He looked well up for it last night, harrying Valencia players and flying into tackles.Went forward with real purpose too.Thought his substitution was utterly unwarranted and was disappointed for the lad.Suppose he'll now be put back in his box until his contract runs out?

Anybody know how long he's got on his contract?
Could give us an indication as to whether we are going to wean him into the team or he'll be going on a free at the end of the season.

Arismendi will get his chance when Rafael Benitez is in charge, which could be quite soon. Is Diego getting a move to Chelsea then? To answer the original question... he can pass the ball. TP can't be doing with that.

I couldn't believe he ran forward with the football has this ever happened under Pulis? A midfielder running forward, instead of passing it sideways, backwards or aimlessly hoofing it. I thought he was MOTM anyway. I was almost as shocked as I was when Diao ran forward at Portsmouth away a few seasons ago and scored a screamer at the death. ;D

i dont think Pulis wanted to progress any further in the competition the knockout stages were always enough for him, the subsitutions last night reinforced that for me

Arismendi and Palacios benefitted from being in a midfield three with Diao sitting in front of the back four providing the extra protection. As I saw it, it allowed Arismendi and Palacios greater freedom to think offensively, aided also by the pace and movement we had up front. The system suited him and got the best out of the players - those in midfield and up front at least, the defence was a car crash! He deserves to be given more of a chance based on last night, as does the system Pulis used. But the system (like all systems) only works with the right players. I won't hold my breath though!

was impressed! was confident on the ball considering it was a slight baptism of fire for him, passing was far better than ive seen from whelan last couple of months. But we know we wont see him again with pulis staying loyal to his OLD GUARD...

I'm writing this more in hope than expectation, but, maybe, just maybe, he took DA and WP off because he wanted to save their legs for the weekend? Don't flame me because I don't expect this to be the case, just clutching at hope!

He does not have in his game what Pulis is looking for as yet......not in his thirties....has not got a poor first touch....can't misplace a pass on a regular basis.....still has the ability to run at defenders and go past them...which is a no no,when he should be thinking about covering his fullback...,,ect.....ect....

I'd be amazed if we saw Diego again, people would start asking why he hasn't been played more and question TP's judgement of talent.

Could be right there janner, Swansea midfield against W. Brom was Britton 5' 5" 10st Dyer 5' 5" 9.5st. Allen 5' 6" 12.5st and Sigurdsson 6' 1" 12st. Arismendi 6' 2" 12st

Would I be right in saying that Diego has featured for Stoke 4 times?
Portsmouth away - only decent player in a 4-0 drubbing during a cup game featuring the likes of Sonko, Soares, Tonge and Cresswell.
FC Thun away (Sub) - came on and actually played very well for 20 minutes. I commented that we would need to judge him against better opposition before commenting further.
Besiktas away - excellent in midfield and non-too shabby at full-back before tiring dramatically against a good team who passed our 10 men about for long spells
Valencia away - excellent showing against a top quality side and desperately unlucky to be subbed.
I seem to recall one other appearance, but I can't remember the game.
He has clearly got ability and his loan spell at Barnsley, which wasn't a roaring success, casts doubt on his ability to perform well consistently, but given the dross that some of our midfield have turned in at times, it does beg the question as to why he hasn't been given more of a chance to prove his worth.

I thought he did well, considering how poor we are at keeping the ball , he certainly deserves his chance in the league , but wil he get it ?
Sadly it was him and Palacios taken off and they totally dominated from that moment

I don't think we can get to carried away. Yes, he played very well against Valanecia but didn't Tom Soared have a good game against Spurs and we we're all singing his praises and how we had one for the future. He need to make sure he can do it on a regular basis

When you put it like that, Dave you're right. In his four appearances he has done well. I was at Pompey for that debacle and he was the only player to come out with any credit. At Thun he was bright and on the front front as he was last night. He must have something for Tone to have spunked nearly 3 million quid on him (I know, look at Danny Collins!) and judging from what we've seen there does appear to be a bit of a player there if we can nurture him. I won't hold my breath though as it is still very early days for him (despite how long he's been here.) Speaking of Collins I think we saw what most of us knew even after the Crawley game. He was ok against league 2 opposition (albeit often out of position) but he was a hideous, plethora of wank against a good team like Valencia. He needs to be fucked off.

Sadly I can only nod in agreement about Collins!
Back to Arismendi, I think he may be out of contract in the summer and given his showing on Thursday, it could be pretty sad if we let him drift out of the club without truly knowing for ourselves whether he could make it or not.
He definitely has something about him. His ability to pass the ball and move into space to get it back is something we have rarely seen in our team but he seems to have it. He doesn't seem to mind playing in tight spaces either, he is comfortable on the ball and will try to move forward with it.
What I like most is his apparent knack of anticipating where an opposition pass is going. He intercepted loads on Thursday and set us on the attack with non-too complicated passes to either Fuller, Jerome or KJ.

Arismendi and Palacios every week for me, have no idea what Pulis sees in Diao and Delap - a pair of strays from Blackpool beach.

The lad did really, really well in Valencia. Penetrating runs, good control, good passing, excellent link play from midfield to forwards & he put himself about too.
Definitely deserves a start in the league against Swansea after that performance!!

I think the problem with Arismendi and, to a lesser extent maybe, Palacios is that they show a bit too much "independence" of thought on the pitch and take risks for example to try an interception or to drive forward for TP. He simply doesn't trust them enough to follow his instructions because they follow their instincts too much.
