I like kightly. However he lacks pace, been injured a lot and the wolves fans most definitely think Jarvis is a superior player. Not sure he would improve us. Time will tell.

One thing for sure we cant keep persisting with the Rorys and Shottons on the wing in the premier league. One thing i will say about Kightly, he burst onto the scene for wolves a while ago, i think his injury has set him back a bit. Hopefully hes fully 'stoke fit' if and when he signs for us.

Let's hope he is a good buy, many people apart from me knock Pulis for not signing overseas and unknowns, I'd be impressed if he was a real find. It's a bit harsh to criticise Pulis before the lad has even played a game, he might be shit hot. I have a feeling Cameron will be be a good player in the Prem. Let's hope the deal goes through. As for Ness, he is injured already - enough said. If Cameron was signing for anyone else, this mb would be rammed with people saying that if he was any good he'd not still be playing in the MLS at his age and would already have been picked up......... Forgive me if I remain completely uninspired by this one. Given the injury record of your favourite forward, I reckon the Ness comment is a bit rich!

I don't think kightly would push either of our wingers for a game, I honestly think he's no better than Lawrence, Jarvis on the other hand would walk into our first team.

Cameron is a nothing signing at this point and probably more likely to be a failure than a success.

If Cameron was signing for someone else, this board would actually be full of people slating the manager for not taking a risk on an unproven player from a foreign league, whilst stubbornly holding out for ageing, overpriced, tried and trusted British players. This would be the time where Collins at 3-5M and Whitehead at 5M would be wheeled out and used as a stick to beat the manager with. for the record, Cameron would cost 2M tops. I wouldn't be so confident in that statement had I not read it before, during and after every bloody Transfer Window since we got promoted. Shock horror, we now are taking a risk and in some quarters - it's at best an uninspiring move and at worst, totally wrong. The bloke can't win at times.

He was simply saying (as is true) that whenever we're linked with someone unknown we generally go on about how fantastic it could be, building him up without ever seeing him play. Whilst if another club is linked with an unknown player we generally find something negative to say about their potential signing.

Most posters on this board had never even heard of Cameron before he was rumoured as a possible signing so anyone claiming it's an inspired move is definately operating from an agenda. I doubt that anyone would be moaning should West Ham (for example) be signing the man. In fact most of the posters holding Cameron up as a great signing would be pissing themselves laughing. I read post after post from people claiming that even Ligue 1 in France is a weak league and just because a player looks good there doesn't mean they are ready for the Prem (see Newcatle United for proof that this is utter rubbish). Yet as soon as we are linked to a player from the MLS (which is probably comparable with League 1 football here) we are supposed to get excited. If Cameron were signing for another Prem Club March would be using his tried and tested "not good enough for Longton Park" analogy.

If Cameron were signing for another Prem Club March would be using his tried and tested "not good enough for Longton Park" analogy. That's fair enough but my original point still stands regardless of whether March has an opinion or not. At the start of the summer there were a lot of debates on here about self sufficiency and whether Pulis was a manager that could incorporate that strategy here. Newcastle United and their foreign transfer policy were held up as a shining light and that a manager like Pulis would never go down that route - the infamous 25M a year was chucked at him. I just find it rich that the minute he goes for a player like that it is described as uninspiring and in certain quarters, a nothing signing. I described it as a great business deal on another thread and still stick by that. At 1.7-2M we lose sod all in comparison if he's a flop but gain a good player for comparative peanuts if he's a success. If he's a great success we *could* gain a lot. Would you rather we pass him by at 1.7M and go chasing an unobtainable target 10M or so instead? As was said this summer by the experts - we are now self sufficient and a club with 26-28k crowds can no longer be expected to lash out 10M on the Peter Crouch's of this world...

I said 'nothing signing' because that's how it will be perceived by the overall fan community. We're talking about fans perception of players here, not fans perception of Pulis when he signs certain players.

Cameron may or may not be good enough but the fact that we're prepared to stray from our expensive comfort zone where the transfer market can surely only be seen as encouraging.

I still don't see how 'general perception' in this instance matters. If we were signing a Vale reserve and trumpeting him as the future of the club, or reduced to signing well-known journeymen like whoever the modern-day equivalent of Danny Dichio is, I could understand it a bit more. But this guy is an unknown quantity and it's still pretty early in the window, so I don't really see what there is to judge unfavourably. It's the kind of calculated gamble that most top flight teams indulge in.

You and Seddon seem to want to argue for the sake of arguing, attributing how the general consensus of fans is, to me. I agree that we don't know anything about him and shouldn't judge, so stop making out that I've said otherwise.
