quite meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

Ahh, the old "You can't argue with me because I'm not saying it, I'm just saying what other people might say" defense. Always a good one to have in the armory that.

Here's a fans perspective...quite the opposite to uninspiring for me. Ita almost a Eureka moment as the manager appears he is prepared to take few gambles in the market. something he has been loathed to do instead paying overinflatd fees for players merely because they have prem experience. e.g Dean Whitehead 5m Danny Collins 3m to name but two.

Why would you want to hide behind what other people think? If I thought signing Cameron was a shit move by Pulis I would say so. As it stands, my only concern is that he lacks experience at the top level.

Signs that Tone is getting back to what he does best and pulling top signings from relative obscurity.
Fuller, Shawcross, Delap etc.
Good to see he seems to be going back to basics.
Probably because he has been politely told to!!

Don't you just hate it when you post something on here that isn't based on your own view/opinion and then you end up having to justify and defend yourself for an hour afterwards. ;D

March has got 2 boo boys lined up already I see, and they haven't even signed. Every new signing is one less place in the squad for Mama to fill. No wonder he's so negative.

Probably because he has been politely told to!! Christ on a bike! This claim really is pushing the envelope! Relative obscurity? Delap previously played for those "relatively obscure" minnows Southampton Sunderland and derby. Fuller, hearts, Preston, portsmouth and Southampton. Even shaw cross was at man u reserves! I'd be tempted to say you really couldn't make it up, but clearly you can.

nesoccertoday.com/?p=13659In the meantime, Cameron is hoping to get an answer by Friday morning. And it can’t come soon enough.
Although he has the backing of his coaches and the Dynamo front office, he knows nothing is set in stone until Major League Soccer decides on whether to accept the $2.8 million dollar offer for Cameron.
“It’s tough to know that the decision is not in my hands,” Cameron said. “It’s a lot of stress and anxiety and nerves. So I’m trying to stay as busy as possible to keep my mind off of it.”
And if he doesn’t get an answer by Friday? Well, Cameron mentioned there’s always something else he can do to distract him from the situation.
“You have to love naps,” Cameron quipped. “When you’re sleeping, you’re not thinking about it.”

thesoccerobserver.com/2012/07/13/cameron-sees-similarities-between-dynamo-and-stoke/“They’re a hard-nosed team similar to Houston Dynamo,” Cameron told The Soccer Observer Thursday during a telephone interview. “They’re a pretty tough team to beat at home. They like to get the ball wide and whip it into the box for guys like Peter Crouch to get his head onto.
“They’re a hard-working team and that’s one thing I’m used to with the Dynamo.”
Stoke’s strength in central defense with the pairing of Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth could see manager Tony Pulis opt to use Cameron’s passing skills higher up the field. Playing in different roles won’t faze the two-time MLS All-Star.
“I’ve been doing that with the Dynamo for a while,” Cameron said. “With the national team all I want to do is play center-back. That’s where I think the best opportunity is for me to make the World Cup team.
“I haven’t talked to (Stoke) about that. I just want to be on the field.”

It's an interesting one. Hard to know where the he'll fit into things.
Would we go to all this effort to bring in a 4th choice CB, 5th choice CM and cover for RB?
We must have a plan for him.
Either we're banking on Upson leaving, or Pulis views him as much more of a RB or CM bet than seems obvious at this point from the outside?
Frrom his point of view, at 27, he'll probably accept the chance to have a life-changing 400% or 500% pay rise and ask questions later.
