It just needs another club to nip in now pay what they want and we've lost him.

I think Cameron could be worth an extra £500K. At the end of the day we have spent more on what eventually turned out to be worse buys . . . .

We're talking about a negotiating set-up that paid the Bangoura fee in pounds when the quoted ammount was in euros - perhaps they're getting confused between dollars and pounds this time?

Wed rather spend the 500k that we're haggling about on an extra year for Mama. It really doesnt make sense. In one hand throwing cash away on a injury prone squad player (at best) and then risking losing a potentially very good player with the other.

I really have a good feeling about this guy, so i hope we sign him. i think he could be a big step forward for us, whether he plays at right back, centre mid or otherwise.

Do we even know this lad is worth the original fee never mind an extra £500K? Has anyone seem him play? You seem to be assuming he is going to be a good buy before he's even arrived. I saw Tom Soares a few times before we signed him and thought he would be a really good player for us. He even proved me right for about 2 games.

I am not assuming he is going to be a good buy, just that if TP really wants him for the squad & thinks he is worth having then why mess around for the sake of £500K. Obviously don't be held to ransom by the MLS, but if TP thinks that he can cut it in the prem just do it. I honestly dont understand why we would penny pinch especially if, as reported, the player side of the deal is done & dusted. I agree with the Tom Soares comparison though ;D

It's somewhere inbetween hence the ongoing negotiations which when concluded will reveal if it's 'on' or 'off'

It will be on again , if we offer more money . Simple. I guess we have different interpretations of 'off'. For me, I consider a deal off when it's actually 'off'. When there's no chance of concluding any business. Though if 'deal off' for you means ongoing negotiations and potential transfer dealing then fair enough.

If we've identified him as a player who would improve us, then why are we haggling over a few £00k?
We were more than happy to chuck money away with handing Tonge a new contract when he never playes for us, and I'm sure Soares is still sucking a living from Peters pocket

Don't think there was ever a chance of signing him until we are over there. In the meantime game of poker.

Yes Soares is now a free agent & off the books. Somehow Tonge managed to trigger some clause in his contract for another 12 months. He must have a top agent.

For the sake of 500,000, if we actually rate him then that should be no issue at all. £2.2m for a full international player, when you consider what he have spent on certain players, appears to be a bargain.

Easy to say when it's not your half a million pounds. I imagine a similar conversation ensued just before we pissed the Diego Arismendi money up the wall.
