If he his good enough for the Premiership then a difference of 700,000 is relatively small fry or put another way If 2.5m is too much for a player then it is unlikely that they are good enough for this level?

If Cameron plays tonight I don't think we will sign him. Houston face Ben Hamid and DC United. Worse for him than us, feel bad for him.

twitter.com/OrtizKicksGeoff Cameron is in the starting lineup against D.C. United. Does this answer any questions, folks?
I've covered pros 16 years, 13 MLB and 3 in MLS. Experience tells me if MLS agreed to sell @geoffcameron, he wouldn't be in lineup vs. D.C. And yet he confusingly adds... Dynamo fans, take pictures of @geoffcameron. I truly expect this to be his last game in Dynamo orange.

Couldn't agree more. Very odd. You scout the bloke, decide he's good enough to bring something to a Premier League squad and are presumably willing to offer him a 3/4-year deal - and leave him dangling for 14 days. You're prepared to offer £1.5m for him, but decide you won't go to the chicken feed sum of £2m - even though that's par for the course for that league, like Ream's move to Bolton which set them back £2.5m. We don't half pick some strange targets to seemingly make a stand for prudence, when on other occasions we don't care a jot for it I'd still be surprised if he didn'r end up here, though. But hard to see why we need to make it this messy, playing this elaborate game of chicken with the MLS.

Cameron is playing tonight, watching the game now. He looks very comfortable in a central midfield role. Full of running, he is switching the field nicely, has had a few nice through balls. He looks as though he would give us a diminsion to midfield we are missing right now. Worth the money.

DC down to 10 men, keeper sees a straight red, Dynamo up 2-nil. It is over, good night.

Yeah, this got real ugly real quickly. Only bright spot is that Cameron looks very useful - that cross with the outside of his boot was sublime, and solid passing and through-balls in general. Admittedly he's not up against much of a defense tonight, but good things could come (passes!) from him and Palacios in the middle.

Agreed, his range of passing has looked very good. Not bad considering he has been out for a few games with a bad hamstring. I think he would be worth the risk, look how Soares and Tonge have worked out.

If it's true it shows we don't have much ambition! Or more likely he's no good. Yes, that's why we are in for him in the first place.

Not willing to meet there price?.
Well if we want to push on then we have to take our head out of the sand and not expect to get almost all players on bargain deals.

blog.chron.com/soccer/2012/07/kinnear-praises-cameron-who-praises-fans-after-possibly-his-last-dynamo-game/“I think (Monday is) a key day in determining whether or not the transfer is going to happen or not,” Canetti said. “We had a positive weekend where there were good discussions and both sides kind of understood what it’s going to take to make a deal happen. Tomorrow we will share proposals and see if we can get closer to a deal.”
“It was a great way to end it here, especially if it was my last game,” Cameron said. “Can’t thank the Dynamo fans enough. They were amazing tonight and always are.”

Sounds like Scholes is just doing his hardball act.
It'd be a bit odd if we let a player get away that we thought could add something for the sake of a few hundred thousand, certainly in the context of all the cash we piss up the wall annually.
The unfortunate thing is that Cameron has been messed around for about 2 weeks. I bet his head's in a spin.

It'll be worthwhile when he finally signs FM, and his wages go up ten-fold!

It'll be worthwhile when he finally signs FM, and his wages go up ten-fold! Haha. That's why his head's in a spin. He thinks Scholesy is going to cost him his new Ferrari! We do pick some strange battles to fight, though. If we think someone can help us push on in the Prem, how does that fit in with such a lowball offer for a 27-year-old international, which we haven't budged from since 5th July? He isn't some kid. In any context, £1.2 seems a piss-take. We obviously think we can squeeze him out cheap and put a gun to MLS heads, due to the player's desire to force the issue. But, for the sake of a few hundred thousand, maybe a quicker, cleaner deal would have been possible.
